LEAVE THE SCHOOL. You hadn't consideredβ€”yet. And now was there any point in staying on? You had joined for fun, undoubtedly. You had joined to find a rich husband, preferably, but now you had already managed to achieve that; along with winning the bet with Jun. Of course, There was a series of incidents that you had caused, but...

"Daichi won't take kindly to that," Arata gave a long sigh. "He is part of the enemy organizationβ€”Kazuya corporation. And granted, he likes you, but it's not exactly..."

"...In a healthy way," you finished off. "What's with me attracting all the council members?" You wrinkled your nose. "I hardly did anything. And ninety percent of them proved to be my childhood friends."

"Inei knows your past and the rest are clueless. Are you planning on ever telling them?"

"No."

"No?"

"I'm leaving. It'll be a clean slate. I can't...I can't bring myself to really care, anymore. What's done is done, right? I mean, I'm fine with Saito and Jun. Inei and Kaen are slightly more dangerous. I can't figure out Akio. And Daichiβ€”"

"He's a douchebag."

"Jesus, what's with all these people? I can barely remember them. I can't remember anyone who wasn't attached to me by the hip when I was young."

Arata stayed silent. "Strange, right? How did you start to meet everyone here?"

"What, is this a conspiracy theory or something? I love conspiracy theories. Likeβ€”do you know Kim Jong Un secretly really loves Katy Perry?"

"That was a movie," Arata cracked a smile, before he ruffled your hair. "Plus, everyone who acted in that movie got into the North Korean blacklist."

"Yikes." You made a disgruntled expression. "Okay, so? What theory?"

"Perhaps Daichi knew every bit of his competitors. He brought everyone here. He brought Inei, after knowing of the connection. He lured me in. He brought you in. all for this."

"He must be hurting for that to backfire on him."

"Well," Arata said slowly, "he's intelligent enough to have considered this path. And nowβ€”everyone is on the warpath against me. He's using the student council as a test run against me. Look at what Kaen was plotting about."

"Aw," you frowned. "I need to talk to Akio. Retrieve the photo. I'll handle that. And later I can talk with Inei and Kaen. We can go on the mission afterwards."

"Good," Arata kissed your forehead, smiling. You smiled back, your heart lighter. "Sounds like a plan."

"See you later."

"[Name]."

"Hm?"

"...How much do you remember of Daichi?"

"Strange thingβ€”I don't remember much at all. I'm guessing either my mother tinkered with my memories because he was from Kazuya, or Daichi's own parents did so. If I did..." you have a lengthy sigh. "Perhaps it would have been hard to do such a thing. But essentially, I can't view him as a childhood friend. To me, he's just a two faced student council president."

"Huh," Arata said quietly. "I suppose I was lucky."

"Hmm? What was that?" You teased him.. "Was someone jealous?"

Arata raised an eyebrow. "Wouldn't you be?"

"Well, yeah," you replied seriously, "I would be."

"Then you have your answer."

You softened. This was Arataβ€”the male you would leave the school with, the male you had grown up with, side by side, the male who understood youβ€”your actions, your soul, you. There were so many people who would never truly understand you; but Arata was different. He didn't question your actions. He knew your abilities. He knew you, inside and out.

"Thank you," you whispered.

"What for?"

"For everything."

.

.

β€”

.

.

"It was you, bastard," You smiled, kissing your teeth. "I know it was."

Akio looked at you defensively. "It wasn't."

"Really? You really want to lie? I don't recommend it." You shoved him harshly to the back, tilting your head. "Arata knew already. My fucking boyfriend isn't some weak minded loser like you think he is. I'm not the fucking weakling you think I am, bastard."

Akio had heard stories of you before. There had been the infamous beat down; where you had beaten up Jack or whatever his useless name was. He assumed it had been exaggerated; he assumed that most of the facts about you had been embellished. After all, how was it possible to withstand a snake's bite? How was it possible to survive acetone? How was it possible toβ€”

There were so many questions. And now the bet had taken a sudden turn. One he wasn't participating in, but still. The situation was ridiculous. But one thing...

"Boyfriend?" Akio sputtered out. "So the rumors are true."

"What?"

"The bet is useless, then," Akio sneered. "Do you know what the student council members are doing? Betting on seeing who you would want."

