CHAPTER ELEVEN:
IT WASN'T A DREAM

SAPPHIRE LAY THERE, AN IV hooked up to her arm and her eyes were closed. She had passed out from lack of blood loss, and was now laying down, unconscious. Melinda May stood right outside of the room, her eyes looking at her friend through the glass window with her arms crossed over her chest. She was the only one that knew Sapphire was back, minus Phil Coulson and Maria Hill. She was going to tell Jemma, but decided that she wouldn't until the woman was at least conscious.

In her room, Sapphire stirred. A groan falling from her lips. She slowly tried to pull her eyes open, the bright lights over her head making her go blind for a moment and causing her to blink several times. She looked around, fear seeming to coat her body as she had only seen the white walls. Melinda May rescuing her had only been a dream, and now she was stuck inside a HYDRA base. Or so she thought. Daisy, who had been walking down the hallways towards the kitchen, stopped upon hearing the rise of a heartbeat.

She quickly turned her head, looking through the window where a girl sat up, trying to rip her IV from her arm, though being too weak to do so. Daisy didn't know who the brunette was, but she was gorgeous and seemed to look a lot like Jemma. Daisy quickly pushed into the room, grabbing Sapphire's attention. The brunette seemed to move backwards, trying to move away from Daisy who quickly held up her hands.

ย  ย ย  "Hey, it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." Daisy calmly told her.

ย  ย ย  "Bullshit." Sapphire hissed. "You idiots did this to me."

ย  ย ย  "How could I have done this to you. I don't even know who you are." Daisy frowned.

ย  ย ย  "You HYDRA bastards are going to die. Soon. I can promise you that." Sapphire seemed to be out of it, blinking several times as she tried to focus on the person that stood in front of her.

ย  ย ย  "Wait, HYDRA?" Daisy questioned.

ย  ย ย  "What are you doing in here?" The voice of Melinda May filled her ears as she entered the room.

ย  ย ย  "Her heart rate was going up and I got concerned." Daisy defended. "Who even is this?"

ย  ย ย  "Don't tell anyone about her, got it?" May snapped. "Now, get out." Daisy quickly did as told, watching as May glared at her before closing the door. May walked over towards Sapphire, the girl blinking a few times as if she were trying to blink away the hallucination in front of her. But the figure just wouldn't go away. Melinda carefully took a seat at the foot of her bed, offering her a small smile. "Hey, Saph."

ย  ย ย  "Go away. You're not real." Sapphire shook her head, furiously rubbing her eyes. But it wasn't until May grabbed her wrists, pulling them away from her face. Sapphire looked down at where her best friend's hands were latched around her wrists before looking up towards the woman, with tears forming in her eyes. "Is it over? Am I really. . . am I really back? It wasn't a dream."

ย  ย ย  "I didn't know you dreamed about me." May responded, smirking slightly as Sapphire let out a teary laugh. Sapphire leaned forward and engulfed the woman into a hug, needing the human contact that she hadn't gotten in a year. Tears trickled down her cheeks, though they weren't sad tears, they were happy tears. She was home. She was finally home and out of that hell hole that she never thought would end. When she pulled away, she wiped the tears from her face.

ย  ย ย  "So, what did I miss?"

โ”๏ธŽโ”๏ธŽโ”๏ธŽโ”๏ธŽโ”๏ธŽ

After May caught her up on everything, including what all had happened with her sister, it took everything in her to not rip the IV from her arm and jump out of that bed. But she knew that she wouldn't have been able to do anything anyways, she had been with HYDRA during most of it, remembering when her sister had gotten sick and jumped out of the plane in hopes of saving everyone. She couldn't do anything about the past. So, instead, Sapphire laid there, staring blankly at the ceiling as she started to slowly heal from her wounds.

Sapphire felt like she was going crazy, laying there in that bed, and wondering whether or not her sister knew she was back. She missed Jemma, she missed her little sister so incredibly much and once she pulled herself out of that bed she was going to hug her and never let her go. All she could hear was the conversation she and Jemma had had moments before she had left to go on that mission. Promising her sister that she would be back within a few days, only to be gone a year instead. She couldn't even imagine how Jemma was feeling. But she couldn't help but wonder if she had moved on.

ย  ย ย  She needed to see her. So when May entered the room once more, Sapphire was quick to sit up, ignoring the pain that shot through her entire body. "You have to let me see her." Sapphire begged.

ย  ย ย  "Saphโ€•๏ธŽ"

ย  ย ย  "She's my little sister." Sapphire shook her head. "I haven't seen her in two years, and within those two years so much shit has happened to her. I need to see her, okay?" Sapphire went to get out of bed, but May stopped her.

ย  ย ย  "Sapphire, you need to lay down." May sternly told the woman.

ย  ย ย  "No." Sapphire shook her head. "No, I won't. I need to see her. I needโ€•๏ธŽ" Her heart rate started to spike again, and May muttered curses under her breath before getting up and grabbing a sedative, quickly giving it to the girl and watching with a frown as Sapphire fell back on the bed, asleep. She knew that the woman would kill her for doing that, but Sapphire became blind sighted when it came to Jemma. And she knew how much pain the girl was in, and she didn't want anything to happen to Sapphire, not anything else. With that, May walked out of the room, leaving Sapphire to rest, and to inform Coulson on the girl's status.
