BBC Sports: Dakota McManus to drive for AlphaTauri during Melbourne FP1 session

F1: BREAKING: McManus confirms AlphaTauri/Red Bull departure in 2023, destination uncertain !

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - During the press conference leading up to the Australian Grand Prix, AlphaTauri crew chief Dakota McManus confirmed her much-speculated departure from the Red Bull Racing umbrella, and that she would be searching for positions on the other eight teams in the championship.

McManus recently returned to the paddock following a hiatus that she took following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to return to Australia and "take time for her mental health". McManus stated in the press conference that "spending time at home allowed [her] to put [he]r life and career in perspective, and to come to the realization that [she] needed to leave Red Bull Racing".

"There are irreconcilableΒ  differences right now between me and senior Red Bull management." McManus begins her explanation. "We are not on the same page, which is creating friction and preventing me from completing my own job within the junior team. At this point in my life, I have to think with my career being the most important thing, and certain people within Red Bull have made it quite clear that I am not wanted, and that my career can go no further with them, hence why I will not be attempting to renew my contract with the AlphaTauri F1 team of 2023."

At this statement, McLaren's Andreas Siedl snickers. McLaren offered McManus a position within the organization in Bahrain at the beginning of the season, leaving the window open for McManus to transfer at any time.

The pit crew chief went on to explain that while she had already received offers from both McLaren and Haas, she has meetings in place with other teams, as well as a potential offer from the Prema Powerteam in Formula Two, should a deal within F1 not pan out for the 2023 season.

"Of course, we're sad to see Dakota go," remarks AlphaTauri advisor Dr. Helmut Marko. "she has potential, and we would have liked to have been by her side as she developed it. We understand that the methods we use at Red Bull are not for everybody, and Dakota is an example of someone who cannot handle the pressure of working under one of the best teams in the series."

I cant believe what im reading. Marko has some nerve talking about Dakota like that when all that he has been doing lately is speaking about why she never should have been appointed in the first place.

F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport. you have to accept the capacity of the team that you work with, and i think it's cowardly of mcmanus to run away instead of trying to figure out why the alphatauri cars aren't operating the way that they should