"I'm sorry," You blinked. "Wait, are you jealous, or something? I already knew that, dumbass. It doesn't take a genius to know that they were wooing me."

"Hell no!"

"Then? Hey, Akio," you spat, "If I ever wanted to kill myself, do you know what I would do? I would climb up your ego, and then jump down to your IQ. That's how much of a fucking joke you are. So cough it up. I know you have that picture."

"What will you do if I don't?"

"A lot of things," you said simply. "Kaen put you up to this? Inei? That's disappointing. I had high expectations of them, too. Any chances they had with me immediately went down the drain."

"They aren't the ones you should be worried about."

"Daichi, huh," you said slowly, "you're referring to him. You are right. I should be worried about him."

"Soβ€”"

"Don't try to change the subject. Give me the damn photo."

Akio looked at you at last. "You're the one who chased Jun out?"

"He went out of his own volition. You guys treated him like shit." Curse words were flowing readily from your mouth now. You couldn't seem to stop. "So? I have nothing to exchange for it, by the way. Unless you want to trade blows."

"No!"

"Or, you want a kiss to win this game? Fine. Let my fist kiss your lips."

"Fine, fine!" Akio said in exasperation, "whatever. I want you out of the school, anyways. You destroyed the whole student council."

"Oh yeah?" You smiled wryly. "It was all a matter of luck. I'm leaving, anyway. My mother needs me back."

There was a pause.

"What does your mother do, actually?"

"...Hmm, trick question?" You winked. It terrified Akio; really; the way your mood changed so swiftly. "Wouldn't want to get my family behind bars, right? But that's fine, because my father's ex is actually the commander ofβ€”"

"Nevermind. I don't want to hear it."

"Pity," you opened your palm. "So?"

Akio begrudgingly placed a photo in your palm. You looked at it with satisfaction. It depicted Arata fighting against the madwoman stalkerβ€”wow, you had just achieved a limited edition photo card of a future (?) idol. Or future hitman. Or future criminal. Whoops. You were both technically criminals, right?

"Anyway," you hummed, tucking the photo inside your pocket. "I'm leaving the school. Application filled out and everything."

"...What?" Akio responded, aghast. "That's ridiculous. You've only been here for a couple months!"

"Yeah, and somehow I managed to get a snake bite, burn the school, destroy it, beat up a bunch of people, andβ€”get a bunch of crazed maniacs obsessed with me. It's time I go. I mostly entered for fun, after all."

"You're the crazy one!"

"Right, Mr Blackmailer," you whistled. "Pleasure doing business with you."

You paused, a smile on your lips. "Pleasure doing business, Aki. That's how you go by online, right now? Stupid username. I bet it was Saito's."

"Waitβ€”what?" Akio's dumbfounded look was hilarious. "You..."

"Yup, one and only. I found your identity by accident. Terry pressed some keys and suddenly I saw your social security number and IP address. I don't know," you shrugged. "I was going to threaten you with that, but you handed it over. Good boy, I guess."

Akio's jaw dropped.

"Well, yeah, keep that open. It's pretty big," you winked. "Kidding. Got a boyfriend. Now wipe that insufferable expression and get the fuck out of here. I still dislike you."

"Who are you meeting next?"

"Inei. Kaen," you shrugged. "Perhaps I'll see Daichi another day."

"Who the fuck are you, [Name]?"

Technically an assassin.

"Ex-student," you waved goodbye. "Hope I never see you again."

.

.

β€”

.

.

Kaen and Inei were a lot more receptive to the conversation. As in; they were eager to see you, but...

"Blackmailing my boyfriend was not going to give you brownie points," you crossed your arms. "Look, I don't care what crushes you guys have on me, but I'm sorry. I appreciate it, but I can't return your feelings. I love my boyfriend."

Kaen's expression lookedβ€”well, it didn't look good. Inei, on the other handβ€”his face was passive. But you could see his fists curled into a ball.

"What? Too lazy to argue, Inei?" You tilted your head. "I heard you tried to argue with Kaen, so you aren't in trouble. You know, after all, who I really am."

Kaen was smiling. "So he's your boyfriend?"

"Kaen." You smiled back. "Did you really think it was a good idea? You know, you were practically conducting a plan to kill Arata. But that isn't abnormal to you, isn't it?"

