TOMMY ENTERS THE CHAT‼️‼️‼️

Y/n's Point Of View:

Snatches of whispers surrounded me as I floated in the darkness.

"And she'll be fine?" The woman's voice. The omniscient entity that had been ever present in my nightmares.

"Of course."

"I suppose you're right, it's better this way."

"He'll watch over her."

"A2? Hmm yes I suppose he'll do."

"Y/n?!" A voice cried out, a boy's but it didn't have the scratchiness of Gally's. He was scared, this boy, but I had no way to help him. I was stuck. "Y/n?! C'mon answer!" He sobbed.

Panic. It swirled and bubbles and broiled over until I couldn't take it anymore.

"I'm trying, you Fuck Twat!" I spat out. The words rang out into the dark abyss...bringing me to consciousness.

(Greenie Day)

6:00 am

That's what the clock read on Gally's keeper watch. I was already an hour behind schedule! I dropped the boy's wrist and climbed over his sleeping body. Raggedly, I found a shirt and tossed it over my head, shimmying my way into some pants. I could change into my real outfit later. Everything had to be perfect for the greenie. Everything.

Not minding my shoes being unlaced, I tripped out the door, clambering down the ladder. Sprinting, I ran across the glade all the way to the kitchens. This, was going to take a while.

I had officially done it. It had taken me hours but here it was, a beautiful array of comforting desserts. Strawberry shortcake, a dozen chocolate chip cookies, donuts, and cupcakes. Gally joined me before I was whirlwinded into more haste.

Gally's Point Of View:

"Jeez y/n, what's all this for?" I said grabbing a warm cookie. Her brows were arched, lips pressed together as she tapped her fingers against the counter in a repetitive drumming pattern. Right as I was about to take a bite of the melty treat y/n smacked my arm, ripping the cookie out of my hand.

"These are not for you. Got it?" She snapped. The tension, evident in her face and stiff body parts was crumbling her down, bit by bit.

"Okay fine." I surrendered, raising my hands in the air. "I won't touch them, but who the hell are they for?" Y/n rolled her head towards me, looking at me like I'd just said the stupidest thing in the world.

"The greenie Gally. That's who. Because today's greenie day!"

"What if the Greenie doesn't want any of this sugary klunk? Like what if it's nervous and can't eat-"

"Oh my God you're right!" They clapped their hand over their mouth, eyes widening. "How could I be so stupid?!" Y/n ran their hands through their hair, leaning their elbows on the sink. Oh klunk. I'd upset them. "They could have a fucking gluten allergy or be on one of those fucking middle aged women paleo diets!"Β  Y/n started pacing manically back and forth. "I need to start over from scratch or make a fruit salad or-"

"Hey!" My sharpness caught them off guard. "You need to relax. It's just a stupid Greenie okay, they're not worth you being stressed." I seized her shoulders, holding her in place. "Chill the shuck out." Her face fell, body going limp at my touch. A thought popped in my head as I looked at her like that. An interesting thought. One that made me get that weird feeling. I rubbed her muscles, trying to calm her down...among other things. "Now how about we go to the treehouse and have some fun before the greenie gets here." Y/n rolled her eyes, shrugging me away.

"It's already eleven Gally. I need to get ready." Ready? They pushed past me, headed right for the treehouse. I followed...of course.

"What do you need to get ready for? You already got clothes on."

"I look tired."

"Maybe it's because you are. You don't need to impress the greenie y/n." I grumbled. We got inside and she went straight to stripping, I watched, lying comfortably on the bed. She put on a dress, the only one she owned. "A dress? Really?"

"I want to make a good first impression." They twirled around, showing their outfit off.

"It's a greenie, not a job interview."

"Mhm yeah, whatever Gally." They mumbled. Next came the makeup. Great. Y/n sat themselves on the floor starting off with the blush, floofing it on their cheeks. Something was planted in me then, small, but still visible as it continued to grow. Slowly.

"How come you never get this dressed up for me?" I meant it to tease them but it came out roughly. Y/n ignored me, countering with their own question.

"Should I do eyeliner?" I should give up. They were obviously preoccupied.

"Sure."

It was silent then as I watched them continue their whole process. The minutes ticking down for the greenie's arrival.

"You're really excited for this, huh?" I asked, crossing my arms together.

"I'm excited to see their face, who they are, their name. Maybe I can even help get them out of the box." No.

"No way."

"What?" Y/n dropped the eyeliner, now giving me their full attention.

"There's no way I'm letting you go in the box."

"Why not?" Her voice rose in volume.

"Because it's not safe, greenie's are unpredictable when they're in the box. Some will cry, some will come out swinging at you. I even heard of one who grabbed a knife and cut a kid." Y/n faked a gasp, playing along with my banter and jabbing back.

