night sixteen ;

august 25

9:54 a.m.

"i'm really sorry about last night, iβ€”"

he pressed a kiss to her forehead, "stop apologising, it's not your fault."

"... god, please help me." she mumbled.

the two of them woke up not too long ago, after taking a shower and having breakfast, they were now in the living room watching some random show on the television.

she was laying down on the couch with her head on his lap while they talk about everything.

"anyway, what did your parents say?" she asked, changing the subject.

"oh! my parents said they can't make it tonight, so tomorrow night!" he smiled excitedly.

footsteps sounded from the staircase as someone walked down to the living room.

the girl pushed herself up into a sitting position.

a familiar black hair girl came into the living room, staring at the couple on the couch.

"good morning," she nodded at the older girl, ignoring the boy beside her.

without another word, she left through the front door.

"does she not like you?" she asked.

"it wasn't always like that, we were actually really close," he sighed.

"but when she found out about my disease she started ignoring me."

his sister stared up at him with an unreadable expression.

"listen, from today onwards, you're no longer my brother. don't talk to me, and don't even show your face in front of me. i don't want you in my life anymore." she firmly stated.

"may i at least get a reason?" he asked.

"you're going to die. i don't want to cry over your death. i'm doing this for my own good. i want to protect myself from you and your dumb disease. i want to forget everything about you. so do me one last favour, and stay out of my life, please."

"i understand where she's coming from, she doesn't want to get so attached to me, it's going to hurt when i pass on," the boy explained.

"that's why i was afraid to tell you about it," he sighed. "i was being selfish, i felt so lonely, and when i saw you that night, i couldn't help but talk to you. who would've thought we'd keep bumping into each other again?"

"i didn't tell you for so long because i didn't want you to leave me like everyone else did." he added.

"i'm sorry."

"stop apologising, it's not your fault." the girl shook her head.

"i could've ignored you and stayed away from you, but i didn't. sure i'm gonna be really upset when you leave, but..." her voice trailed off.

but nothing.

she couldn't think of anything.

it would be the end if he left.

a pair of arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a warm embrace.

"like i said. i'm sorry, for being so selfish."

"... no... it's fine..."

"are you sure? aren't they going to be mad?" he asked in a worried tone.

"they're already mad. there's no point now."

he let out a sigh. "okay then..."

"good night." he gave her a quick kiss on the lips.

"yeah," she layed down next to him as he wrapped an arm around her waist.

she knew she said she didn't want to run away from her problems anymore.

but right now, fixing her relationship with her parents were not as important as being with him.

she would do that later.

for now, she just wanted to enjoy whatever time they had left.
