CHAPTER NINE:
HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT

IT WAS ALL COMING TO a close. Sapphire sat there, impatiently bouncing her leg up and down as she sat there in the blank cell room. Her arms were placed in her laps with her fingers messing with one another. She didn't take note of how truly cold it was in her designated room, hell, she probably wouldn't have noticed if her room was on fire. All Sapphire could think about was the possibility of being able to see her sister again.

Sapphire was lost in her head as she stared blankly at the white wall. She was thinking so many things at one time, that it was making her head hurt. She couldn't help but think of all of the possible outcomes that could take place. What if they failed and they got killed in the process of trying to get her out of this place? What if they got captured instead of killed and were forced to go through the same thing Sapphire had to go through? That thought made a violent shutter run down her spine. She wouldn't wish what she had gone through on anyone.

Sapphire was pulled from her thoughts when she heard the door open for a brief second before closing once again. She turned her head, looking at the slice of bread that laid on the floor and a small cup of water. A sigh fell from the woman's lips as she forced herself from her sitting position, walking over to the food and just looking down at it. She almost didn't want to eat it, knowing that it would only give HYDRA the true satisfaction that they wanted from her. But then she remembered, she was going to escape. She was going to get out of here if it was the last thing that she did.

Sapphire pushed her hair off of her shoulder as she kneeled down and picked up the bread and water. She walked back over to the hard bed, sitting back down and taking a moment to examine the bread that she was ninety-nine percent sure was stale. She muttered curses under her breath before forcing herself to take a bite of the food, biting back a cringe as the rough bread slid down her throat.

The female softly ran her fingers through her matted hair, using her other hand to take the water she had like a shot. God, she wished she had a shot of alcohol at all. What she wouldn't kill for an ounce of alcohol. She made a silent promise to herself that as soon as she got out of this hell hole prison, she would make herself so drunk, she wouldn't remember an ounce of the day prior.

The door opened, making the girl glanced up with furrowed eyebrows. She saw a HYDRA agent standing there, looking at the woman with narrowed eyes. "Come."

"Um, I think you're mistaken. I've already done everything for the day." Sapphire spoke with furrowed eyebrows. She thought for a moment, recalling the training session she had had, the experiments she had went through, the shower she received, and the food that had been fed to her. That was everything on the normal checklist, and Sapphire had already done it all. But now she didn't understand what this HYDRA agent wanted with her.

The man narrowed his eyes at her and she rolled her eyes before forcing herself off of the bed and walking towards him. He harshly grabbed onto her bicep, ripping her out of her room and dragging her down the hallway. She let out a snarl, struggling in the man's extremely tight grasp. "Where the hell are you taking me?"

"A place that they should've brought you when you first got here." The man snarled. She looked at the man, utterly confused. They stopped in front of a door, Sapphire's back being pressed against it as she looked at the agent. He narrowed his eyes at her. "You took everything from me. I'm going to repay you the favor."

"Aw, did I kill your family?" Sapphire said with a pout. "Were they also HYDRA agents and imbecile's like you?" She spat the words at him, watching as he clenched his teeth before pushing her through the door and into the experimentation room. Sapphire cocked an eyebrow at him. "I don't know if you've notice, but they did put me in this room when I first got here."

"Not for the right reasons. They made you powerful. I can't let you live another day." The man spoke, pulling out his gun. Sapphire narrowed her eyes at him, her head cocking slightly as her eyes started to glow.

"Hit me with your best shot." She spoke. And in a matter of seconds, a gun shot rang out, and a gasp fell from her lips.
