nine.

"this is fucking stupid," seraphina sighed, gesturing to the film ashtray had put on his tv. he snickered and puffed at his blunt, passing it back and forth between the two.

she had arrived at his place a little over half an hour ago, after he had begged her to come over because he was bored.

the film they were watching was basically boring her to tears, so she spent the time reading a random magazine of faye's that was lying around.

"i like this film."

"yeah, but they're so repetitive."

"you're repetitive," he shrugged, making her gasp in a mock tone. she was about to hit him over the head but harsh bangs on the door broke her from what she was doing.

"what the fuck now, bro?" ash groaned, sliding out of the seat to go and check the security. but before he could do so, fez had answered and rue entered the room.

she made eye contact but ignored the girl all together, instead deciding that the film was now entertaining.

"what's up with you two?" ashtray asked, already observing the fact seraphina didn't even say hello. seraphina sighed and shut the magazine, turning around to face him.

"it's complicated."

as ashtray sat down besides seraphina, his hand brushed over hers as he muttered, "rue is a whole lot of complicated, phina."

"yeah," seraphina whispered, eyes trailing to ashtray's hand which was clasped over hers in a comforting gesture.

all of a sudden, loud shouting could be heard from the hallway and they both turned around, shocked to see rue being dragged out by fez.

"seraphina, please! i-i just need some fucking drugs, okay?!"

all seraphina wanted to do was reach out and promise rue everything would be okay. "i will hate you forever, phina! do you think i'm fucking joking?!"

ashtray went to grab the gun from the side of the sofa, but seraphina reached out and stopped him, head shaking as she pleaded for him not to.

"when you ruin all your fucking relationships rue, don't come crawling back to me for help, because we're fucking done!"

and with that, fez slammed the door shut and groaned, head hitting the door as he heard rue's shouts from outside.

"yo, you good, guys?" fez asked, and the pair nodded, although ashtray knew that seraphina was lying. that she wasn't good at all. and it was all rue's fault.

"i'm really worried about her," seraphina sighed, hands trailing over the bottom of her jacket as ashtray scrolled through his phone.

"she'll be good, it's rue. that girl would survive anything," he answered, eyes moving from his phone to seraphina.

"I know, i just have a bad feeling, you know?"

at every single siren seraphina had heard going past, she felt her heartbeat quicken as she thought that maybe rue was in the back seat.

or maybe in the bottom of a ditch, foaming at the mouth.

ashtray's blanket was wrapped around her body, trapping the cold air from reaching her. "hey, you want some food?"

"no, i'm not hungry."

"bro, you gotta eat."

deeply sighing, she sat up and rolled her eyes, reaching for her shoes. "i can survive without one meal, ash."

"fine, whatever you say."

he tried to act like it didn't bother him. but it did. a lot.

it was raining hard outside and considering she didn't bring her car to ash's, she'd have to bike home. she didn't really want to be in a car with ash right now, because he seemed pissy.

"it's raining, ma. come on, i'll give you a-"

"i don't want a lift. i'm fine, okay?"

"don't be stupid, it's pouring it down."

pushing past ashtray who had now stood up, seraphina jogged down the hallway and to the door, sighing at the sight of rue's blood on the concrete outside.

"where the fuck you going, seraphina?!"

"home!"

slamming the door, she ran down the steps and picked her bike up, ignoring ashtray who had now ran outside, moaning about the rain.

"get in the fucking car!"

scoffing, she raised her head to meet his eyes and chuckled, muttering the word, "no."

his tongue travelled to his cheek, sticking a bit out as he angrily observed the girl. "i'm not gonna ask you again."

"you're not my fucking dad, ash, okay?!"

it was like time stood still as he leaned forward, hands gripping her cheeks as his lips melted softly against her own.

if it wasn't for the rain, ashtray would have carried on all day. but seraphina pulled back, eyes widening as she stared at the boy.

"i'm sorry," he groaned, as she did nothing but stare at him with shock. when she finally did realise what had happened, she stumbled back and jumped on her bike, ignoring ashtray's shouts as she peddled away.

what the fuck was that?
