Entre las áreas mas utilizadas para este propósito destacan:1- De Cuidado Total: En ella se considera al paciente como una persona plenamente integral en el aspecto físico, emocional, psicológico, intelectual, social, económico y espiritual, razón por la cual atienden y cuidan exhaustivamente todos estos aspectos.2- De Control de Síntomas: Se basa en dar alivio físico a los síntomas que generan malestar en el paciente. Usualmente se realiza a través del uso y aplicación de tecnologías de relajación, a fin de brindarle placer, bienestar y una mejor calidad de vida.3- De Manejo del Dolor: Se basa en el uso de equipos modernos para la realización de terapias analgésicas, aplicables tanto en los pacientes ambulatorios como aquellos que estén hospitalizados. También permite el bloqueo nervioso con base al umbral del dolor y necesidad del paciente.4- De Apoyo Emocional: En esta área se presta especial atención a la reacción experimentada por el paciente al recibir la noticia de la enfermedad terminal, siendo allí donde aparece el temor a morir y a la incapacidad física y emocional.
