Ad Astra Per Aspera is the sequel to The Soldier of Stars.-----------Waking up disoriented and inside a hospital, that has the dingy army issued light bulbs, the rough cots and the smell of despair is not how Hazel thought her new year would start, especially with the pulsing wound that lies in her side. Hazel Parker, severely injured and mentally unstable, lies in wait at a field hospital, as Easy Company continues to battle the tortures of the war. Catherine McCown, Elizabeth Elliot and Easy Company, are struggling, especially after the major losses of Bill Guanere and Joe Toye or others like Donald Hoobler and especially Skip Muck and Alex Penkala and most importantly, the tiny sniper Hazel Parker. Each loss pushed Easy into a darker time, a darker reality that they would ultimately have to face if they were to make the attack on Foy. They know the war is coming to a close soon, it has to be, but with the current loses and the shine of hope that is slowly dwindling, Easy barely stays afloat as they manage to fend off the town of Foy and proceed to Alsace, France. Una feliz familia vivía en un rumbo muy cercano a una transitada carretera, debido a esto la joven madre las acompañaba diariamente al colegio y caminaban las tres tomadas de la mano, teniendo especial cuidado al toparse con la mencionada carretera, las pequeñas hasta el momento no tenían permiso de cruzar solas. Uno de tantos días la madre recibió en su celular una llamada urgente del trabajo la cual tuvo que atender, le exigían su presencia de inmediato, por lo cual se vio en la necesidad de dejar que las gemelas continuaran el camino solas. Con mucho pesar despidió a las niñas, dando indicaciones para no soltarse de la mano y tener mucho cuidado al cruzar. Las dos pequeñas siguieron las instrucciones de su madre, miraron a ambos lados de la carretera, y al ver que estaba libre cruzaron. Apenas se giraba la madre para cambiar de rumbo, cuando se escuchó un golpe muy fuerte a su espalda, volteó de inmediato para ver con terror que sus hijas habían sido atropelladas perdieron la vida al instante, El pesar duró mucho tiempo, pero transcurridos cuatro (4) años, la madre dio a luz de nuevo gemelas, estas eran muy parecidas a sus hermanas fallecidas, lo cual le hacía tener presente aquel fatal accidente. Esta vez tenía una terrible obsesión por su cuidado y no les permitía estar cerca de ningún peligro, en especial aquella carretera.
