night seventeen ;

august 26
9:33 a.m.

she forced her eyes open, rubbing them. pushing herself up, she looked around the room.

she brought her gaze down to the boy next to her, he was still asleep.

which was strange, because he was usually the first to wake up.

maybe the lack of sleep finally got to him.

"hey, wake up," she tapped him on the shoulder.

"hey," she spoke a little louder.

a thought came into her mind and she felt her heart drop.

hesitantly, she picked his hand up, placing two trembling fingers on his wrist.

much to her dismay, her assumption was right.

he was gone.

6:01 p.m.

the girl had called the boy's parents and informed them about what happened.

after making the call, the girl couldn't bare staying in the same room as the boy's unconscious body any longer. she left.

it was drizzling as she sat under the shelter of the bus stop. staring down at her feet as tears streamed down her face.

her chest was aching with an unfamiliar pain, she had never lost anyone in her life before. this was the first time. it hurt. it really did.

her phone started ringing, causing her to snap out of her depressing thoughts.

she started at the screen.

[ incoming call from "rain boy". ]
accept/decline

"h-hello..?"

"hello, this is his sister."

"..."

"come to the hospital, we're
putting his body in the coffin
in a few hours."

[ call ended. ]

rain boy

here's the room number.

building two, room 127, level 4.

8:23 p.m.

she hated this. so much.

entering the lift, she pressed the button to the fourth floor.

her chest still hurt. her eyes were red and puffy from the hours of crying. her clothes slightly drenched due to the rain.

none of that mattered.

she stepped out of the lift, making her way to the room with the number 127 on it.

and when she arrived, she couldn't bring herself to open the door.

she stood in front of it like an idiot for the next few minutes. until a voice interrupted her thoughts from behind.

"are you not going in?"

she turned around to face his younger sister.

"seriously," she muttered. "rain girl, what's up with that? can't he just put your name?" she scoffed.

the girl didn't bother answering her question, instead the pain in her chest only worsened.

without another word, she pulled the door to the room open and entered it, closing the door behind her.

the room was cold and quiet. too quiet.

it's never been this quiet whenever she was in a room with him. because he was always talking. whether it was relevant or not, he had so many things to say.

she missed him.

his voice, his smile, his words, his actions, his compliments, his hugs, his kisses, the warmth he gave her, she missed everything about him.

as she stared down at his unconscious body on the bed, she felt a familiar burn in her throat.

her vision began to blur as tears streamed down her face again.

this time, he wasn't here to comfort her like he always did.

her back hit the wall and she slowly sat down on the cold tiled floor.

she couldn't do this anymore. it was just too painful. and she wasn't strong like he was.

she wondered what his last words would've been if he had the chance to say them.

"i didn't get your name."
