Chapter 13: Sorry Not Sorry

You woke up in such a good mood today.

So good that you spared Timothy the glitter and just left him tied to the ceiling without burning, exploding, or glittering a single hair strand on him. You applauded yourself for being so malevolent.

So what were you going to do today?

Well first...

"Latissa, Latissa, Latissa, my dear,A haven for mischief, where trouble draws near," you hummed jovially with a smile of mischief plastered on your face.

You walked along the familiar path, a few turns here and there. The amber on the rocky ceiling of Latissa seemed to be more brighter, aligning with your very good mood. Though, you also didn't know why you were in such a good mood today. Perhaps something good was about to occur.

You came to a halt in front of an inconspicuous inn that blended too well for its environment. No one would even realize this place existed unless they looked at it more than a few times.

BANG.

Glitter in the air, your cape waving dramatically, and your charming face was seen as you struck the pose of the greatest showman.

Then you exclaimed, "I, the greatest bard in the whole universe has arri-"

You caught sight of a grown up figure. A half witch that shouldn't be there. "Uh, who are you?" You squinted your eyes. Your glitter effects falling onto the ground listlessly.

"(Name)!" You heard Amber's voice cry out from somewhere as she arrived with hurried footsteps. "We just cleaned the place!" She puffed her cheeks adorably and crossed her arms as she looked at the glitter on the ground.

"Who is this? A hostage?" You held your arms towards the grown man who was still holding a broom and looking at you.

"I uhhh..." Gilbert stuttered as you approached him.

"I remember you from somewhere." You walked towards him, summoning your flute with narrowed eyes.

Gilbert slowly backed away and held the broom to shield himself.

You pointed your pitch black flute to the poor half with who was now cornered on the wall. "Who are you?"

Katya's head popped up from the back of the couch on the lounge. "Dude, leave the poor guy alone. He's a new recruit who arrived a few days ago."

"New recruit? Since when did Raine start recruiting?" You arched a brow and glanced at the head on the couch.

"I don't know, don't ask me," Katya said as she continued scrolling on her hexscroll with uninterest.

"Sorry, can you put that thing away?" Gilbert lightly pushed your flute away with his finger. "I'm Gilbert remember?"

"Gulibert who now?"

He sighed. "You literally saved me here in Latissa."

"I don't save nobody," you said as you crossed your arms.

"I heard from the captain that you sent him to jail to get his name cleared up," Amber said.

You hit your palm with a fist as you finally came to a moment of realization. "Oh right, you're the guy who kept hitting your head on the floor just to beg me to save you."

"Thats... a very weird way to describe it but yes," Gilbert crunched up his face upon hearing you. For the record he did kowtow on the ground but he didn't beg you like a beggar.

"Eh, whatever." You put your flute away and smiled. "Welcome to the team!" You jumped and put your shoulder on the back of his neck weighing him down to your height.

"From here on out, you do as I say because I am the leader," you smirked devilishly.

"Who said you were the leader? " Katya said from the couch.

"Me." You put your hand to your chest with a smug face, your expression glittering with daring confidence.

Amber laughed lightly. "I'm glad you're quick to accept him. Derwin was worried you'd put him through one of your initiation challenges."

"Initiation what now?" Gilbert felt a pang of worry and fear crawl up his skin and turned to you just to see you glancing down on him with a creepy smile.

"You wouldn't right, (Name)?" Amber smiled worriedly. Perhaps she shouldn't have mentioned it.

Derwin, Katya, and Amber had been through your so called 'initiation challenge'. They would never forget the pain and suffering they went through when they had teatime with your child. Oh Titans, the taste of poison drowning them still made their spines shudder.

"Oh please, I definitely would." You let go of the poor grown witch who gulped down his fear. You smiled deviously as you patted his back. "But another time."

Amber sighed in relief. She hoped you would forget that 'another time' of yours.

"So, what's my mission?" You curved your eyes with a hungry face.

"Oh, right," Amber scratched her head. "Let me just get the report from Derwin's office." She proceeded to head towards the deeper part of the inn.

As soon as the kind and caring Amber disappeared from sight, Gilbert started scooting away from you following his instincts about his bad premonition.

You glanced at him with a knowing smile, silently but slowly approaching him with your hand touching the shiny vials on your waist.