"I suppose not, cutie," Kaen drawled.

You flung a cup in his direction. It ricocheted off the wall, smashing into a thousand smithereens. "Do not fucking call me that."

"You seemed perfectly alright with that a few weeks ago. Days ago."

"Before you tried what you did," you scoffed. "Look, I am no saint. I've murdered someone before. Like you did. Like the whole of the student council didβ€”or attempted to. But you liked me. I was expecting something better. Like setting boundaries, maybe? What a revelation."

"What a pity," Kaen murmured. "You really were my type."

"Shut up, Kaen," Inei whispered harshly to him,Β  adore he nudged Kaen to the side with force. "You aren't helping."

"You'll find someone else one day," you muttered under your breath.

"One day?" Inei said desperatelyβ€”his passive features contorted to look at you with fear. "I couldβ€”"

"β€”I'm leaving," you told them. "I'm not going to do anything drastic. Because I'm leaving. I abandoned you once, right? And you dealed with that. Do me a favor and do that again."

"You said you would marry me."

"Right," you exhaled. "I'm sorry. Past tense. We were both children then. We joked around."

"You were everything to me. Was I not your first choiceβ€”at least once? [Name], during the moments we shared together, did you not regard me as number one?"

"I don't know."

"Just give me an answer, [Name]."

"I'm sorry. You didn't do anything to me or Arata, and I thank you for that. I appreciate our friendship. I appreciate all the moments we shared together," you swallowed. "But that's it. I'm leaving."

You turned to leave.

Kaen was staring daggers at you. His lips were curled up in an unsettling smile. This, you thought, unflinchingly, was the face of the male who had nearly killed someone.

"You're not scared of what Daichi will do when he finds out?"

You scowled.

"No, you fucking asshole. Goodbye. We were friends once. We aren't now."

You slammed the door in their faces.

.

.

β€”

.

.

"Saito," you went to the boy, who was playing games by the corner. "Hey."

"[Name]!" He brightened up. "Are you here for another game?"

You laughed softly. "I'm sorry. I'm leaving the school. I just wanted to tell you that. I had fun, though, ignoring the time you tried to get me to drink acetone."

"What? You're leaving?"

"Yeah, I guess. I mean, I never really came for anything serious."

Saito frowned. "Oh. I guess Daichi can't do anything. The game is over, then?"

"Yeah, sure. Preferably."

"If you can stay for a little while more, I got a pretty cool game you might want to try out! It's pretty easy."

"Oh yeah?" You raised an eyebrow. "Can anything top Kanye or Hitler?"

"A lot, apparently. It's called; Are you an alpha or beta?"

You choked. "I'm sorry, what?"

"How would you describe yourself prior to turning into a werewolf?" Saito's face was completely serious. "That's the question. Secondβ€”"

"What kind of game is this?"

"I don't know. It was free, so."

"Oh."

"Second question. How did you transform into a werewolf? A, I was out on a walk when a wild animal jumped out of nowhere. It happened so suddenly, and I wasn't sure if I would come out alive. The next day, I realized I had turned into a werewolf. B, I don't know. I was simply chilling at home, dozing off, and the next thing I knew, I was covered in blood. C, I went looking for a beast that was rumored to live in the woods. I found it... and it bit me! D, It was genetic. Thanks, Dad, for not telling me that you were a werewolf! E, I felt like I had the flu, went to bed and woke up as a werewolf. F, No idea. I cannot even remember."

You gave it some serious thought. "I think C."

"I think it's F."

"Wait, why?"

"You forgot everyone. You forgot Inei and Daichi, so," Saito stared, before he broke into a grin. "I was kidding. I'll miss you. You're the only one remotely good at games around here. Do you think you can play with me one day?"

"I'll ask my boyfriend," you shrugged. But there was a slight smile on your face. "Goodbye, Saito."

"Goodbye."

.

.

β€”

.

.

"So, you said goodbye to four people? Inei, Kaen, Akio..."

"Saito," you supplied. "And I said bye to Jun earlier on, so that's technically five."

"Huh," Arata said after a pause. "What about Haruka? That friend of yours."

