The Truth About the Word Friendship

I am Chinese born in China, but I am not part of the 93% of Han Chinese. I can only understand Cantonese, but I understand these 2 words: “本人” & “一文不值”. I've heard it...sometimes I feel like every metaphor, simile, and all the symbolism in the world describes me and those people. Even though they are my friends, they are like pickles: liked by many, but can be sour at times. I'm more like a cucumber: I was them before they were popular...before they became what they are now. Why do they treat me as if I am not Chinese? Not on their vernacular. Not as a friend, but as the enemy in which they feel the need to rip to shreds as soon as they see me. I don't understand, but will I ever understand the complicated-ness of life that is a must just like the way guilt is an unavoidable consequence of a lie. Except these aren't just lies: they are a part of what has made me myself up until now.
