Chapter Twenty-Three: Devils

"Gio!"

Hanbin yelled so loudly that I cringed. I wasn't the only one shooting him an angry look as Jiwoong was apparently also offended by his teammate's rude behavior at the moment.

The three of us had been drafted for the trio performance and weren't really getting along that great.

"Where are you with your thoughts?" he sighed disappointedly while pointing at my feet. "That's the third time you missed your steps!"

"Sorry," I mumbled, resisting the urge to flip him off. Jiwoong just looked bored as if this entire thing wasn't to his interest at all. Yet, he had been cordial with me. Hanbin and I were butting heads all day every day, and it mustn't be easy for our third comrade.

"Just tired, I guess," I replied.

"Well, maybe you shouldn't wake up at six every morning. Apparently, it isn't working for you." Hanbin snapped while marching toward his position again, and I rolled my eyes at him.

Allison had told me Hanbin and her had worked great together in the last duo thing. Not surprisingly, since I also didn't match well with the girl.  I guess the two of them weren't my cup of tea.

I guess it did help when you rank first in the first ranking as both of them did for the boys and the girls, respectively. Allison and Hanbin had not been expecting it, but as I saw the two of them sitting on that giant chair in the middle of the announcement area, I could see the picture working. The two of them would be our centers, and it would be a perfect visual. I would never say it out loud to either of them.

Someone knocked on our studio C door and speaking of the devil. She walked in, and even her sweat looked high fashion as she had clearly been working out, but on her, it didn't look like she had been dragged through the streets of Seoul behind a bus as it did for some others. I quickly fixed my lion's mane.

Allison was wearing the white jogging set, but she had the little white crop top thingy on with the giant logo of Star Planet, which was a half-pink and half-blue star. Her brown hair was in a high ponytail, making her high cheekbones stand out even more.

She carried a tray of something in her palms, and the delicious smell of cookies drifted my way.

"My mom sent them," she said with a slight blush. She sure as hell wasn't as confident as I would have thought for someone that beautiful. She entered the room and placed the tray in the right corner on a lone chair. "I thought I would bring them by. I have more than enough for me, my room, and my subgroup."

Jiwoong and Hanbin's eyes got a sparkle they lacked for the entire day. Great, just great.

"Thanks, Alli, that's really nice of you!" Hanbin said while walking her way and dragging her in for a quick hug in greeting. I didn't miss Jiwoong's eyes trailing toward Hanbin's hand. His gleeful look dispersed like snow in the sun.

"How's training going? I haven't seen you for days!"

Allison snorted, "you saw me Monday! We ran into each other in the dining hall, remember?"

"Yeah, but it isn't the same. Not when we practiced together every day for a week!"

I wanted to add that I had been practicing every day with Allison, too, for the group thingy, but I didn't miss her at all. I wisely kept my mouth shut. With this audience, it wouldn't go over well. Besides, I had been glad all week that I didn't have to see her after 4 in the afternoon when the three-hour duo performance training began.

I guess I was a little grateful for Gunwook. I would never say that to his face, but I missed the dork. We had been drafted in the group performance and the duo one, so it had been a lot of one-on-one time last week. I heard from him yesterday and this morning since we both had secret phones. His training with Choonhae and Ricky was going great. However, he missed me a lot.

His words, not mine.

Yet, they could have been.

Allison acknowledged me with  a slight wave without any merit. There was no love lost between us.

When her eyes found my other teammate, they lit up like a Christmas tree. They became even bigger somehow, and she actually looked like a Disney princess at that moment staring at her Disney prince.

"Hi," she said with a big smile. A perfect smile, all white and blinding. She could model for a toothpaste ad. Maybe she already had?

"Jagiya, how've you been?" Jiwoong nearly pushed Hanbin into the cookies as he maneuvered between them and hugged her. Nothing like the shoulder pat thingy he had done. Nope. This was a play of dominance. Something Hanbin caught instantly as his stance changed.

"I missed you," Jiwoong whispered, but I had heard it. Hanbin had too.

"Are they taking good care of you over there?" Jiwoong continued. He stepped back, eyebrows drawn together as he scanned her for anything wrong.

"I'm with Chanbin and Billie. It's an entertaining group. I laughed so hard today, my belly ached."

"Choonhae's twin brother, right?" Hanbin asked with his arms crossed. Clearly, a little bit ticked off. Jiwoong still had hands on Allison's shoulders.

Allison nodded.

"Anyway, I better get going." She stepped out of Jiwoong's embrace. She hugged Hanbin quickly, and I got another feeble little wave. I gave her the same back.

"Are we still on for Korean BBQ tonight?" she asked Jiwoong as she walked towards the door.

"I'll meet you at eight in the lobby, alright?" He replied.

She gave him a thumbs-up before leaving. Both guys stared at the door for a few seconds, watching her walk away with the grace of a feline cat.

She truly was something.
