VIII. 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄

The train was completely empty when the two boarded. Juliet did this on purpose, to hide the fact that she'd been leaving for a family matter. The sick state her mother was in was far from something she wanted anyone to know, purposely making a train ride for herself and Ron before sunrise. Ron kept quiet, mainly because he was still half asleep across from her.

His eyes fluttered slightly, trying to stay awake for her but was failing. Juliet on the other hand was wide awake, mainly because she hadn't slept any the night before. She felt guilty for leaving her mom and cousin at home, she felt guilty for involving Ron, but most of all she felt guilty for not trying harder to help her mother. She felt sadness at the fact that they didn't have enough money to get the poor woman the best of doctors, she felt sad her poor cousin had to deal with this alone along with taking a train back and forth from Oxford to London every day, she felt complete sadness that when she'd show up as home her mother wouldn't recognize her.

"Jules." Ron spoke, his morning voice still very much there as the Weasley boy rubbed his eyes, sitting up better to look at her, "How long is the train ride?"

"Almost two hours, you can sleep until then if you'd like, Ron, I won't leave you." she tried to make a humorous comment but couldn't bring herself to laugh, not even crack a small smile at the most.

"I'm not even tired." Ron lied through a yawn, his words caused a half smile to appear on her face for less then a second before it fell again. Juliets eyes moved out toward the window again, looking at the sky that was just now starting to barley rise.

"Do you like sunrises, Ron?" Juliet asked him, her head falling on the window in tiredness as well.

"Never been awake enough for them." Ron said to her as he'd looked out the window, "And you say their lovely but not worth being awake this early for."

"When did I tell you that?" Juliet asked him, not being able to remember the conversation that went on between the two. Ron flushed when he realized that dream Juliet had told him, not reality Juliet.

"Er, it's been a bit." Ron made the excuse as Juliet nodded her head, turning her head away when they rode past trees that began to prevent from seeing out much. The sun that peaked through the green made her look golden, her eyes glistening from their usual brown color to pools of honey. Ron knew she was sad, but he still found her beyond beautiful.

"I feel like I have to warn you." Juliet said suddenly, her flushed face meeting his eyes with a worried expression, "My home, it's not very big. I mean, it's quite homey but it's rather small. We live on the more dangerous side of London, it's not as nice as you'll think it is. It's not that we don't take care of it, we do, very well actually, we just don't have much money because not enough people come down our street so they don't see the book store and naturally we don't charge much anyways which isn't your fault but I just-"

"I don't mind." Ron cut her rambles off, seeing as though she was trying to make excuses for her own family's lack of money, "I don't come from a money hungry family either, Juliet."

"Still.... sometimes I just want people to know to avoid their judgement faces when I take them home." Juliet said as she crossed her legs and took a deep breath, thankful to have that off her chest.

"I get that, loads actually." Ron nodded along to her words. He found his heart skipping each time he found something out about Juliet he didn't know from his dreams, it was like a small bit of his was finding more ways to falls for her worse then he already was.

"Do you?" Juliet asked him hopefully, her darker eyes scanning his as Ron nodded his head to her words, "Not many people do."

"Well Hogwarts is filled with gints like Malfoy who are drowning in their own money." Ron said, the annoyed and snarky look across his face making Juliet laugh.

"I keep wondering if he liked me a bit when I held him." Juliet said, laughing at her own words, "When Moody turned him into a ferret, remember?"

"How found I forget? My favorite things that's happened all year." Ron spoke, his words were a burning lie. Draco being a ferret was not his favorite thing, seeing Juliet for the first time in real life topped everything, "Never seen anyone else stand up to him the way you do."

"I try not to let others words bother me, doesn't always work but as long as I pretend it doesn't they usually let it go." Juliet admits with a shrug of her shoulders, the yellow cardigan a bit large around her but still flattered her dark skin beautifully, "Plus, Draco just doesn't wanna admit that my affection toward him when he was a animal was probably the best moment of his life."

"Yeah, I can see why." Ron found himself saying without realizing it, flushing quickly as his face fell. Juliet laughed at his words, her own rosy cheeks smiling back at him. Before she'd got on the train Juliet felt as though she'd never smile again, let alone laugh. But here she was, smiling and laughing with Ron Weasley of all people.

i don't feel it till it hurts sometimes.

"Do you like reading?" Juliet asked as she gave the door a good kick, letting it fly open as the two walked into the library with their single bag for the night they'd be staying.

"Definitely not." Ron admits as he looked around at the small library with a small smile, it wasn't a a lot but it was cozy, safe feeling. There where large bookshelves on every wall, a few in the middle of the store and all sorted perfectly by author and gene, "I didn't mind those books you gave me though."

"Told you they'd be lovely." Juliet asked a she waved Ron over toward the staircase that lead to a top floor, "I have to warn you."

"I already told you I don't care." Ron said as he looked up at her from where she stood a stair above him with a worried expression, Juliet shook her head quickly.

"No, no, it's not that. My mom, um, she won't remember who you are by tomorrow. Just try not to take it personal." Juliet begged him as Ron nodded his head quickly, worried for her sake more then he was his and had a feeling she'd said it for reassurance for herself as well. The taller girl took a shaky breath before she pushed the door open, leading Ron into the cozy home.

It wasn't big, a apartment like little home. There was a small hallway just outside the living room that wasn't much bigger with a fireplace, couch, and chair while the kitchen was open, just a few feet away. The house smelt the way Juliet did, vanilla like with a hint of cinnamon. Her home was exactly how Ron would imagine her coming from, it just seemed her.

