Thank God it was a Saturday. The first week of the year is in the books and I am drained mentally and emotionally. "I'm tired, Rands. Can't you just walk Cooper by yourself?" I mumbled into my pillow as my sister continued to tug at my shirt. "No. Mom and dad said that if I wanted to walk Cooper, you had to come with me." Miranda replied.

"Miranda, I'm tired. I am mentally, emotionally and now I am physically drained." I said while facing my sister. "You're just doing this to yourself you know? You can literally just take Brennan back in and everything will be back to normal." Miranda said as she jumped onto my bed. I felt a warm furry feeling by my side and I knew it was Cooper.

"It's not that easy, Rands." I said. "What's not that easy?" She asked matter-of-factly. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. "See? Exactly. It's that easy." She said. "As if you've been in a relationship before." I said as I buried my head in my pillow again. "Almost." She said. "Ryan Donnelly does not count." I chuckled. "Yes he does!" Miranda defended. "By like point-five." I laughed.

"Ugh. You suck." She said while rolling her eyes. "You suck more." I replied with a laugh. I sat up with my back against my pillows as my sister and I wrapped each other in a cuddle.

"I know you miss him. We all know." Miranda said. "Oh babe..." I whispered as I stroked my sister's hair. "It's true, Monica. You try so hard to deny it but it shows. You can't live without Brennan." She replied. "We've been broken up for weeks now. I'm still alive." I chuckled. "Yeah, but you're dying inside." She said. She wasn't wrong.

"I'm thinking it over, okay, Rands?" I gently told my sister. "There was a lot of exchange of words the day we broke up and those words still eat at me like I'm its prey." I explained. "He's really sorry." Miranda replied, the sadness in her voice evident. "I know he is, babe. That's why I'm thinking it all over." I replied.

"He learned to play the guitar for you. He bought you Guylian. Think of the possibilities and what he could do next!" Miranda beamed. "No, that'd be hoping for too much." I laughed. "Umm... no. You're in a relationship with Brennan Donnelly. Nothing's ever too much for him." Miranda said. "Correction: was. I was in a relationship with Brennan Donnelly." I smiled. "Whatever." Miranda said. "Point is, Brennan loves you and you love Brennan. You don't need to think anything over anymore." She said.

"You know, how about we just take Cooper on that walk so you can shut up about Brennan?" I laughed. "Thank you!" She sighed. "It's almost dinner and you want to walk our dog. You're so weird. You should've done this while the sun was up higher." I laughed. "Well I'm a Campbell and Campbells are weird." She responded. "Good point." I laughed.

Just as we were putting on Cooper's body harness, the doorbell rang. "I got it!" I yelled as I ran to the door with Cooper in my arms. Lo and behold, it was Brennan Donnelly once more.

"Told you nothing's ever too much." Miranda said from behind me. "Can you shut up?" I whispered to my sister. "Who is it, love?" Mom asked. Brennan held up a finger and held up a huge board with words written on it.

Tell her it's me, it read. "It's Brennan." I called out, confused as to where this was going. "Oh! Tell him to come in!" Mom called from the kitchen. Tell her I just came to drop off something, the next board read. "He just came to drop something off." I called out. "Alright then." Mom replied.

"Brennan, what are you–" He didn't let me finish because he held up another board. Just give me one last chance. I sighed and then nodded. This is some Love Actually shit, ain't it? I laughed and nodded. "Definitely." I said. A smile crept up his face.

Monica, I'm sorry for being such a jerk

And I'm sorry I failed to see that

I totally understand if you don't want to get back together

But I need you to know that you're my world, the board had a drawing of the world with my face on top of it which made me smile.

You're my sunshine and you're my life, this time it was an edited picture of my face as the sun just as if I was the sun from Teletubbies. That one really made me laugh.

But if you'll forgive me and give me a second chance

I'll be better and I'll make sure you're treated like the queen you are

I want to spend every day knowing that I could give you everything I have to offer, tears were circling my eyes at this point.

As Rick Astley said, a picture of Rick Astley on the side made me laugh.

Brennan sighed as he dropped that last board. He bent down and collected the many boards and turned around. He was halfway through our yard and I was torn. To call him back or not to call him back? AAAAHHHHH!!!!

"I already found that someone who'd give me the best." I said as I struggled to fight the tears. Brennan turned back around, his eyes threatening to spill some tears too. "And he's standing right in front of me." I said, my heart racing by the second.

His eyes widened and my sister was squealing from behind me. Brennan pointed to himself in shock. I nodded. "It's always been you, Brennan Donnelly." I said. I handed Cooper to my sister and ran to Brennan.

He dropped the boards and caught me in a hug and spun me around. He put me down and cupped my face in his hands. His eyes no longer hesitated to spill the tears and neither did mine. "I promise, Monica. I promise with my whole self that I'll be better. I'll treat you better this time and I'll love you even more." Brennan said as he struggled to get out the words through his tears. "I know, Brennan. I know." I smiled as our foreheads pressed against each other.

"I love you, Monica Campbell." He whispered so gently and so purely. "I love you too, Brennan Donnelly." I replied. He lifted up my chin so our eyes were looking deep into each other. And as if it was an instinct, our lips collided in a chaste and passionate kiss that I didn't know I missed so much. I could feel him smile through the kiss and that made me smile too.

When we pulled apart, we collided in a hug. It was the best hug I've gotten from him and I never wanted to let go. But even that had an end, so when we let go all that was left of us were the huge smiles on our faces. "You wanna have dinner with us?" I asked. "If your parents don't mind, then yeah, sure." He chuckled. "Trust me, they've been dying to have you back." I laughed as I pulled him into the house.

"Mom! Brennan's staying for dinner!" I called out happily. Miranda gave Brennan a hug then he bent down to rub Cooper's head. Mom appeared out of the kitchen in her apron with a huge smile on her face. "Oh Brennan! It's so nice to see you again, dear!" Mom smiled as she gave him a hug. "Nice to see you too, Miss Eliza." He smiled.

Dad followed a few minutes later while he was drying his hands on a towel. "Hey daddy! D'you mind if Brennan stays over for dinner?" I asked. "Definitely not. It's good to have you back, son." Daddy smiled as he and Brennan shook hands. "Good to be back, sir." Brennan smiled.

"Well, let's head on over to the table and have some dinner, shall we?" Dad smiled. We all cheered as we headed to the table. We said grace and before we could dig in, mom gave a toast.

"To Monica and Brennan. May their days be filled with love and joy." Mom smiled. "To Monica and Brennan!" Dad and Miranda cheered as we all raised our juice-filled glasses.

The rest of dinner was spent talking about how we've all been since the break up and how we were all glad that Brennan and I were back. Brennan Donnelly and I were back together and I couldn't be happier. He's the love of my life and I plan for it to stay that way.
