"Oh, shit! That's the girl who tried to commit suicide at McKay's party!" BB pointed as Jules and Rue walked past them.

"Her name is Jules." Leilani rolled her eyes, shoving her phone into her back pocket. "She's pretty chill, actually."

"Wait, what?" Cassie and Maddy asked.

"It was some crazy ass shit." Leilani shook her head, "Crazy ass shit."

"Oh, yeah, I forgot! You guys both was fuckin'." She laughed, pointing at the two of them.

Maddy groaned loudly, "Ugh! Why does everybody think we fucked?"

"Uh.. 'cause you did. It's.. like, on video and shit, too." Leilani rose a brow. "There's no gettin' around it."

"Ugh.. alcohol is not good for me."

"So you did fuck him?" BB gasped, "I knew it!"

"She did." Leilani nodded, readjusting her backpack.

"Honestly, I think I blacked out.." Maddy admitted.

"Wait, no shit! For real?" Leilani gasped, "You're totally fucking with us."

"I'm not! I swear." Maddy raised her hands, "I drank way too much!"

"I told you to stop after drink five, but you never listen to a single damn thing I say."

"That's cause your advice sucks."

"Shut the fuck up! I don't pay one grand for therapy for nothing!"

"You go to therapy?"

Leilani's smile fell as she looked down, "No."

"Hello!" Kat said, sliding into the group and standing next to Leilani.

"It's our new sexpert!"

"Congratulations!" Maddy squealed, throwing her wrms around Kat.

"Was it everything you'd expected it to be?" Leilani teased, grateful for the change of attention.

"Yeah, actually." Kat nodded, smiling and pushing up her glasses.

"Really? Wow, I really need to get better dick.."

You don't mean that. She told herself.

Yes, I do!

No, you don't. You know the truth.

Leilani continued to argue with herself internally, hoping no one would be able to see the conflict on her face.

"Yo, you good?" BB asked, touching her arm gently.

Leilani jumped, trying to play it off with a laugh, "Y-Yeah, Yeah, I'm good. I'm great, actually! Why?"

"Uh, you just looked like you were havin' war flashbacks or some shit."

"Well.. I'm fine, so, drop it."

"Okay, then.."

As Leilani walked into the gym with Rue, she caught site of Lexi Howard.

Memories of the previous summer flooded her memory and she quickly looked away, shaking her head of any of those thoughts.

That summer didn't mean anything to you. It was just a waste of your time.

Leilani tried to convince herself. But she knew it wasn't true, and that that summer truly meant everything to her.

How she longed for those summer days to return.

The long nights spent under the stars at the beach, swimming in the ocean, the days spent shopping, dancing together in her room.

How she wished for a simpler time.

But reality had other ideas in mind for Leilani.

Her continuous hatred for her sexuality, that she refused to acknowledge in the first place, grew.

So, she stopped talking to her.

Completely.

She started talking to more guys, sleeping with more guys.

A small piece of her died each time she slept with a different boy.

But she convinced herself, and everyone else around her, that she liked it.

But one person saw straight through her.

Lexi Howard knew everything was an act. She knew that Leilani wasn't straight, she might be bi, but she definitely wasn't straight.

And she was determined to find out why Leilani just stopped talking to her completely.

But everytime Leilani would catch a glimpse of Lexi, she was gone before the older girl could get a single word in.

As Leilani sat herself next to Rue, the teacher began speaking. "I'd to start with a little improvisation. I'd like each of you to get up and tell me a five minute story about your summer."

"Shit." Leilani cursed under her breath, sinking into herself. It's not like she could walk up there and announce she spent the summer with Lexi!

Then people would think she was a lesbian!

And she is not a lesbian! She's straight!

"Looks like we have our first volunteer! Rue."

Leilani rolled her eyes at the teacher. Didn't she have any sense of decency?

"Please, don't do this to me."

"Come on, everyone! Let's give her a little round of applause for encouragement!"

Rue slowly sttood up and walked onto the stage. Seeing awkward and nervous she looked, Leilani began to dread her turn even more.

"A-A memory?"

"Anything that had an impact on you this summer."

"I-I don't.. know. I.. can't think."

"Just.. relax your body." The teacher continued on, annoying Leilani. "Release the tension and just breathe."

"So t-this summer?"

"Yes."

"I-I'm having trouble like.. remembering something.. you know?"

"Just tell us a specific memory."

Leilani wanted to smack the teacher for putting Rue in this situation. She knew for a fact that that bitch knew what happened to Rue.

"Uh.. okay.. I was with my mom and my-my little sister and we were uh.. listening to this song.. and-and dancing.. and stuff."

"Thank you." Rue nodded, quickly leaving the stage.

"Honestly, I bet it's brain damage."

"Why don't you shut the fuck up!"

"Yeah, you're being fucking rude."

Leilani gasped, as Rue wiped her eyes and rushed out of the gym. She wanted to go after her, but Lexi beat her to it.

Deciding that she was not yet ready to see her, she stayed in her place on the gym floor

The teacher looked down at her paper and looked around the room before speaking.

Leilani crossed her fingers.

Not me. Not me. Not me. Please, not me. Ple-

"Leilani."

Fuck! Shit, shit, shit!

Leilani's legs felt like jelly as she stood up and shakily made her way onto the stage.

"Uh.. Hi, you all probably know me already." Leilani joked, earning a few stray laughs from the audience.

"What's your memory from the summer, Leilani?"

"Hopefully it's better than that bitch's was."

"Hey! Why don't you shut the fuck up!" Leilani threatened, "You better watch yourself."

"Miss Davis! Please refrain from that type of language!"

Leilani rolled her eyes, "Whatever."

Her mind raced with memories of the summer, memories of her that she so desperately wanted to forget.

"Uh, so.. My summer memory.."

Memories continued to flood her, causing tears to well up in her eyes as she thought of her.

"I-I, uh.. well, the-there was this one time.. with.. uh, with my friend.. we spent, like, the weekend at the beach. It was.. really, uh, fun.."

She decided not to mention who.. or what they were doing.. because she didn't want to think of her mistakes too much.

She already knew this would hurt her far more than she'd let it show.