"I texted him. We'll keep in touch," you smiled. "Is this really an ideal conversation right now? We are both holding explosives."

Right. Your mission. Since you had already said farewell to everyone, be it pleasant or unpleasant, it was time to set on your mission. And why exactly had you delayed your goodbye with Daichi? Precisely because...

"[Name]." A familiar voice called out to you. "There you are."

...because you were going against the Kazuya Corporation in this mission. Some part of you wondered if your mother had purposefully set this up. You felt Arata stiffen next to you. His hand around the explosives grew firmer, and his muscles grew taut, like he was about to tossβ€”

"Heard you were leaving," Daichi smiled. His smile didn't reach his eyes. It reminded you oddly of the first smile he had flashed at you when you had stumbled out of the forest. "What a pity."

"Kazuya." You said calmly. "We are here to exterminate you."

"Not even any feelings for me? Harsh," Daichi said softly, "but if I get rid of your boyfriend, what would you do? Kill me?"

"I'll rip your tongue out," Arata murmured.

"Oh, really?"

"You're fucking sick," Arata hissed.

"When I saw youβ€”I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew." Daichi said slowly, "do you know what, [Name]? This whole situation is truly unfair. Really, really unfair. First, my mother had to wipe your memoriesβ€”because of course, a L/n couldn't be seen with a Kazuya. Imagine me with you should this stupid things never happen."

"Huh," you tilted your head. "Strange. I think not."

"Don't pretend like you are a good person. I've seen first hand myself that you aren't. You have murdered, [Name]? So has Arata. So don't pretend you are any better than me."

"I'm not a homewrecker," Arata mumbled under his breath.

Daichi continued. You furrowed your eyebrows. Weren't you guys supposed to be like, killing each other, or something?

"At first, I chose to love you in silence. To admire you from a distance. But it wouldn't work, would it? Because now you are taken from me. You are no longer mine." Daichi hissed. He held a gun. You had heard that Kazuya's heir was really good with a gun. "It wouldn't work. I had to claim you. Devise a plan."

Before you could retort, there was a loud bang! sound. Arata had fired. He had shoved you to the side. Smoke billowed about the area, glass shattered, and whatever traps or bombs exploded. Fire burst out, and all of a sudden, there was a flurry of activity.

"Give me some warning beforehand," you complained. "Ugh."

"Sorry, [Name]," Arata's tone was low. His voice held a sliver of worry. "You aren't hurt, are you?"

"Who do you think I am?" You grumbled. "Thought you wouldn't be so reckless."

"I'm sorry. That bastard just started going on and on about you, and..."

"This is starting to turn out like a fanfic. Let me see. The main character dies, the love interest passes away from grief, and..."

"This better not be foreshadowing."

"Nah. You know those BTS fanfics from 2017? 'He pulled out his member.' Like what the fuck? Those twelve year old authors need to know that BTS does not need a 8th member."

Arata choked on his laughter. You were both giggling, but it was apparent the fury had not yet left his eyes.

"What did the mission say?"

"Exterminate the enemy. If you are asking if you have permission to kill Daichi, go ahead. Where is he, anyways?"

"That wasn't very friendly, was it?"

"Jesus, Daichi. Stop scaring me, bastard," you hissed. The ammunition was full. Without hesitation, you pulled the trigger, starting a round of rapid fire shots. You could hear some of it going against the bullet proof armorβ€”useless against Daichi.

"I'm going to kill him," Arata said cheerfully. There was a flowery aura around him. "Can I, [Name]?"

"By shooting, or.."

Arata seemed really pissed. He mimed a little swiping motion. You saw then, that in his hands, he held a dagger.

"Ooh," you blinked. "Okay...be careful. I'll guard."

The smoke hadn't cleared up properly yet. By now there was a babble of noiseβ€”your alliance members flooding in, exchanging bullets and blows with Kazuya. You tried to look for Peppa and SpongeBob from the earlier kidnapping attempt. You couldn't find them, and supposed they didn't belong to Kazuya. You tracked Arata's movementsβ€”then you stilled.

If it was a usual situation, you would have poked fun at the supposed plausible homoerotic tension. Arata was straddling Daichi, a dagger poised in the air, ready to strike. Similar to Arata, Daichi had a knife at Arata's neck. Both were perfectly still.

