I always knew if fezco and Amelia happened it would be true love.

An unconditional type of love both of them loved too hard to the right people and Amelia was right for him and he was right for her.

When they were kids no one would've ever thought the both of them would have something they were just in different worlds.

Fezco was already seeing the world as it was with his grandma while Amelia was kept from that.

All she ever worried about was making it on her play dates with maddy and kat or worrying about whatever teenage boy was famous at the time.

Fezco had already made up his mind from the beginning that one day he would confess his love to Amelia.

He would plan it everyday before he headed to her house but by the moment he arrived he would get too nervous.

At first he thought it was maddy, the one that made him nervous knowing the girl was mean and didn't like to be spoken to by boys like him.

But one day maddy wasn't there or kat.

It was just Amelia on the table doing her homework. Her mom was at work and her dad was outside speaking with his grandma.

He walked past her and she looked up to see him.

Amelia didn't really notice Fezco while she was around maddy and Kat. She was too busy trying to keep up to be like them but when they weren't she would and it made Fezcos heart skip a beat to see the girl even acknowledge him.

"Hi fez" young amelia waved at him, setting her pencil down.

"Hey Amy..." Fezco replied, dying of nerves that the girl was actually talking to him. It was probably the second time the girl actually looked in his direction.

Fezco thought it was the perfect opportunity to tell her he had a crush on her but he couldn't but he still managed to have a conversation with her which only made him fall even more.

After that dad he anticipated everyday to go to her house. He would get ready, wear his nice clothes, and make sure he put cologne on.

But Amelia eventually stopped even saying hi to him by the time she hit seventh grade she was too busy on her phone and being popular.

Fezco would see it all around school how she was noticed by everyone as well as maddy.

This only made him even more nervous to speak to her. This is when he actually felt like he didn't know the girl and if i'm being honest I was probably intimidated by her too as well as Lexi.

But fortunately for us over the summer before her ninth grade year she matured she started to notice she liked different things than maddy and all those years she wanted to keep up we're just a waste.

That version of herself was something she didn't want to be.

She began to hang out with me more and maddy hanged out with Cassie but if anything ever happened it was always maddy and Amelia at the end of the day and we all knew that.

So her freshman year she spent it with me and that's also the year I started to hang around Fezco but it was before I even started doing drugs.

I never knew Amelia and Fezco knew each other until one day the last week of her freshman year I told her to come with me to his store.

Once we walked in Fezcos eyes lit up watching the girl walk in.

He hadn't seen her in a while. He didn't come around her house anymore since his grandma was in a coma.

The whole interaction was weird but only for Fezco.

Amelia seemed confident enough maybe because she didn't like him at the time because she was stuck on her boyfriend David which I hated.

But for Fezco it was probably the best day of his life and he continued to beg me to bring her around all summer which I did until Valerie passed.

I was surprised to know Fezco didn't know what happened the day Amelia decided to hang out with me to get her mind off of things. It was three days after the incident.

Her eyes were still puffy. Instead of her contacts she was wearing glasses which Fezco remembered she wore when she was younger.

He noticed her mood was down but was too afraid to ask her what was wrong so he asked me.

I simply just told him she had a lot going which she did between her break up and Valerie dying. It was a lot but I didn't know how to console her.

No one did and I'm sure that if I told Fezco the truth he would've helped her and maybe she wouldn't have gotten back with her ex and it would've been him and her.

But then she had to leave with her parents because everything happened and Fezco had to forget about Amelia and his crush on her.

I'm happy they found each other after everything they made this amazing thing. Built such an amazing love that none of us would ever believe it had to come to an end ever.

Amelia sat there continuing to panic while the play continued.

She hadn't noticed they had changed scenes until Cassie began walking towards the stage while she clapped slowly.

"Lexi, you really outdid yourself." Cassie laughs. "I mean... where did she find these knock-offs."

"Who is that?" Alex leaned over to the two girls.

Amelia just nodded and looked over to maddy who was mad then looked up to see the scene that was unpacking.

Amelia didn't care, she cared about the fact that lexis play was getting ruined but she didn't care about the shit show cassie was putting on.

