THE FALL MONTHS faded into winter fast, and before Charlotte knew it, she and Olivia were boarding a flight back to Oregon for the holidays.

Jordan left Los Angeles sooner than the two by nearly two weeks. She wanted more time with her mom seeing as she got little to none last year. This year, she would be there for nearly the whole month of December—returning just days before New Year's Eve.

Charlotte and Olivia arrived back home, where they finally saw some snow on the ground. As much as the two loved summer all year round, they missed the cold every once in a while.

Their mother, Abigail, was there to greet them when their plan landed and welcomed them both with open arms. Charlotte could have even swore she saw a tear slip from her mother's eyes, despite the fact that she saw them less than a year ago when Charlotte played a show in Portland while on tour.

The two had been in Oregon a total of four days and they've already managed to visit their favorite places. Seeing as that was very little, they've spent a lot of time at home with their parents.

Their parents lived in the same home for as long as Charlotte had been alive—though it had its fare share of renovations. She thanked her parents everyday for never selling her childhood home, even if it had been nearing it's last days. Charlotte and Olivia considered it a fundamental part of who they were, and they always appreciated the view.

Their parents had an modern beach house with a perfect view of the ocean, which had been within walking distance. Charlotte would find herself down at the beach a few times during her returns just to watch the sunset over the water. Or in the winter, watch the snowflakes fall onto the sandy beaches.

That was one view California could never provide her: snow on the beach. It only ever came for a few days out of the year, but it never failed to amaze her.

In fact, that's where Charlotte resided currently. She was at the beach, watching the sunset while snow fell around her. She was freezing her ass off, but she couldn't have imagined anything else. It was definitely worth the frost-bite.

She had her AirPods in one ear, listening to Taylor Swift's newly released album while Olivia sat beside her. They were cuddled close in a blanket, watching the snowflakes fall. Their parents were taking their elderly golden retriever, Lola, on a walk down the beach while the two girls watched the view.

Until, Charlotte felt her phone buzz. The notification ran through in her headphones and she smiled at who was texting her.
