2019 Writing Scrapbook

2019 brings a new year and new life to my writing. As such, I will share all of my poetry, short stories, and snippets of writing within this scrapbook that is written during the course of 2019.DISCLAIMER: Several poems were removed on August 11th, 2019, due to them being published in my Amazon e-book, "Seasons of Love", which can be purchased for $.99Some of the poems contain photos. All photos or drawings were created by me, and they are all either photos of the event itself or were created to represent the event that is discussed in the poem. Most of these poems are deeply personal to me and some of them have roots in real situations in my life, while others are fictitious and should not be taken literally.

The Temple - YA Novel (Fantasy)

What if you were supposed to save the world, but your powers never showed up? Keelee likes life in her quiet farming village where she feels safe with her older brother Bryan, her only surviving family. Yet she can't help but be curious when cranky Sole arrives with his enigmatic granddaughter. Started Jan 4, 2022Ended...I awaken to the bright morning sunlight shining through the huge window and the sound of the wind ruffling through the leaves on the tree outside. As I scanned my surroundings My eyes caught sight of several vases filled with red, yellow, and white rose that sat on top of the window seal, the nightstand on both sides of the bed and the dresser. The massive Namjoon poster hanging on the lavender wall and the huge white bunny rabbit sitting on the chaise at the foot of the bed had me thinking that I was in my old room back at my parent's house. To a normal person whose just waking up in her parents house it probably wouldn't be a frightening thought. It's was scary to me because haven't seen or talked to my parents since the day I married Nicholas Collier two years ago. They didn't like me dating him and they sure as hell didn't like the fact that I married him. They hated it so much so that my father threaten to do bodily harm to him if I chose to go against their wishes a few weeks before the wedding. I was a bit taken back in my parents rejection and threats towards the man I loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I slowly and quietly try to ease out of bed until I realized i couldn't move my legs. The knowledge of knowing I was paralyzed from the waist down and seeing several machine hooked up to me cause me to began to panic. "Nicholas... Nicholas..." I franticly screamed at the top of my lungs as I continue to struggle to get out of bed, out of the room that looked too eerily familiar to me.Somewhere Downtown..."Laikin, do you realize that this is a large responsibility that you're taking on here?" Mom asked me while sitting behind her desk."Yes mom.""I need you to understand that once you adopt Amir, his needs, happiness and well being has to take precedenance over yours." Kingdom of Shadows Poetry

This series of poems was inspired by a roleplay group chat on Facebook by the same name. Everyone is either Human or some type of supernatural/mythological being (vampire, werewolf, demon siren, etc.).My character is Akuma, a female vampire. Back in high school, she fell for a vampire named Clyde Drakenhoff. They grew to be close friends. Akuma thought she made it clear that she loved him, but he was too dense to see. After high school, the two parted ways. They didn't meet up until years later. By now, Clyde had a kingdom and the vampire king. He also had a wife, Akira, and children. Akuma, hearing this, became devastated. She became cold, distant, and bitter. She still loved him and could have never imagined he would replace her. Clyde still liked her, but it ended there. Akuma became shattered, a shadow of what she once was, an empty shell with nothing inside. She lost her heart. She lost all sense of forgiveness, remorse, and mercy. This was an act of betrayal in the cruelest form. Nothing would change the fact that he chose someone else. The Underworld was thrown into an abyss for centuries. The people and land suffered from Akuma's wrath and grief.In time, Akuma became the ruler of the Underworld. This kept her busy, but the pain remained. It would never go away, the crushing feeling of being replaced. She became crueler, colder. She forgot how to love, how to smile, how to care. The Underworld feared her. One day, a demon by the name of Jackie offered revenge in exchange for two things. One was that he be allowed to kill Clyde and his family personally. Akuma, feeling nothing for Clyde for replacing her (and Akira for stealing him away), agreed. The second was that she marry him. Akuma agreed. She grew to love him and in time had twins after a few years.These poems illustrate how Akuma felt and what she went through. Eventually, I decided to add other characters to give this collection more variety and make it less redundant.