"Damn it," you cursed under your breath.

"I won't kill him," Daichi said sweetly. "On a condition, of course."

"Who is to say my blade won't move faster than yours?" Arata tilted his head.

"I don't know. Would [Name] want the risk? I doubt so."

"Shut the fuck up, Daichi," you hissed.

"Coming from the one who used to follow me around like a little puppy. This hurts."

You glanced at Arata. "So?"

Arata sighed. "Don't listen to him."

Daichi's hand pressed the knife harder against Arata's skin. Arata did the same. Blood trickled down. A normal person would have slashed wildly at any given opportunity. But when it came to assassinations, such careless movements could not be done. Every second counted. Every millisecond. One wrong moveβ€”

"β€”so what's your condition?"

"You already know, don't you?"

"How about you verablise your fucking thoughts?"

"So angry," Daichi murmured. "So unlike you, [Name]. You were so sweet."

"You are too hung up on the past," you gritted out.

"But the past was so wonderful," Daichi said softly, "so beautiful. You were so beautiful, [Name]. And now you are corrupted. You hate me. I wonder why."

Arata pressed harder. "I'm going to kill you."

Daichi choked; before he smiled, his mouth bloody. "I take that as a no, then, [Name]? You won't follow me? You won't love me?"

"You love me, don't you?" You had started walking up to him, your gun in your hands. "You would do anything I asked for."

"Perhaps," Daichi smiled. "I would."

"How about you die for me?"

"I don't mind his brains blowing out on my hands," Arata added.

You pressed the gun on Daichi's forehead. You reached out to touch his hands gently; feeling how he stiffened. Then tenderly, sweetly, and also viciouslyβ€”you pried the knife from his grasp. Arata's knife pressed against his throat. Your gun pressed against his forehead.

"That's it? You'll give up?"

"I don't know. This was anticlimactic. I expected..." Daichi gave a laugh. "I chased you my whole life. So did Arata, I suppose;Β  but look. You hate me. I could drug you, I could feed you with the same memory loss drugs my mother did...."

"You killed your mother, didn't you? When you were a child. It's a famous story."

"We are opposites." Daichi sighed. "I thought opposites attracted."

"Mm," Arata made a non committal sound. "Sounds to me you just have major avoidant issues. Scared of rejection. Poor guy."

"Ooh!" You changed the subject. "Yeah, I totally can see it. How aboutβ€”hm. What about we set Daichi up on a blind date?"

"What?"

"Oh, nothing much," you shrugged. "I think you just need someone new to crush on. Like...I don't know. It just occurred to me that you are like this because of a single crush. Go bang Jun or something. Seems like you both could really need it."

"So..." Arata frowned. "We don't kill him?"

"I mean, do you want to?"

"Well, once we made sense of this situation, it doesn't seem very necessary, does it?"

"No," Arata shrugged. "But do I get the interrogation rights? Like after we catch him and show that we defeated him as proof to your mom. Then we can go on a date. What show do you wanna watch?"

"Suits?" You guessed.

"Oh, yeah, that's good."

"Sounds like a plan," you said cheerfully. Terry slid from your pocket and made an approving hiss. "Okay, uh...I've tied up Daichi's wrists with a rope of unknown but really strong material. Let's go. The other extras will clean up this mess."

Daichi blinked. "You're just going to let me go?"

"Jesus. Don't be so hung up over a first love. Find someone else."

"Huh."

"Bye," you shrugged, dragging Arata along. "Goodbye, Daichi."

.

.

β€”

.

.

"That's all, right? I've said goodbye to everyone."

"All of it was so anticlimactic in the end," Arata sighed. "How was school in the end?"

"Other than the fact I got embroiled into some stupid rivalry-shit, it was fine. Nothing new."

"What will your mom say?" Arata squeezed your hand.

"Oh, fuck, I didn't tell her earlier."

"[Name]," Arata said in fond exasperation, "go tell her now."

"Would have been nice if there were more exams, though. I heard there was a student who couldn't take the stress and stuck pencils up his nose. Then he head butted the table."

"What was going through his head?"

You looked at him with confusion. "A pencil?"

Arata gave a soft, warm laugh. "I suppose."

You looped your arm through Arata's. "Let's just go home."
