It's your second year at East Highland Highschool, in Los Angeles California. You have been talking with your friends in the hallways while waiting for your next class to start, Despite you being deemed "Popular" in the school there's always one person that makes it their job to mess with you every chance they get, Madeline fucking Perez. She was also well-known in the school building. But as far as you know, you've done nothing to the girl yet that doesn't stop her from poking fun at you for no reason.

It doesn't really bother you as much because you two are in the same friend group so you just took it as friendly teasing but it still sort of got to you. Well anyway, here you are talking to your friend Lexi Howard (Sister to your best friend of 8 years, Cassie Howard).

"-So I don't know, I guess he might take me out on a date or something I'm not sure." You snap back into the conversation you were having with Lexi. "Huh?" She gives you a confused expression "I was talking about me and Fezco... are you okay?" You shake your head and respond to her question "I'm okay I was just thinking." You see Lexi make a face, You know that face it's a smug look you can't describe. "Ooh were you thinking about Maddy?" You roll your eyes at the brown-haired girl "I mean, I was but not in the way you're thinking Lex." Basically, everyone in your friend group knew about the crush you had on Maddy, Well everyone except for Maddy of course.

Despite her picking on you here and there, You still had strong feelings for the girl but the mixed signals she gave you were insane. The cause of said signals she gives you really mess things up, one minute she's flirting with you and the next she's talking about your "Poor taste in fashion." It honestly feels like a waste of time but you still stick around anyway. You were about to listen to Lexi's response until you see Cassie, Maddy, and Rue walk up to you both.

You stand near Lexi awkwardly after hugging Rue and Cassie. You were debating if you should hug Maddy until you already feel her arms around your body embracing you in a tight hug while giving you a kiss on your cheek. "Hi y/n/n" She casually greets. "Oh hi Mads," you say pulling away from the tight hug, It's always been awkward hugging anyone who wasn't Rue or Cassie but even more awkward if it was Maddy, especially with the kiss on the cheek she gives you. It always reminded you of the time she kissed you on the cheek but you turned your head to look at Cassie which caused her to kiss you on the corner of your lips. It obviously didn't bother her because she didn't even care but for you, it was on your mind all week.

So here you are now sitting in Maddy's bedroom on her bed, You and the girls had gone to Maddy's house after school but of course, everyone besides you decides to go home which leaves you and Maddy alone, Convenient right? Now you were just watching Maddy do her nightly skincare routine while mildly loud music plays from her speaker. Just sitting there on her bed you hear Maddy break the silence, "So are you sleeping over or what?" You check the text you just got from your mom saying that she's working late tonight. You shut your phone off after texting your mom a simple thumbs-up emoji and a heart. "Uh yeah I'll sleep over my moms working late tonight and I don't want to be alone." Maddy just nods her head as she finishes brushing her hair. She walks over to you saying "Well check my closet for some clothes you can sleep in, There are at least two pairs of pajamas that are bigger than my regular size." You just say "Okay" and change your clothes in the bathroom.

A few more hours pass and you're just watching a movie with Maddy as she plays with your hair. You take a deep breath and prepare yourself for what you're about to say. "Uh, Maddy" She stops playing with your hair as you turn your body to face her. "Do you like me or are you just messing with me?" Maddy makes a face of confusion. "Where is this coming from y/n/n?" You sigh and run your fingers through your hair, "I mean some days you flirt with me and the other days you just either give me attitude or act as if I don't exist. So I have to know now if you want to e with me or I'm just reading this whole situation wrong." You say messing with your fingers.

There was a long pause and awkward tension in the air, But suddenly it all stops when Maddy grabs your hand and kisses you softly. "Y/n I've liked you for a while now but I thought you were into Rue so I guess that's why I ignored you, But I still flirted with you to see if I still have a chance with you." A wide smile spreads across your face hearing Maddy say this to you. You lean in for another kiss while blushing. There's another pause but not an uncomfortable one, This one is more relaxing. 

"So are we dating now or...?" You ask unsure

"Yes, we are," Maddy says chuckling.