"Lexi, is this the part of the play where I steal Jake from Marta?" Cassie said.

"No, Cassie, that's not in the play." Lexi replied anxiously, not even daring to look at the audience.

"It is now!" Maddy shouted from her seat causing everyone to turn.

Alex looked over to maddy sending her a warning look but he knew maddy was not about to do what she was told.

"Wait, Hallie steals Marta's boyfriend?" Someone else in the audience said.

"I don't know how many times I have to say this. They were not fսcking together." Cassie stated.

"Yeah, not only that, but she was fսck¡ng him the entire time Marta was talking about getting back together with him." Maddy added and Amelia set her hand on hers telling her to stop.

"No... Why?"

"Because Hallie is a two-faced cսոt." Maddy cursed.

"Maddy stop" Alex looked over to Maddy but she ignored.

"I'm not a cսոt! You're the cunt!" Cassie cursed back to her.

"You're the fսcking cսոt, bitch!" Maddy shouted back.

Amelia just sighed and looked up to the stage to Lexi, sending her an apologetic look.

Eventually it got controlled Suze dragged cassie away to the side so the play could continue but the scene that was next wasn't Cassie's favorite...which caused her to panic out.

"No! I'm going to fucking kill you!" Cassie shouted and ran to her double dragging her out the horse.

Everyone laughed but everyone in Amelia's row didn't find it funny at all. Especially maddy.

"Oh this bitch needs to be put down" maddy got up her seat and took one shoe off while she continued to walk up to the stairs.

Amelia and Kat immediately rushed after her to stop her but Maddy had gotten a head start. Alex got up his seat as well, running after the girls knowing as soon as someone set their hands on maddy she would jump in as well.

"Maddy no!" Kat and Amelia shouted going after maddy who got a hold of Cassie and smacked her.

Then Cassie began to run behind stage while everyone followed behind into the school hallway taking hits on Cassie until Amelia finally reached out for her wanting to stop her.

Cassie thought it was a perfect opportunity to hit back which made Amelia let go of maddy but Alex took her into his arms carrying her away from the blonde.

Amelia took Cassie's hands trying to make her calm down.

"Cassie! Stop! Calm down! Stop!" Amelia tried to make the blonde stop.

Alex glanced back to see if Amelia was hitting the girl but she was not and eventually got maddy to calm down as well.

"Stop! It's fine coke you're fine" Amelia began to lead Cassie into the bathroom.

When Alex let maddy go thinking she was calmed down it only gave her time to rush away from him into the bathroom.

He tried to run after her but stopped as soon as the door shut in his face. He turned around to see Kat rushing down too.

"Can you make sure they don't kill Cassie in there please" Alex tolk the girl who nodded.

"Don't worry I'm on it" Kat entered the bathroom to see Amelia cleaning off Cassie's blood. "Oh great you guys aren't killing her"

"I was about to" maddy jumped onto the counter to sit down.

"Maddy please" Amelia turned to her with a warning look and the girl just rolled her eyes then checked herself for any blood.

Amelia turned back to Cassie to try and make sure nothing was broken.

"Do you know what's funny?" Cassie spoke, making all the girls pause and look at her. "Nate broke up with me before I even went on that stage."

Amelia frowned and turned to Maddy and Kat who also had frowns on their faces.

"Don't worry this is just the beginning" Maddy commented and Amelia turned back to the blonde with a sad look on her face.

Maddy was right, that's what Nate did to people. He would make them feel like they were the most important people in the world and then ruin them.

Amelia watched him do it to maddy, he tried to do it to her and he was now doing it to Cassie.

"Don't get back with him I know you might want to but don't it's not worth it at all" Amelia moved Cassie's hair away from her face to wipe off her tears.

"It's really not" maddy agreed watching Amelia take care of Cassie knowing that it was her once upon a time who Amelia was taking care of.

It's really sad actually watching Amelia take care of the people Nate kept ruining but she would never give up and I respect her for that.

"Can you two not tear each other apart while I go find ash and see if everything else is okay?" Amelia wiped her hands and threw paper towels in the trash.

"It's okay I'll stay here" Kat reassured and Amelia nodded smiling then walked out the bathroom.

