Billy Adamsen har mange års erfaring med rådgivning og er kendt som Danmarks første spindoktor: Han blev ansat som personlig rådgiver for daværende statsminister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen i 1996. I dag er han adjunkt på Syddansk Universitet og Erhvervsakademi Sjælland, hvor han forsker i blandt andet forandringskommunikation. Han har en en række universitetsgrader bag sig og har i flere år været tilknyttet danske universiteter. Han har også udgivet bøger og artikler om blandt andet kommunikation og medier.
