hello?
sent 7:21 p.m.

rain boy, you there?
7:26 p.m.

did you fall asleep
sent 7:28 p.m.

okay then, good night
sent 7:31 p.m.

she switched her phone off, opening her room door, she went downstairs to the kitchen to take her medicine.

she poured herself a cup of water and popped a tablet in her mouth, making sure to finish the drink.

a knock sounded from her front door.

were her parents home already?

that's strange. they have their own keys though.

she made her way to the front door, unlocking it. she pulled it open.

"rain boy, huh? that's cute."

"w-what are you doing here??" she asked in surprised, staring at the sick boy in front of her.

he was wearing a simple oversized shirt with grey sweatpants, while she had a tank top with sweats as well.

"can i come in?"

"uhm, okay..?" she stepped aside, allowing him to enter.

still confused as to why he was even here in the first place. shouldn't he be resting at home?

she locked the door, making her way back to the living room.

"why are you here?" she asked.

"well, it was getting kind of lonely back at home, so i decided to come over, since we're both sick, we can hang out," he smiled.

"i don't think that's how it works..."

"no?"

"no, definitely not."

"oh."

but instead of asking him to leave, she decided to let him stay. she'd feel bad kicking him out after he came all the way here.

"do you need to take any medicine? i have some in the kitchen," the girl offered.

"no it's okay, i have my own medication."

"oh okay then, are you hungry?"

"yeah, i haven't had anything to eat since breakfast."

"woah, that's not good, i'll go cook us something right now, what do you want?" she made her way to the kitchen, the boy trailing behind her.

"since we're sick, i think chicken soup will be good."

"ah right, i'll go prepare the ingredients."

"can i help you?" the boy asked.

"sure."

once they got the ingredients ready, they started cooking.

she added the chicken pieces in a large pot, covering them up with broth and water. she placed it over the stove and turned the fire on.

while they waited for it to boil, they proceeded to cut the carrots, celery and onions.

"can i do the cutting?" he asked, already holding a knife and a carrot.

"sure, just be careful," she reminded.

8:38 p.m.

"seriously, your cooking is the best," the boy complimented as he drank the hot soup.

"you helped out too."

"all i did was cut the ingredients though," he shrugged, "do you cook very often?"

"yeah, my parents are rarely home, so i cook for myself."

"you should come over to my house sometime," the boy said. "my parents would love you."

his sentence caught her off guard. "you really need to stop saying things like that out of the blue."

"why not?"

she let out a sigh.

they spent the rest of the night in the living room on the couch, binge watching random shows.

at one point, the girl had fallen asleep.

he couldn't help but smile at her, she was truly beautiful.

putting an arm below her back and the other under the back of her knees, he carried her back up to her room.

gently placing her down on her bed, he pulled the blanket over her body and switched off the light.

he closed the door and made his way back down to living room, silently leaving before her parents came back.

he had fun today, even though they barely did anything. being by her side had made him feel much better. actually, just the thought of her could lift his mood.

the boy let out a soft hum as he walked down the street.

what a strange friendship they have.

he couldn't help but wonder how she felt about him.