"Don't," Katya's voice resounded.

"I haven't even done anything yet." You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms.

"Whatever it is, don't even think about it."

"Bummer," you scoffed childishly.

Gilbert looked back and fort to you and Katya before wisely deciding to scoot as near as he could to the snappish kid on the sofa. "Am I safe?" He whispered without taking his eyes off you.

"You won't die, don't worry," Katya responded in a low voice.

"That's not very reassuring," he whispered back.

"I can hear the two of you." You crunched your face.

"Here it is!" Amber steps back into the lounge with hurried footsteps carrying a piece of paper on her hands.

She then handed you the report packed with the details of your mission today.

"Wild witches?" You arched an eyebrow upon reading the contents of your mission.

The report was about intercepting the emperor's forces that a group of wild witches may encounter while on their escape. According to the report, it's been a day since the group of wild witches had arrived at a small town in Bone marsh to recuperate from the grave injuries that the emperor's forces had inflicted upon them.

"So I have to be a bodyguard?" You held the report and scanned it one more time to make sure.

"Yes, I think that's what the report was hinting," Amber said.

"Ohhhhh... that's... really boring." You frowned and sighed. With a quick whistle, the paper on your hand dissipated into thin air, becoming ashes that fell onto the ground silently.

"Alright! Time to go!" You dramatically turned around, your cloak flying up in the air as you marched away.

Gilbert sighed in relief as he watched your leaving back.

Swoosh! Gilbert yelped and caught a pink spherical bottle.

"That's a gift from me! Muwah, at au revoir!" You winked and closed the door with a loud resounding bang.

Gilbert glanced down on the pink bottle in his hand.

The door opened again. Your head peeked inside. "By the way, don't shake that, don't throw that, and don't damage it. It'll explode with acidic glitter that can melt through metal and skin."

And with that, the door closed once more, leaving the inn with a quiet peace at last.

Gilbert silently winced as he held the glitter bomb carefully and put it down on the table.

He turned to the two witch kids. "Are they clinically insane or just incredibly weird?"

"Both," Katya and Amber said in unison.

"That explains a lot."

Hunter treaded upon a small village at Bone marsh. He walked out in the open, scanning the unassuming modest wooden houses and the small stalls selling vegetables. As he strolled, he gained curious gazes from the onlookers and some inaudible whispers.

Why was the mighty image of the golden guard in their small and modest village? Witches and demons started becoming alarmed and worried.

"I swear to the Titans..." Hunter cursed under his breath. He just arrived a few moments ago.

He was tasked to capture some wild witches that had bypassed the security in Bonesborough. According to the report, they were seen hiding somewhere in a small village in Bone marsh. Some of the witches were injured, thus, they should still be here somewhere.

However, what pissed of Hunter was that, Kikimora refused to give him back up saying 'The almighty golden guard should have the capability to handle it'. It wasn't that Hunter needed some scouts anyway but the thought of Kikimora's smug face while taunting him really irritated his sleep deprived nerves.

"You." Hunter pointed his staff over to a nervous witch. "Have you seen any witches that arrived here recently?"

"N-No!" The witch gulped in fear.

"Lying to a coven officer is a grave offense," Hunter scowled as his staff started to glow red.

"I... I- The Inn! They were in the Inn!" The witch exclaimed as he knelt down. "Please spare me!"

Hunter clicked his tongue and turned to his heels immediately. He had no time to spare.

Within a few minutes, he had already arrived in the one and only Inn that the witch had told him about. It was a tall wooden building that was enough to shelter many customers, which included those injured wild witches.

You fixed your concealment stone as you sat somewhere at the noisy bar of the inn. This place was really like those typical adventure inns where there would be a bar on the first floor and then the rest are just rooms for the customers to stay the night.

You watched as demons and witches enjoyed their food and beer with flushed faces and loud mouths. Some were even gambling over the far corner with their pungent smokes. You've always hated the smell of smoke. You would rather eat the intestines of a live arachnid.

"They should be leaving quite soon," you whispered.

"Would you like to order?" A waiter came to tend to you.

"Just give me cacti juice." You waved your hand to make the waiter leave.

You sighed. The wild witches you needed to guard were somewhere upstairs. There were at least five of them and about three of them were injured. You've delivered your high quality healing potions anonymously and they should be already healed and ready to leave.

