CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE:
GOOD NEWS

SO MANY QUESTIONS WERE FLYING through her brain. But the one that kept repeating over and over more than all of the others was simply: what had her sister found? Should she be scared? Should she be nervous? Had Jemma managed to keep her secret away from Fitz who could be a little nosey at times even though he meant well? So many questions with so little answers, yet she found herself walking closer and closer to her sisters lab with Daisy at her side, their fingers interlaced with one another's before they came to a stop in front of the lab.

Sapphire watched Fitz and Jemma, watching as they focused on the results, barely even taking note of the fact that Sapphire and Daisy had arrived. Sapphire didn't say anything, deciding to wait until they noticed her before she forced herself into the room. When Fitz looked up, meeting her eyes, she watched as his eyes seemed to widen slightly, and immediately Sapphire knew that Fitz knew about her. She knew the man all too well, watching as he stood up a little straighter, swallowing thickly and smoothing his hands along his pants to indicate his nerves were making him sweat a little.

Jemma looked up, allowing a small smile to form on her face before glancing towards Fitz and sighing to herself, replacing the smile with an apologetic look. Forcing a smile on her face, Sapphire entered the lab with Daisy at her side, the doors closing behind them so that they couldn't be heard. The two women made their way over to Fitz and Jemma, Sapphire glancing towards Fitz as he still stood as straight as he could. Sapphire cocked and eyebrow whilst Jemma mad it a point to reach over and slap his arm, making him look at her.

ย  ย ย  "Stop it," Jemma muttered. "We talked about this."

Fitz cleared his throat, rubbing a hand on the back of his neck before muttering an apology. Sapphire for some reason couldn't help but smile. She understood he was nervous, and she was just as nervous as he was, but all that she knew was he didn't run away. And to her, that was progress. She found herself squeezing Daisy's hand slightly with Daisy squeezing her hand back.

ย  ย ย  "It's okay," Sapphire assured him, nodding her head slightly. "Clearly you know." Jemma went to apologize, but Sapphire just held up a hand, waving her off. "It's alright, Jemma. It was bound to happen anyways. I only have a one favor to ask of you, Fitz. Can you keep this a secret, please? Just for a little while. I plan to tell the others, I do. But I just want to be in complete control first so that there isn't any chance whatsoever of me hurting them." She swallowed thickly, looking at him with begging eyes and a scared frown on her lips..

ย  ย ย  Ditz looked at her before nodding his head. "I promise I won't say anything until you're ready." And he meant that. If there was one thing Fitz knew, it was the fact that he was bad at keeping secrets. But he was also an amazing friend and he understood that this meant everything to Sapphire, so if he had to die over keeping her secret, then he would die on that hill and he wouldn't regret it. He could see the fear dancing in her eyes, knowing that how he reacted meant everything to her--even if he had yet to see what exactly he could do. He just smiled, nodding his head to reassure her.

ย  ย ย  Sapphire nodded. "Thank you." Fitz nodded. Sapphire cleared her throat, turning her head to look at her sister. "Alright, give me the results. How bad is it? Or rather, how noticeable is it in my DNA?" She placed on hand over her stomach, latching her hand onto her arm with her other hand still holding onto Daisy's in hopes of gaining some kind of comfort. She didn't know what was about to be said to her. She didn't know what to expect.

ย  ย ย  "Why do you always assume that it's going to be bad?" Jemma frowned.

ย  ย ย  "Because when have you ever brought forth results that aren't bad?" Sapphire asked. Jemma didn't answer. "Exactly. Nowโ€•๏ธŽ"

ย  ย ย  "I have brought plenty of good news." Jemma quickly defended.

ย  ย ย  "I'll believe that when I see it."

ย  ย ย  "I have!" She looked between Fitz and Daisy. "Tell her that I've brought good news."

ย  ย ย  "News in which I was never present for." Sapphire sarcastically smiled.

ย  ย ย  "Jesus, can you two stop being sisters for two minutes?" Fitz spoke up, making the siblings turn and look at him.

ย  ย ย  "She started it." Jemma muttered.

ย  ย ย  "Really? What are we, in second grade?" Sapphire scoffed.

ย  ย ย  "I'm not telling you now."

ย  ย ย  "Jemma, I'm literally a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent turned Elsa. I can kick your ass and get to those results faster than you can blink." Sapphire shoved her hair off of her shoulders. "Now, are we going to continue this little sibling spat of ours, or are you gonna tell me the damn results?"

ย  ย ย  "Only if you ask nicely."

ย  ย ย  Daisy sighed. "Seriously, Jem?"

ย  ย ย  "Fine. Can I please see my results?"

ย  ย ย  Jemma smiled in satisfaction, nodding her head. "Yes you can."

ย  ย ย  She walked away and Sapphire turned her head to look at Daisy. "I can't believe I let my sister win."

ย  ย ย  "I can't believe you had the most childish argument during a time like this." Daisy shot back.

ย  ย ย  "What can I say, we haven't argued in two years, we're just making up the time." Sapphire shrugged her shoulders, offering Daisy a small smile. Daisy looked at the female before rolling her eyes, turning her attention back towards Jemma as she made her way back over towards the two women. She placed a tablet on the desk, sliding it over towards them. Sapphire and Daisy exchanged glances before looking down at the tablet.

ย  ย ย  A sigh fell from Sapphire's lips before she looked back towards her sister. "Now, what the hell is that?"
