ROCK ME IN YOUR ARMS by Diana Dunsworth Baker

This is actually a song I wrote in the middle of the night. Tossing and turning, suddenly it started coming to me. The next day, I played it for my adorable vocal performance student, Candan Grace Stark, age ten. And she came up with the chords and words for the chorus. I will always remember how wonderful that was.

"SHAKY GROUND" is the true story of my experiences during and immediately following the March 27, 1964 Alaska Earthquake. My mother gave me a diary when I was a young child and I kept notes almost every single day. This diary was recently found and here is my story. I hope you love it.

SPECIAL written by Diana Dunsworth Baker

"Special" is the true story of my year teaching special education at the middle school level. It is an unexpected, haunting and heart-warming story about children with disabilities and how their lives and loves matter and how I discovered that love conquers all.

A Portrait for Sabrina

A mythical world. An eerie experience. A seemingly impossible quest to complete. Who is Sabrina? And the count, the castle, the dark cellar? And essentially what does all of this entails?

A poem about lost love, in which you can never get back as it was never returned.

This poem is based on purely on experience as most poems I write are. It is about narcissist abuse and being addicted to unhealthy love. Once you are hooked onto something or someone, it can be hard to escape from that habit.

Reading this oldie that I wrote, takes me back to how much my poems have changed. It has been posted before, but had no recognition. That does not matter, as I think of each piece as my children. The ugly duckling was always a great story to me. I loved the ending of how the supposedly ugly duckling turned into a swan. The others soon regretted ever teasing it. Thus being the youngest in the family, this happens to a lot.

AFTERMATH

Oklahoma City was the site of the worst terrorist act in history on American soil up to the date of April 19th, 1995: The main target was the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Following the bombing, my husband, Chuck, and I were privileged to take part in the search and rescue effort.

PICTURE THIS: a true story

As a first grader, I was shy and quiet and sat in a row of desks next to the window. I wasn't particularly pretty or exceptional in any way what-so-ever. A horrid girl gave me hateful looks, called me names, made fun of me...and it was constant. One pretty day, the door to the classroom opened and three men in suits and hats burst into the room. Each man held a huge camera with flash attachments and tripods and I don't know what all. "We are looking for Diana Dee Dunsworth!!!" the tallest of the three practically shouted. Stunned, I tentatively held up my right hand. 'Oh Lord! They are here to arrest me.'