"I like your house." Ron commented as Juliet laughed under her breath, as if she didn't believe him. Footsteps echoed in the smaller home as a boy, just a few years older then the two, emerged from the hallway.

"I told you that you didn't have to come." the boy said. He resembled Juliet in a way. They both shared the same light brown eye color that was easy to get lost in along with the tall height and wavy locks.

"I know you did, but here I am." Juliet said as she hugged the boy quickly, "This is my friend Ron from school, he wanted to come with me."

"And why's that?" The boy questioned with a odd look toward the redhead boy who stuck out like a sore thumb in their home.

"I wanted him to." Juliet defended Ron quickly to her cousin, "Ron this is my cousin, Nate."

"Hi." Ron said with a clear of his throat, his face flushed at Nates intermediating stare.

"Pleasure." the boy said before he dropped his gaze onto Juliet again, "She's napping right now, you know she doesn't-"

"I know." Juliet cut him off quickly, avoiding eye contact, "Come on Ron, lets get settled."

Ron paused awkwardly infront of Nate, opening his mouth to say something before deciding against it with a clear of his throat, following after the girl quickly.

"He doesn't like me." Ron commented as he watched Juliet look through her things she'd left behind in her room.

"He's like that with everyone." she'd attempted to make him feel better.

"Does he hate everyone?" the Weasley boy questioned her with a raise of his light eyebrows. Juliet didn't answer, simply a guilty look on her face as Ron sighed, "Bloody hell."

"He just likes to keep family matters private, i've never brought anyone besides Cedric back here, he probably things your a imposter." Juliet attempted to make the boy feel better, realizing she's only made it worse when her final word fell from her sentence.

"Bloody hell." Ron repeated, his voice getting higher before he paced around the small room.

"Ron, snap out of it, he's a muggle, he can't do anything." Juliet said, happy with her words for the first time sense they arrived.

"A giant muggle with huge muscles." Ron worried as he stared at her on the floor, watching her amused expression take over while waving him over to sit onto the carpet with her.

"Look, me and the elves I saved." Juliet said, showing him a live photo she'd snuck from hogwarts after she'd been expelled for freeing the elves.

"You know they like it, right?" Ron asked, sitting by her side as he examined the photo, "They like being at our beck and call."

"I know." Juliet said with a shrug and a small frown, "Just makes me sort of sad in a way, I guess."

"Harry freed a elf a few years back, I gave him my sweater mom made before I came with you this morning." Ron admitted, avoiding her eye, though he could tell by the way she shifted she'd been smiling happily.

"Ron, that's so sweet of you." Juliet gushed as she wacked his arm on instinct, "But why would you give away your sweater? I'm sure your Mom wouldn't be happy about that."

"She makes the same one every year, always maroon with a R on the front. I know she tried I guess, but I hate the color." Ron moaned as Juliet laughed at his sad puppy eyes. She'd let her mind wonder later on that night of how much she'd been glad she'd decide to take Ron along with her, knowing she probably wouldn't have made it without him by her side.

"What's your favorite color then?" Juliet questioned as she rested her head on her hand, her elbow digging into her knee as she looked at him sideways with curious eyes.

"Orange, the Chudley Cannons color." Ron pointed out quickly with a nod of his head, "Whats yours?"

"Purple, like the Amethyst that grow right by the Forbidden Forest, do you know?" Juliet questioned, Ron hadn't known but he nodded his head anyways, "I don't mind orange though, especially in the later months of the year."

"Juliet." Ron spoke quickly, not being able to hold himself back as he looked at her, in her room, on her floor, "What happened to your hands?"

Juliets face fell as she looked away, a expression Ron had never seen take over her soft features. It was a mix of sadness and humiliation, avoiding his eye at all cost. Ron nudged the pad of his thumb against her knee, just in a grazing type of way, showings a form of kindness and comfort.

"You wouldn't get it." Juliet said to him, her voice was low, almost silent, "I don't even get it."

"I can try." Ron pressured her more, his curiosity getting the best of him, knowing she'd never say anything in the middle of Hogwarts about it. Juliet was silent for a moment longer before inhaling.

"They were burnt, in a house fire across town." Juliet said, hiding her glove covered hands under her thighs in a way of getting the topic off, "That's it."

"Why do you hide them?" Ron asked her, a confused look across him face when Juliet gave him a much more offended one.

"Because Ron." she snapped at him quickly, "They're disgusting, it's not something i'd want to show off."

"Can I see?" Ron asked her again, not catching on to her hatred for the topic.

"No." Juliet said, nearly as quick as his sentence left his mouth. Ron sighed, he hadn't understood what Juliet had to be so insecure about around him of all people, Ron was certain he'd made it clear by now that he'd love her to pieces no matter what.

"You seem mad." Ron said as Juliet sighed and stood to her feet, he'd followed after her, "Don't be mad."

"I just don't like to talk about it." Juliet spoke quickly, staring back at him with a knowing look, "Not now, not with this."

"That was my fault, sorry." Ron spoke to her quickly again. Juliet nodded as she stared at him for a moment, Ron tucked his head in embarrassment slightly, glancing upwards from where he'd been looking down, feeling her gaze staring at him. Juliet opened her mouth to say something before the door opened.

The duo backed away from each other, not realizing how awfully close they were until now. Nate gave a judgment look toward Ron again before he stared at Juliet, "Shes awake."