"Oh how awful. I heard the kid ran into the deadheads and cried for an hour."

"It was actually only for about ten minutes so..." Laughter landed upon us, bruising the conversation. Y/n stumbled over to the bed and hugged my neck, pressing a soft kiss on my cheek. She shifted so she could sit herself sideways on my lap.

Which felt pretty nice. Very nice. Incredibly nice.

"Are you gonna fight tonight?" Their lips just so happened to fall beside my neck, each breath and word they uttered making my spine wig out. Making it shiver.

"I always do." I slipped a hand under her dress, finding her thigh, searching for their mouth. Y/n squirmed and pushed my hand away.

"Maybe later okay, it's almost time. I need to go."

"All you're going to be doing is waiting so why don't you do it in here?"

"It's almost time, you're welcome to wait with with me if you like." They tugged on my shirt. I wanted to spend time with y/n but I knew they would just be obsessing over this new shank. The pit in my stomach edged out, growing.

"No thanks, I got better things to do the wait for the new slinthead but if you need me you know where to find me." I patted them on their back, nudging them off of me. Y/n's face fell, looking almost...glum.

They hopped off and headed for the door, looking wistfully at me one last time. Who knows maybe a little time apart is what they needed to miss me, to want to spend time with me.

Y/n's Point Of View:

"How much longer do you think?" I asked Newt, tapping my fingers madly. "You said twelve and we haven't even hear the alarm yet."

"Well usually it's twelve." He shrugged, waiting patiently next to me as I sat in my chair. I on the other hand was not patient. At all.

I had waited for two hours, chair set up directly beside the box. Listening for the slightest creak or anything. Several of my friends had attempted to coax me away but I denied all invitations, instead staring at this stupid box.

"Usually? It should always be twelve, what's different now?"

"Well..." Newt scratched his chin. "You were the first girl, maybe the creators are switching other things around." A sense of unfairness filled me, making me curl my fists.

"Well they're not supposed to! It's not fair, why can't I get a greenie?!"

"Life isn't fair y/n, why else do you think we'd be in this bloody maze?" His calmness was really starting to irritate me.

"Whatever." I grumbled, holding my head up in my hands. Pouting was immature I know, but it all just didn't make sense.

First the creators send me up in this stupid maze filled with stupid boys, most of them just want to fuck me. I almost get murdered like a bajillion times and then, and then, I can't even get a greenie when everyone else has had one. I couldn't be the last one.

Could I?

Continuing to sulk, Newt still next to me, I was about to give up. Go find Gally for solace and gripe to him about how fucking unfair the stupid bitch of a box was. Then I heard it.

BRING

The alarm. It practically split my ears in half from the sheer loudness. The blaring noise meant the greenie was supposed to be up in a half hour...but that was not the case this time. Boys ran towards the box as it shot up, every level closer and closer to the surface. To me.

A few guys tried pushing me out of the way but when they did I'd push back, adding a swift kick to their legs. I was going to stay here, right where I was and no one was going to move me. Not if I could help it. Then the box came to an abrupt stop, so close I could reach down and touch it. Anticipation slowly killing me, I wonder if it'll be a girl?! A boy would be alright too but a girl...

The doors of the elevator shaft swung open with that familiar,

Shwing

Parting itself open to show the rusty gate...and a boy beneath them. He was currently holding a hand up, a gesture to block the burning sunlight. He was an alright looking guy, peering through I could see he had brown hair, all stuck against his forehead.

Warmness electrified every nerve, my face held at a practically unnatural smile. I was going to help him. I was going to be his friend. Take care of him. This was my greenie. Just like how I was Chuck's.

Gally stepped in front of me, sticking an arm out to keep me behind him. Almost as if the box contained radioactive explosives than a boy. The other gladers chuckled snidely at the kid, pointing and whispering. Bitches.

With enough help we got the grated metal doors lifted, now giving us full access to the kid. Who by the way shrank back, worry and fear stitched across his face. Poor guy. I'd been there too, made me want to go down there and just tell him everything was going to be alright.

"Alright Gally get em." A kid breathily snickered. Gally was set to do just as he was told until I caught his arm. He turned quickly, seeing if I was alright.

"Just be careful Gally okay. Be nice." His eyes narrowed, shooting the greenie a glance.

"Yeah y/n I'll be sure to give the kid a sundae and afterwards we can skip and hold hands." He shook his head and turned back to the boy, jumping down into the box. Little did I know Gally was not going to be careful or nice or pleasant or decent. He was going to be quite the opposite really. Not to fret.

This was just the beginning of the end.