Outside the door stood Alex leaning on the wall and when he saw the door open he got off of it immediately.

"You guys didn't kill her right?!" He exclaimed and Amelia just nodded.

"No they're fine let's go check on Lexi" Amelia began to walk down the hall.

Alex walked besides Amelia heading to the backstage door to meet with Lexi but was stopped by Andrew who was also walking down the hall but Amelia chose to ignore him but he tried to speak to her.

"Amy..." he said and Alex and Amelia stopped. "Can we talk?"

"No you can't," Alex answered , pushing her behind him.

"What do you want Andrew?" Amelia asked, trying to even look at Andrew since Alex was covering her.

"I just wanted to talk..." he replied and ponyed at Alex who looked like he wasn't going to move at all.

"Just say what you want to say in front of him he is not going to move" Amelia told him knowing there was no way Alex was about to leave he's alone with him.

"I'm sorry about everything I did. I never really meant to hurt you in any way. I just liked you way too much and I just overreacted...I'm so sorry Amy and I hope we can be cool" Andrew apologized.

As much as forgiving as Amelia was, she never wanted to be involved with Andrew ever again. She knew Andrew wasn't okay but she wasn't also going to let him ruin her like Nate did to maddy and Cassie.

She didn't want that she had gotten a look into what a healthy relationship was and she wasn't going to let go of what she had for him.

"I forgive you but we're not cool. I don't want to be your friend. Good bye Andrew" Amelia stayed and grabbed Alex's arm to drag him away from Andrew.

Alex still looked at Andrew thinking he was going to chase after them but he didn't. They just continued to walk away.

Amelia wanted to let go of people that weren't good around her and I have been watching her do that. Growing away from her life here and more into the life she was starting to build and I was proud of that.

When Amelia got backstage she saw Lexi sitting down on the stairs to go up on the stage from the back wiping off her tears.

Amelia rushed to her and sat right beside her while Alex just walked to them and stopped right in front of them.

"I'm sorry that happened..." Amelia wrapped her arms around the girl.

"I can't continue the play.. I'm telling everyone that that was a part of the play. It's the only thing I've ever done and it's a disaster." Lexi sniffled in Amelia's arms.

"It's not before all that happened it was amazing you're amazing and I'm sure the rest of the play is too" Amelia then pulled away so Lexi could look at her. "I think everyone else deserves to see the rest"

Lexi smiled then looked up to Alex who was smiling at her.

"You better go on out there because I did not come here to not watch the whole play" Alex told the girl causing her to chuckle.

"So smile and stand tall because what you were doing out there was amazing" Amelia stood up and put her hand out for her.

Lexi took it and got up the stairs and Amelia gave her a hug as soon as she stood up.

"We'll be watching okay as soon as I figure out where Fezco is" Amelia let her go and turned to Alex. "I'll wait outside"

Amelia walked out the room to let Alex and Lexi talk. While she stood there she took her phone out to text Fezco only to see he had already texted her.

She immediately got excited and opened her phone. She looked at the text and read it over and over not knowing the meaning.

Amelia paused; she didn't know why he would say that except if there was something bad going on.

She knew there was no reason for something back to happen; he was only supposed to talk to Custer and go to the play.

Fezco knew one of the things Amelia regretted the most was not saying I love you one more time to Valerie; she would bring it up any time.

She would say she would give up anything no matter the price to tell her she loved her one more time.

Even if Amelia was confused about the text she sent it back immediately without hesitation.

Amelia was frustrated that there was no answer. She tried to refresh her phone and even restart it but there was no text back.

I knew Amelia would've been satisfied with Valerie even seeing her text but in this situation with Fezco she wanted more.

Her heart formed into a not feeling it ruptured into a million pieces once the door opened which contained a very happy Alex.

When he was outside Amelia turned to him with tears forming in her eyes.

"What's actually going on?!" Amelia demanded to know, making Alex's smile drop.

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I'm talking about Alex! Why are you so calm?! What is Fezco actually doing!" Amelia continued to shout at him.

He walked closer to her looking down the hall to make sure no one was there and he tried to take Amelia into his hold.