As soon as the beverage was placed in front of you, you rested your chin on your hand and waited for something to happen. Surely the emperor's coven would send like a few coven scouts to capture the wild witches right?

BANG.

You widened your eyes and sprayed the contents you had just drank.

The door was kicked open. The laughing and noisy chitter and chatter in the Inn immediately quieted down. All eyes was on the new golden figure who had arrived. Then followed by the joint noisy whispers of the crowd.

Hunter ignored the whispers and the stares and went straight to the reception area.

"Goldenbutt?" You watched wide eyes as GG interrogated the poor receptionist. Oh Titans what the heck was he doing here?

"R-Room 101, sir." The receptionist nervously handed him the list of those who had entered the inn recently.

To think that they'd get themselves in trouble for taking wild witches as customers, and it was the golden guard who came too! His image was like a representation of the emperor himself. The receptionist couldn't take any chances of lying and protecting some random wild witches.

"Good," Hunter grunted as he turned towards the stairs.

A hand wrapped itself around his shoulders. "GG!" You smiled as you put your shoulders around him. "What a coincidence!"

Hunter widened his eyes. If he hadn't heard your annoying voice then he would have thrown you over his shoulders then to the ground and beat you up. He really wanted to do that though.

"Why are you here?" Hunter glowered lowly with a deep breath. Despite the concealment stone that you wore, GG always seemed to recognize you. It made you sometimes wonder if your concealment stone had any effect at all.

"Oh, uh, I'm a regular here you see?" you lied through your teeth with a smile.

Hunter forcefully removed your hand from his shoulder and looked at the rowdy crowd of burly demons drinking beer like crazy. "A regular?" He frowned.

You simply grinned as a response.

"You know what- I don't even want to ask. Leave me alone, I am on a mission," Hunter said and continued walking up the wooden stairs, each step creaking as he hastily did.

"What kind of mission?" you followed him and asked.

"It's none of your business," he said.

You followed behind him closely as he went through the hallways, searching for a certain room. He came to a sudden halt making you bump behind his back. You winced as you held your nose.

"Would you stop following me?" Hunter turned to you.

"I am not following you goldenbutt. We are merely going in the same direction," you huffed and crossed your arms.

Hunter groaned in frustration and threw his hands up in the air with a shake of his head. He had a mission to do and Titans be damned he just had to meet you here. And with that, he simply acted like you didn't exist.

You followed goldenbutt every step of the way, curious and vigilant of his mission. If the Titans really decided to have both your missions clash together - you protecting the wild witches and him capturing the wild witches, then fuck. You'd be terribly sorry for GG but you needed him to fail this one.

The two of you came to a halt. It was a familiar door that you knew belonged to your supposed clients. Well, fuck the Titans, the two of you did have the same mission.

What should you do? Fight the golden guard here and expose yourself as a vigilante? Risk getting the wild witches you were supposed to protect to be captured?

Hunter brandished his staff and pointed it on the door, it's red gem glowing ominously and ready to shoot.

"Wait!" You pulled back his shoulder. "What if this is the wrong room?"

"Move." Hunter moved his shoulder away from you and looked at the door once more.

"Wait! What if we see some unholy things if we barge in!"

Hunter turned to you ridiculously behind his mask. "Wha- Nevermind. Would you stop disturbing me?!"

"I just want to make sure okay?" You raised both your hands.

Hunter grunted and pointed his staff towards the door.

"Wai-"

BAM. You glanced at the burnt and cracked wall behind you. Thank the Titans for your reflexes making you duck down.

Hunter turned back towards the room and aimed his staff.

BAM.

The wooden door was instantly blown away. There was a witch inside, just halfway out the window. They looked at the golden guard. Then they flipped off their finger and left on their staff.

"Halt!" Hunter shouted as he shot the window. The witch was gone.

You sighed in relief. But it was soon quickly cut off as Hunter quickly rode on his staff to follow the wild witches.

You cursed under your breath. Your palisman wasn't with you today. That little bird had too much cotton candy and sweets and had to take a day off in Darius's place. You really felt jealous sometimes knowing that your palisman preferred to stay with Darius than go to adventures with you.

You ran outside.

