The title speaks for itself. This is a compilation of thoughts. I had such a fertile mine of thoughts about various subjects - religion, politics, philosophy, friendship, love. This is sort of a blog in book form. Some of them formed inside my head while doing the most random things - walking or household chores. I wrote them down because I thought I could use them one day. And I am putting them up here because I think someone else might want them or need them, the way I often did. It might be vain amd stupid to be inspired or encouraged by your own creation but some of these are not my words. More a compilation of the thoughts of the best authors who were my teachers and company in my younger days, reworded and adapted to my own circumstances.

Yesterday

Everyone gets those long stretches of time when everyday is the same. "Same shit, different day", as the saying goes. You try to do things differently, but sometimes you have no freedom to. I felt so stuck for a long time, no matter how much I gave it my all, and that feeling was what got me to write this poem.Looking back, things are really different now. I feel what they say is true - things have a way of falling into place at the right time.Excerpt:"Same old path I walked yesterday" "Same old clouds of a dull, pale gray" "With church bells ringing the same way" "I knew it would be the same today" "Today i sat on the same old chair" "It's leather still with the same old tear" "During my break, around I stare" "My yesterday is still everywhere"

Nothing Lasts Forever

"Tomorrow the sea might turn into sand""And this place where we live will be foreign land""Tomorrow the stars might fall from the sky""And this truth that we share might one day be lie""But I'll always look back and I'll never forget""These days that we shared I'll never regret""And if one day you're stranded in that foreign land""Know I've written your name in the palm of my hand"

True Happiness

This poem came to me one day while I was in the kitchen, thinking why true happiness is so elusive. It is what everyone is searching for and yet it is difficult to find it.

Keep Flying High

Even when the world stops, keep going on...I wrote this around two or three years ago, on a really sad day. There I was crying and telling myself to give up, to quit, when a thought suddenly entered my head."Keep flying high," it said. And then something clicked and I felt a poem coming over me. So I stopped studying for a bit, grabbed my phone, and typed the words. Then when I've read them, they kind of made sense. So I went back to studying which became easier. And I went on to graduate and pass the board exam with a score I was proud of. This poem often gave me strength and courage. I know I wrote it but it never fails to encourage me. On bad days, it is the one I go back to.I really hope I was able to express it well.

Headfirst

We probably all have love problems, it's a given. Love comes with pain. There is no pain without love and vice versa. Pain is a sign that you care. But love is also a pleasant, intoxicating, sensational experience. It's one of the reasons we fall into it anyway.I wrote this poem to capture that feeling. It took longer than expected, it is really difficult to write because I am going through heartbreak. Really bad heartbreak. But this poem was in my head for days. It was just too good to pass. In my head, the colors are all pink and red and cardinal and everything passion. I really enjoyed writing it and I hope I was able to express that feeling well. Will probably make some edits. But when my heart is broken badly like now, I wanna be able to read something like this.Note: Eyes of green is inspired by Harry Potter. He has green eyes.

We Are Stars

When we are young, the world is easier, kinder, happier. They tell us we are special and that we can do anything. If we mess up, they fixed it for us. If we do well, they celebrate us. We are treated special, even if we do nothing special. When we are young, the world is simple. As long as we work hard, we are rewarded. We study well and we get high grades. We finish with honors and everyone celebrates us, applauds us, admires us.Then we grow up and suddenly the world changes in a flash. Its been years after we graduated, and our diplomas are suddenly useless as we realize we are still jobless. And the parents who worked to support are suddenly disappointed or ashamed of us. Then finally, after more work and time than what we seemed to deserve, we finally land a decent job, and now we work forty-hour weeks slaving from paycheck to paycheck, as we put our siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews or kids to school, as we put our bodies through wear and tear to be the providers we are suddenly expected to be. We are berated if we do not share what we worked our ass off for. We are accused of being selfish and self-serving. We feel guilty for wanting more for ourselves when we have the right to. We feel guilty when we try to give ourselves what we should be having. Gone are the days when we were cute, smart kids who always did so well. Now we are selfish so called career people who will have no energy or time for family, no matter how much we give. Forget about putting down your own roots and living your own life. The new rule is you were born here, and so you now work for them. As for career, turns out intelligence or attitude is not really enough. Hard work does not even scratch the surface. To get promoted, you need powerful connections, to kiss ass, to violate every principle you've been ingrained with. Because that is the simple truth, shit floats. So after everything what will you be left with?

Nokorin Ya Ing Ginu?

A Kapampangan Poem"Nokorin Ya Ing Ginu" is Kapampangan for "Where is God?" This is the simple story of a young child, who, upon hearing her mother say "nokorin ya ing ginu?" (meaning "where is God"), quite literally searched for God on her own, hoping to help her mother. The idea came to me after a hard day at work. It is written in the Kapampangan dialect of Pampanga, Philippines. I happen to be a fan of the Kapampangan poet Jose Gallardo and he is my inspiration for writing Kapampangan poems although nobody does it anymore.I really hope I was able to express it well.Excerpt:"Anyang malati ku dimdam ke i ma ku"Ala ta namang kanan" ana kang tatang kuAt mekibat ya "E bali ing Ginu ing mibala kekatamu".At anang ma ku "Nokorin ya ing Ginu?"Agad kung megsadya at meko ku keng baleAt tsaka ku minta kareng tawu keng marangleAt kitang ku karela, "Ikit ye pu ba ing Ginu?""Pantunan ke pu uling pantunan neng Ma ku."

How Will I Love You

How Will I Love You?"Sweeter than the dew kissing flowers in the spring""Lightly, like the play of summer wind""Brighter than golden leaves in autumn light""Purer than the whitest snow on a winter night""Until the music leaves every song ever sung""And the notes disappear from any tune ever hummed""When age steals the youth and my hair turns white""And I run out of words and can no longer write"_________________________________________There are so many "How Do I Love You" or "How Will I Love You" songs and poems that it is pretty impossible to be original about one. As usual, I woke up with the poem in my head, but I was hesitant to write it, but it never left my head so I did write it in the end.I hope everyone enjoys it.Special thanks to shutterstock for the cover pic.

There's Something Strange About Samara
