Redemption - A Road Crew Story

Catherine Tyran was sent on the Terra Nova as an agent for the Martians. Her role was to command the reverse cyborg army called the Ultra-Marines to control and terrorize the colonists into submission. Injected with a bad copy of the Peacekeeper serum, she suffered from its crippling side-effects and gradually fell into a deep psychosis. In the course of her tenure as 'The Commander', as she was called. She was responsible for the inhumane treatment given to the prisoners during the Martian takeover of the colony on a new planet called Eden. When the Martians were overthrown and throughly defeated, she was captured by Jabrina Murakami, the heroine of the second colony war. Jabrina helped her get rid of the side effects of the serum by using the Bio-Nanites present in Eden's oceans. The Bio-nanites are part of the communal organism called 'Mother' by those who were contacted by her. Free of her psychosis, Catherine started to realize the scale of her crimes against the colonists. While in jail, she is riddled by feelings of guilt and remorse. Plagued by nightmares and loss of appetite, her health is declining. As recent history's most hated person, her life is in constant danger. The newly appointed secretary of defense devises a plan to take care of all those problems by getting rid of the main cause. Sentenced to three consecutive lifetime prison sentences with no chance of parole, the secretary offers Catherine a deal. Serve her time the old fashion way or be part of a long term cryogenic experiment led by Dr. Moses to see the long-term effects of cryosleep on humans. She would wake up sixty years later, biologically only five years older. Society would have forgotten her and she would have forgiven herself.