"Amy calm down.."

"No! Tell me what's going on! Stop lying to me! What is Fezco doing?!" Amelia asked him once more.

Alex could hear the little cracks in her voice making his heart only break for her.

"What he had to do to save his family" Alex finally replied but it didn't answer anything.

"I swear Alex if you made him do this..."

"It was his decision" Alex interrupted her, making her scoff.

"And you didn't stop him?! You're just going to let him do it?! What type of friend are you?!" She continued to shout at him.

"He wanted to do it and I saw an opportunity to protect you guys and everyone" Alex stated making Amelia even more angry.

"Take me to him!" Amelia demanded and saw how he just nodded. "Alex, take me to him right now! If you don't tell me what's going on then take me to see him! What is he doing turning himself in?! Let me say goodbye at least..." Amelia paused as her voice broke on the last word.

Alex sighed and shook his head checking his phone. "Let's go"

Amelia immediately began to walk out the school running into maddy who was alarmed when she saw Amelia who was almost crying and rushing through the halls.

"Maddy make sure ash stays here okay?!" Amelia told her, still walking down the hall.

"What?! Why?!"

"We have to go but make sure he's with you okay?! Tell him we're helping Lexi" Amelia said one more time before she went through the doors with Alex behind her.

I think Amelia had always been afraid to let go of things.

She liked consistency. If there was a period in her life where she was happy and everything was going well she wanted it to be that way forever.

She would try to hold on to every piece of it and maybe she hadn't noticed before until the point she was holding on to a toxic relationship that was only doing her bad to have something, anything left of her friend.

When she passed I never thought Amelia would get past it.

Losing a friend breaks you. I don't think anyone ever thinks of that since we're too worried about losing family members.

Friends are consistent. You see them everyday at school even if you speak to them or not you know you'll see them in third period or you'll text them the latest gossip but what about when they're gone? And don't even get me started on the love of your life.

Or your first love.

Fezco was Amelia's first love I'm sure of it and probably her last.

However you'd like to take that last line it is up to you.

All we knew is Amelia didn't know how to let go because if there's something about this world we know is it is not consistent at all and no one is reliable even if it was hard to accept.

I think why Amelia hated losing Valerie so much was because she didn't want to go through the pain.

When you lose someone you don't just lose them once.

You lose them over and over, sometimes many times a day.

When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up, and attacks you from behind.

Fresh waves of grief as the realisation hits home, they are gone.

Again.

Losing someone is a journey, not a one-off.

There is no end to the loss, there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat, when it washes over.

Amelia rushed out of Alex's car to see a bunch of police cars outside of Fezcos house. She tried to ramble her way through them while Alex followed behind her.

When she reached up the point where she could see the front entrance she saw her dad standing there.

She looked over to him with tears in her eyes.

He knew what was going down and he knew Amelia was not going to like it.

They had a plan and he didn't know how the plan would work out which is why he didn't tell her.

Even standing there Amelia had no idea what was going down; she just stood there frozen.

Her dad knew there must be a thousand things going through her head and he knew he had to tell her the truth, which he was.

He was walking down to her with the sirens blasting in the back. Amelia stood there watching her dad walking towards her.

She wanted to know what was going on but yet she just wished he just froze and never made it to her so that everything that was going on could be reversed.

She wanted to go back in time to do something.

Something that would prevent the moment she was in right now.

Somehow Amelia's dad never made it to her. All she heard was a gunshot making her scream in pain.

Her first instinct was to rush over but Alex took her in his arms with all the strength he had.

Amelia kept trying to fight her way off him while she sobbed but he didn't let her. He held onto her with all the strength he had but he could barely hold it together as well.

Eventually Amelia stopped.

She stopped fighting.

She accepted it.

She learned to let go.

Even if it hurt like hell, it was one of the best things in the world to feel free.

Yes some days are harder than the others but eventually it's all clear and it's good to break free.

Amelia's first step was to let go and experience her curiosity of something bad yet exciting happening to her.

She never gave up on love or her partner, that's how she loved. The intense and powerful feeling of love is what she seeks for.

A love that consumed her.

Love like the color dark red.
