Les Ralaïs sont gouvernés par des princesses, une pour chaque cité. Il y a 6 cités dans tout le royaume et quelques hameaux (petits villages) dispersés.Les Ralaïs raffolent de sang et de chair fraîche. Ils tuent la moitié des adolescents qui ont entre 12 et 15 ans puis les mangent. ils enferment les cerveaux des ado dans des fioles qu'ils jettent ensuite dans la Forêt de Feu, La gardienne du Feu les ressuscite et le cycle recommence éternellement.Cette moitié des ado sont choisis à la naissance (chaque mère est obligée de tomber enceinte tous les mois (elle est enceinte pendant deux semaines)). les enfants sont marqués au fer rouge (à la naissance), d'où leurs marques rouges dans le cou puis forcés à travailler dans les fermes.Ces enfants sont donc des offrandes pour la Gardienne du Sang et des esclaves qui approvisionnent leur peuple en nourriture.A ne pas oublier : les mères Ralaïs ne montrent JAMAIS d'affection pour leurs enfants (mais elles les aiment quand même bien sûr).