"You wild witches have been roaming free for long enough!" Hunter shouted as he used telekinesis to slam a witch down on the stalls, causing the others to stop and quickly fight the golden guard.

Okay what do you do now? You can't fight the goldenbutt head on or else you are going to expose yourself and make him doubt your real identity.

Think (Name), think. What are you good at? Messing things up. So all you need to do is mess GG's mission without him getting a hint about your real intention! Great plan.

You barged inside the inn once more.

"Hey fuckers!" you called out to the demons inside.

The whole place inside instantly became dead silent as all eyes were on you. You smiled deviously and raised both your middle fingers to flip them off.

Shing. All their blades and weapons were drawn. They all looked at you with angry expressions and growling voices.

"Catch me if you can weaklings!"

Hunter groaned as his left arm was bruised from a spell. Despite fighting all 5 of the wild witches alone, he still had the upper hand. But if the fight goes on, he was certainly bound to lose. He can't afford to lose now. Not when he still needs to prove himself worthy.

Hunter dodged and rolled to the side as he twirled his staff and shot a quick laser beam, hitting one of the younger wild witches. With swift movements he casted a circle to put magical restrainers on the witch.

"Let me go you bastard!" The young witch cried out as they tried to wiggle themselves free to no avail.

Hunter felt a rumble underneath him. He quickly jumped on his staff and avoided the ground that condensed into deadly spikes.

Didn't Kikimora say that the wild witches were gravely injured? Which of them were gravely injured? They were damn alive and still kicking well! That lying monster.

"Accept your fate, wild witches," Hunter glowered.

"You authorative freaks from the emperor's coven know nothing!" a witch shouted as they charged straight towards Hunter. A bold move but a big mistake.

Hunter teleported behind their back causing their eyes to widen. They were struck with a laser beam and fell on the ground with a loud thud.

"Three more to go." Hunter glanced to the witches that held their staffs on the ground. They gulped in fear.

The golden guard was clearly stronger than them. They've practiced wild magic without any guidance from any experienced instructors so they never really reached their potential. They only wanted to practice magic and never give up any of it to join covens so they turned themselves into wild witches.

They never really had any intentions of causing trouble with the emperor's coven. Why was the emperor so intent on capturing wild witches and forcing them into covens anyway?

"You have to kill us first, golden guard," another of the wild witch seethed in anger.

"Fair," Hunter shrugged. Dead or alive, as long as he could fulfill his mission then fine.

Hunter teleported and clashed staffs with the wild witch. He dodged as one of them shot a pitifully weak fireball.

With a wave of his staff, Hunter made the ground surge up causing the witches to tumble and fall onto each other.

"This ends here." Hunter aimed his glowing red staff on the wild witches who looked at him with unmasked hatred. They really wanted to rip his body in half for that cocky attitude.

You ran as fast as you can with a horde of angry drunk demons running after you.

Seeing GG's body on sight, you refused to slow down but instead ran faster with a smile. Sorry for the golden guard is all you can give, you need to accomplish your mission more than him.

BAM.

You rolled on the ground as you slammed your body on GG as hard as you could.

Hunter groaned. "What the- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Hunter shouted at the top of his lungs as the both of you picked yourself up from the ground.

"You're the one who was on my way!" you shouted.

Hunter was about to retort angrily until he heard a loud snap behind him. He sharply turned around to see that the witch he had restrained was freed by the remaining witches.

"Halt!" he shouted as he aimed his staff towards them and held them with telekinesis.

You widened your eyes and pushed GG once more on the ground, narrowly avoiding an axe that had been thrown by the horde of demons.

"FOR FUCKS SAKE (NAME)!" Hunter finally cursed out with your name.

"We're going to die!" You summoned your flute once more and played a tune, pushing the demons away with a powerful wave.

Hunter quickly took his staff and turned to the witches who were escaping on their staffs. He quickly rode on his staff just to feel a dead weight behind him.

"Get off!" Hunter shouted in fuming anger. One more moment and he was going to blast you from existence.

"No way! I don't have my staff!" you cried out and gripped onto his staff tighter. You didn't have an escape plan against those taunted demons.

Hunter groaned in extreme frustration as he watched the wild witches get farther. He could have caught them by now if it weren't for you!

