Tilting to the West [Poetry]

1st Grace Awards, 1st Winter Rose Awards 2019 (Summer) 2nd Nexus Easter 2019 Nominations Award. What does 'tilting to the west' mean? It is the moment we cease to stand upright in who we are, even for a moment, a piece of ourselves for a day.. . a year . . . a lifetime. How? Perhaps a critical comment, gridlock on a life decision, an accident that shrouds you in mists of negativity, the ending of a relationship. No? It might be the death of a dream, personal isolation until you feel glacial; missing home or Mom. Many are battling in the war zone of chronic illness or disability until they don't remember 'Normal' or what 'Me' means. Others struggle to adapt to new roles, positions, or homes; Millions are mourning the emptiness-crater a person's absence has created in their daily lives. The poems within show "tilting" in its various forms, both literal and figurative. This collection includes poetry ranging from free verse to modern Japanese traditions (all written in English) including haiku, senryu, tanka, rengay, and haibun. Why free verse and haiku / Japanese forms? Free verse represents the years and stages while haiku expresses the snapshot moments. Cover Photo Credit: Shutterstock, Inc., Chekmarev Pavel

The Summer of Thunderstorms (Poetry)[Complete]

Word Count: 1750.~~~Mister Dean Lost,Disaster has struck. As the circle of life has repeatedly shown us, death follows life follows death. The dial has fallen back on death, but life is taking too long to show, and I'm afraid the train may hit me before we reach the light at the tunnel's end. So, I decided to write to you, as you are the only one who has yet to call me hysterical. For the longest time, I had no idea the danger. In a sort of matrix, I was protected; or, so I thought. I was never scared of thunderstorms, but the constant rain and clouds became a nuisance to my weekly summer football games. If I had stayed inside the whole time, I wouldn't have had a life. So, one night, I did go. I went to the field and subjected myself to the electric jabs of God's staff, conveniently uncovering the truth in the process: all in a dream! While thunder clapped and lightning circled round like stage lights, I slept still, and so I think perhaps somebody was very adamant I see this vision. For what reason, I haven't got a clue, other than that they may have needed my hand. And hence, I cannot take the credit. If I have learned anything, it is that I'm no more than a drop of maple syrup in this country, and in this world. Tiny, slow, everchanging, and I can't help but get stuck to things; even you, though you still insist I'm sweet. In this package, I have enclosed my final twelve poems; one for each clock hour. Do what you please with them, but if you sell any to the newspaper do not credit me. Not solely, because though I played the scribe, I am no author. It's a collection about all the good and bad bugs the rain brings out, written by my hand in accordance with the Actress, the Horse, the Castle, the Waitress, and others I met along the way. If I'm lucky, I'll see them again soon -- and maybe you, too.Your devoted sister,Rossy Lost~~~Last-Minute Warning! Could irk astraphobes.

Brevity ✓

Brevity is one of the most compelling and beautiful aspects of poetry. I am always fascinated by the ability of a poet to distill thoughts, ideas and emotions into words through concrete imagery and word-play. In this collection, you will find short poems ranging from haikus, senryus, cinquains, shape-poetry to free verse. Everything is short, concise and to the point. Nature is my biggest muse and most of my poems reflect that; although I deviate to other aspects of human behaviour like love, hate, jealousy, anger, money, etc. from time to time.Even though this collection is complete, I update and edit it by twerking my words and adding images as I feel limited by the font and structure choice offered by Wattpad; especially when it comes to shape-poetry. If you liked this book, consider adding it to your library or reading list. Your votes, comments and feedback are highly appreciated. Thank you.Highest Rank #22 in poetry on 23/04/17Cover design by : @sonakshisrivastava

Tag! Tag! I'm on It!

This began as a fun activity in which you have to write 20 things about yourself. Now it's been turned into a place where I spill my thoughts about daily life and issues and share rants with you. I hope you enjoy reading this. It's open to discussions and opinions.

Stories between the lines: A collection of Poems

The world is what you perceive it to be. These are short poems and haikus which I have been inspired to write by what has happened to me and those around me, giving you an insight to how I perceive the world around me. I do cover some self-harm and perhaps depressing topics. I also have a bit more cynical outlook. So discretion is advised to those who may be a little more sensitive to these topics. Our Violet Walls

Book #1 in the 'Coloured After Party' Poetry Series.'Coloured After Party' is my second poetry series after my debut one known as 'If Only Happiness...'When everyone leaves, the night gets lonely with every passing minute. Keeping us in dilemma of wishing , making us think that the party must've gone for a little more time and then stripping from the freedom with the thoughts of what is going to come the next morning. The bittersweet time of the night, when the party has just ended with glitter on the floor, balloons on the couch and tables and the decorations partially falling off. Everything around is a tattered proof of the fun you had and the clock on the wall is the warning of the future to come.In this series, I look at this situation as if I am wearing colored filter glasses and try to condense my feelings into these sentences, I call poems.---------OUR VIOLET WALLS Perhaps a metaphor to link the loneliness and lack of choice that is faced by a human when locked in a room without an exit door.An exit door is a choice, the presence of freedom to leave when the necessity is felt, but when there isn't a visible exit door, what is left is only the hope of it's appearance. I explore this very idea through the poems in this collection. Just that the room I am locked in has walls painted in Violet.Violet- a depressing colour but also my favorite??Hope you enjoy the read. :)
