"I didn't want you to feel weird," I whisper. The car is silent and the windows are fogged from our breath. I pull at my hoodie sleeves covering my hands in anxiety. She is sitting right next to me, but she has never felt so far away. "What do you mean feel weird?" She finally asks after a heavy moment of silence. I look at her profile, her eyes are facing forward as she stares at the dash of my car, but I can tell she isn't entirely seeing what's in front of her. My heart is hammering in my chest. She won't even look at me. She is disgusted. "Maybe there is. I'm in limbo with what I feel for you. I didn't say anything because of this. I did not want this to happen." I can feel myself getting frustrated with myself and I know I am close to tears, though she will never know that. "How long have you felt like this, Hailey?" Her voice is shaking slightly and it makes my heart hurt. I look at her only to find her already staring at me. Her eyes are glossy and her nose is pink. Her eyebrows are pinched in confusion and her lips are turned down in a concerned smirk. "A while, sweetheart." I finally say, smiling sadly at her. Oh what a pain in the ass being in love with your straight best friend can be.*This book deals with issues such as self-harm, suicide, drug use, and other mature themes.

She took her mother's place and reigned the kingdom. However, her dominion was far from good. She imposed heavy taxes on the people and purged the ones who did not abide by her orders. Gradually people came to call the country as "the kingdom of evil and cruelty" and the princess as "daughter of evil"
