Les vacances de la Toussaint approchaient, et avec elles Halloween. C'est devenu une fête commerciale, l'occasion de vendre des bonbons et de faire la fête.Autrefois, cette fête avait du sens, y compris ici, en terre de Bretagne. On l'appelait Samaïn . C'était le nouvel an celte.On célébrait le passage de la période lumineuse (les jours longs) à la période sombre (les jours plus courts).Femme celte, je suis attachée à nos traditions. Cette origine d'Halloween non anglo-saxonne me parle.Je cherchais un moyen de faire écrire les jeunes que j'encadre. Je souhaitais leur donner l'occasion de partager leur imaginaire, et le sujet m'est apparu évident, vu l'époque.Plutôt que de faire des acrostiches comme le Noël précédent, j'envisageai de les faire rêver autour du thème d'Halloween.En fait je venais d'apprendre que jusqu'à la moitié du XXème siècle, dans les campagnes principalement, les bretons fêtaient encore, en ce 31 octobre, la Samaïn. (cf Nadine Cretin,)À cet effet, ils déposaient sur la table de la cuisine, un pichet de boisson, des vivres (pâté, far, pain...), et remettaient une bûche dans l'âtre afin d'honorer les ancêtres, censés leur rendre visite pendant la nuit.Je n'ai pas eu d'écrits d'adolescents sur le sujet. Je n'ai pas pu mettre en œuvre le concours d'historiettes que j'avais envisagé. Il avait été jugé trop « tendancieux », trop « fantastique ».Mais je me suis prise au jeu et j'ai laissé mon imagination vagabonder.Lisez plutôt !

I squatted down between a Vets and a cafe, quietly trying to make sense of it all.Outside the cafe sat two Campesinos who could smell the richness of the horse droppings.The tall one, "Horseman" said to his companion "Do you know, no one should step in horse poop. Let alone dog poop. why? Cos there will be more of it."The shorter and fatter "Dogman" due to the three dogs at his feet, replied "I know what you mean. I always avoid both dog & horse poop."I silently wish I had done the same. Our canine friends do like to spread it around and reduce the problem. Whereas a horse considers no one.That probably goes for the riders too. When was the last occasion you witnessed a horse rider dismount with a shovel and a black bag heading in the direction of the horse's rear?Both men were now in hysterics.
