As we start to slow down, I slowly get off majesty's back, and enter the clearing. I don't bother tieing Majesty to something and I quickly walk over to the river, sliping off my shoes, and placing my feet in the flowing water. I sigh and lay back, watching the trees sway in the wind. Out of habit, I reach up and touch the chain around my neck and fiddle around with the necklace my grandmother gave me at birth. One time, when I was about five, I remember almost taking it off when I jeard my grandmother yell at me and she told me I was never allowed to take it off. She had said it held magical powers that would protect myself, my family and the kingdom. That was the only time I had ever seen my grandmother get mad, or frustrated with me. And to be honest, it scared me as a kidI used to believe it when I was younger, but after years of trying to figure out how it works, I think she just said it to make me happy.Even though I don't believe there truly is any magic in the stone, I still keep it on. Grandma passed away just a year ago and having it gives me a comfort feeling she is still with me. That being said I never, ever take it off. Not only because of my grandma, but one time, I did take it off, and I had this weak, almost sick feeling until I put it back on. So I haven't taken it off since. I play with the stone for a little and then sit up. I look down at the reflection of myself in the water and grimace. As much as I would love to have stayed hidden from the world longer, I knew it was time to head back home. My mother said that we are having guests over for a brief lunch meeting and I had to make an appearance. Annoyed, I stand up and put my back shoes on. I grab Majesty's reign and I led her out of the clearing and back to the castle where I know all hell is waiting for me.
The final chapter of the Shadows of the Apocalypse saga concludes...The arrival of the REF cruiser Arcadia heralded a new age for humanity with the knowledge and technological wonders of Robotechnology they brought. When the Arcadia left to explore the galaxy, there were great hopes and expectations for the future...When she never returned, those hopes and expectations turned to ashes as the forces of darkness made their moves, using their human minions to seize power. Faith, Buffy along with a handful of remaining allies find themselves engaged in a desperate fight for survival...What neither side knows or realizes is that a bigger galactic struggle, nearing its climax, is about to arrive on Earth's doorstep.Author's notes: This is a ROBOTECH and Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover story and is a sequel to my previous stories "Dance with the Reaper" and "The Coming Storm". I will try and keep ROBOTECH as close to canon using my OCs, but my main goal is to provide an entertaining story to the reader.I just want to say thanks to the creators and writers of both the ROBOTECH and Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchises. A special thanks to all those that created many of the ROBOTECH technical reference sites, they were excellent sources of information on the types of mecha and ships. All characters are the intellectual property of their respective creators and publishers; this story may not be sold or distributed on a profit-making basis. Thanks to all that read this story.
