CHAPTER SEVEN:
A PLAN

FOUR MONTHS. ANOTHER FOUR MONTHS she was stuck in that place before Sage Daniels' plan could be set into motion. The dark skinned woman had been sent out on a mission for HYDRA, and while she was out, she managed to swing by the place where her girlfriend was. Sage walked into the facility, her shoulders straight as her boots clicked against the floor before she found where Maria was placed. The woman had her arms placed on her hips as she scanned the location of different people and kept track of their succession on different missions they were thrown into. Maria turned when she heard the familiar quick paced footsteps coming towards her.

Sage met eyes with Maria, the woman nodding her head before dismissing herself and silently telling Sage to follow her. They entered an interrogation room, Sage closing the door behind her before she let out a sigh, looking at the woman she had come to love over the several months of bullshit they had both been thrown into together.

"Well?" Maria asked.

"Not even a hello?" Sage joked. Maria smiled.

"Welcome back."

Sage nodded her head. "Better."

"What's the news? You were supposed to report back four months ago. But nothing, you had me worried there for a minute, Daniels."

"Right, sorry about that. But, I found your girl."

"Sapphire?" Maria quickly asked. Sage nodded her head.

"Maria, it's bad. She's going through new trauma day after day, and I can't do anything about it without getting caught, and getting us both killed." She looked Maria in the eyes, worry clearly creased on her face. "We need to do something, and fast. I don't know how much more she'll be able to take before she's completely broken."

Maria frowned at this before nodding her head. "Give me the location. I'm sure there's something I can come up with that won't cause her death."

Sage nodded before giving the woman she loved the location of the hidden HYDRA facility. And then, it was time for her to go once more. The two exchanged a quick kiss, knowing they would see one another soon.

"Be safe." Maria requested. Sage smiled, giving the nod of her head.

"I always am." Sage gave her one last look before turning on her heel and walking out of the room, out of the facility, and back towards the HYDRA base. Maria stood there for a moment, looking at the written down location Sage had given her. She pulled her phone out, looking at the number she was about to dial before shaking her head slightly and pressing enter. The phone rang, and then the woman she needed picked up.

"Maria." She greeted.

"May, I know where Sapphire's at."

To say Sapphire felt drained would be an understatement. She felt so weak, feeling that if she would get another needle put into her arm, that it would just go right through. She knew that she was no longer the person she used to be. She knew something had changed within her, though she chose not to figure out what that was. Maybe it was wrong of her to reject whatever it was that she could do, but she couldn't help it. It caused her to kill a woman that had been fighting for her life, just like Sapphire had been for that past year and a half.

She sat in her room, staring blankly at the white wall that was in front of her. She was hungry, she had refused to eat for days, knowing that if she ate that they would be able to use the experimental drugs on her without the higher possibility of her dying on the table. She knew what her worth was to them. And although the HYDRA soldiers didn't show her, she knew that she was important and one of the more successful of experiments that they had created. She was ninety-nine percent sure that all the others were dead. She hadn't fought anyone in weeks, and she wasn't exactly sure if there was anyone that left that she could fight.

This of course made Sage's plan to get her out of here ten times more difficult. But, Sapphire trusted the dark haired woman. She was Maria Hill's girlfriend for Christ's sake, and Maria Hill was one of Sapphire's bestfriends. Sapphire knew of Sage's past, the woman taking it upon herself to tell it to Sapphire so that she could place her full trust in her. She jumped out of thought when her door opened. She looked up, immediately standing when she saw Sage there.

"Well?" The brunette quizzed.

Sage gave her a small nod. "We're getting you out of here. Just one more day, and then you can leave. I need you to be strong for me, for one more day. Do you think you can do that?"

Sapphire looked at her. Could she really do that? Be strong, and not fight against the agents that were holding her hostage? She thought about it for a moment before she nodded her head. She had to. If there was even the slightest possibility that she was going to get to see her sister again, then she would take that chance. Even if it meant that she was unsuccessful and died in the process.

She looked at Sage, nodding her head once again. "Just one more day. And then I get to see my sister."

"Just one more day." Sage promised. "Eat this, and then get some sleep. You'll need your energy for the morning."

Sapphire walked up to her, grabbing the bread and quickly eating it before taking a few sips from the water bottle Sage had provided her. She gave the water back before looking at Sage and giving her a thankful smile. "Thank you, for helping me out of here."

Sage gave her a smile back before saying, "No problem." With that, the woman closed the door leaving Sapphire to herself once again. The woman laid down on the hard bed, smiling as she realized that there was actually a chance she would get to see Jemma once again.
