God does not take back the gifts once he gives them to you. You can use them at any time, although they are empowered supernaturally through the Holy Spirit, they are subject to you. You can start and stop at anytime with your free will.

There are barriers that can prevent you from receiving the Holy Spirit and even if you receive the Holy Spirit they can block or hinder his work. These are not barriers on His side as all things are possible for God. The only thing that is required is your consent and willingness to be worked on and change.