You hadn't really expected GG to actually fly on his staff with you. You yelped as your feet was taken off from the ground in a terrifying speed and height. You gripped the staff tighter hoping for the Titans to have mercy on your ass.

The horde of angry demons watched as they helplessly watch you leave on the golden guard's staff.

You were going to die. You were going to die. You are going to die.

The goldenbutt was merciless as he swerved and maneuvered in the air, avoiding the relentless attacks from the wild witches who was escaping. Hunter knew that catching all of them was impossible now but if he could only take at least one then... but it was hard with your dead weight from behind him.

"I'm going to die!" you cried out. You gripped his staff tighter feeling the cold wind sharply brush on your skin.

"I really hope you do!" GG spat out in anger as he shot a red laser beam only to miss. He couldn't aim.

He needed you to fall down.

You inhaled sharply as goldenbutt raised his staff horizontally up the air. You held the staff but you were quickly losing your grip as the wind was blowing you down to your death.

"Are you crazy?!" you shouted as he hastened his speed going high up horizontally in the air.

Hunter swore he could feel himself smiling at the thought of you falling to your death right now. But something unexpected happened.

As you lost your grip on the staff, you held onto your only life saving grace. His cape. Well, guess how that turned out?

Hunter lost his grip on his staff.

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!" Hunter cried out at the top of his lungs as the two of you were falling down quickly to your death.

"YOU WERE GOING TO MURDER ME!" You shouted as you gripped his cape tighter, making him choke.

"Get your hands off me!" Hunter screamed as he tried to grab the staff that was falling right beside the both of you.

"No!" You kept holding onto his cape. If you were going to let go of it then for sure you would die.

Hunter tried over and over again to grab his staff in the air. The ground was getting closer and it never seemed more welcoming to greet the death of the two most annoying kids in this world.

"We're going to die!" You watched as the orange trees of the forest started to get nearer and nearer.

Hunter grabbed his staff. Just as the two of you were about to hit the ground, he stopped as he hovered in the air. You didn't stop along with him though, causing you to pull on his cape with your dead weight.

"You FU-!" Hunter cried out only to be pulled by his cape to fall down along with you and choke.

You shielded your hands from the trees, branches, sticks, and leaves of the tree that you had fallen in. With a loud thud, you painfully fell onto the ground on your back. You swore, you were starting to taste the metallic blood on your mouth from the impact.

Hunter on the bother hand hit a large branch causing him to painfully dangle on the branch with his body. He groaned from the impact of the branch to his stomach.

"That hurts," you inhaled sharply. You didn't break one of your ribs now did you?

After a few minutes of painfully staying in your positions to catch your breaths, Hunter felt his blurry eyes clear up with the first thing he saw was your body on the ground.

"You..." he scowled with extreme difficulty.

You smiled. Your mission was a success.

Hunter took your smiley face the wrong way and thought that you were taunting him. He grunted and pushed himself off the branch with slow movements. He fell on his feet painfully on the grass.

"Look Goldie..." you coughed and knelt on one knee. "I'm really so-"

"Shut it," Hunter said in a cold voice. So cold that it sent a cold gush of wind on your back. He started inching towards you slowly with a hand on his stomach.

You took the hint and shut your mouth. His cracked mask and murderous aura was all you needed to see to know what his response was going to be. He was not going to forgive you.

You knew for a fact that GG was a workaholic and success seeker freak. For a witch that has never failed a single mission, you knew the pain you'd feel if your hard won streak was ever destroyed.

You were wrong. Hunter wasn't mad because of the mission that you caused him to fail. No no, he wasn't angry because of that. Hunter simply reached his limit of tolerating your behavior. If the Titans did not forbid murder then perhaps he would have been burying you somewhere under wild plants.

"GG..?" You watched as the quiet golden guard with a murderous aura inch closer and closer towards you.

He was one step away from your figure on the ground. He looked down on you and removed his other hand that held his stomach.

Snap. You snapped your fingers and disappeared from sight, leaving only the hand drawn circle on the ground.

"(Name)..." Hunter glowered.

"I will kill you."

A candle flickers, wind does moan,

A figure stands, so cold, alone,

With steady hand, and heart of ice,

They plot a path, precise, concise.

Author: I had to put my head in the freezer for 30 mins to get this chapter done. It really helps with head aches and writers' block.
