In the year 2176, most of humanity has evacuated Earth due to climate change and poor conditions, now residing either on the Moon, Mars, or Mars' two moons Phobos and Deimos. Jerry Sullivan, having been born in Houston, TX in 2149 has been living in Kanzen City, located inside the famous Korolev Crater, on Mars for four years now; since he started working for the city's power plant as a maintenance technician. While his career is lucrative, allowing him to make ends meet comfortably, he feels devoid of love and companionship in life. One day, he falls in love on vacation with Alyssa Eisenberg, who was born and dwelt all her life on Phobos, never having been outside it. She is at first reluctant as she had bad experiences with her former boyfriend, but soon comes to trust Jerry and his feelings.
