Rosco has never heard of Halloween before, and tonight, he'll be trick-or-treating with ten-year-old James, seven-year-old Mandy, and a group of their friends. He's never seen so many kid-sized creatures and characters out on the sidewalks, and marvels at the many sights and sounds.

And like so many kids, second-grader Mandy is torn between her love of trick-or-treating and her dislike of the scarier aspects of Halloween, so when things get spooky in a neighborhood haunted house, will Rosco step up and protect her?

How I Earned My Second Chance

I was fourteen- young, insecure and probably way too fragile to have an entire life in my hands. I know what you're thinking; is this girl a teen mother? Almost. I almost was, and I certainly felt like it. An orphaned foal felt like twice as much effort as a newly born baby.My grandmother's beloved horse had tragically died whilst giving birth to a small colt. As a result of this, my grandma and I were left with a very needy and confused foal. I had no experience with horses whatsoever, and so this new baby horse required most of my efforts. Matters went from bad to worse when the horse was left entirely to me and nobody was around to help. I named the horse Chance, because he was only here by Chance and couldn't POSSIBLY have a bright future. Chance hated me. I grew to hate Chance. I only started to understand him when I realised that he was grandma's last gift to me. How does someone prevent a volcano from erupting? It's virtually impossible- that's how I felt when I was trying to calm Chance. He would kick and bite until I was physically weakened, and he knew that he was the boss. It was something I had to change. I tore down his stable. I nearly tore down grandma's entire farm. Then, I started again. I gave both of us a new beginning and hopefully a pleasant end. It took a while before I noticed that Chance had saved me. Do you want to know how?--Based on true events.--
