16: The new girl

"Amber! Amber!" I hear voices shout from outside my door.

"Ugh, what?" I groan, opening it.

"There's a new girl at the Palm Woods!" They say in unison.

"Okay?" I scoff.

"Kendall is with her!" They exclaim.

"Okay, why would I have a problem with that? We talked last night and he agreed that we should be friends. But I declined since he wouldn't tell me the reason why he's been acting like an asshole." I shrug.

"Wait, so you guys aren't friends still?" Carlos asks in confusion.

"No exactly. But, if he tells me the reasoning of his actions, I'll reconsider his offer." I state.

"So, you're not...jealous?" James asks.

"No." I scoff and Logan raises an eyebrow.

"Why would I be? He's not my boyfriend. Who am I to control him? He can date or hangout with whoever he wants." I nod.

"So then, you wouldn't mind if we introduced you then?" Logan asks.

"Sure. Gustavo gave the day off and I have nothing else to do." I shrug, grabbing my phone off the kitchen counter.

"Let's roll." I say and shut the door behind me.

"There they are." James says and I see a girl with red and black hair talking with Kendall.

He's actually smiling and seems happy.

I'm happy for him, he deserves it.

"Remember, play it cool." Carlos says in a deep voice.

"Won't be a problem for me. I don't about you guys." I chuckle.

"All true statements." Logan says.

"C'mon gang." James says and we all follow behind him.

"Carlos, for the last time, I don't know where your helmet is!" I say, giving him a wink and he quickly catches on.

"But I had it the night I was at the pool with you!"

"Hey...guys." Kendall says and I grin at the red and black haired girl.

"Hi, I'm Lucy." She says.

"Hi, I'm Amber." I say, shaking her hand.

"Sorry, were we interrupting something?" James asks.

"No, we were just talking." Kendall shrugs and he nods.

"Guys, sit. I wouldn't mind some more company." Lucy says.

"Okay." Logan grins and we all sit down.

"I like your hair." I compliment.

"Thanks. I like your tattoo." She says and I look down at my right arm.

"What does it mean?" She asks.

If you didn't know, I have the word trust tattooed on my arm.

I got it when I was 15.

"I've gone through some pretty rough stuff in my life so, it reminds who I should trust and who I shouldn't. I got it when I was 15." I shrug and she nods.

"Huh?" The three boys say in shock.

"Your parents said yes to a tattoo at 15?" Logan asks.

"What they don't know, won't hurt them." I wink.

"She's so cool." Carlos whispers and I chuckle, shaking my head.

I feel Kendall's eyes on me but I don't dare to look up, I won't cave in.

"Do you have any?" I ask Lucy.

"Yeah, one on my neck and a few on my arm." She says and I nod.

"Anyway, I gotta head to my apartment. I could use some help moving in?" She asks

"I'll help you." Kendall says, standing up.

"See you guys later." Kendall says to the boys, walking past me.

"We should hang later. If you'd like?" Lucky asks me.

"Sure. I'll meet you at the pool at 8?" I ask her.

"Perfect." She grins and follows Kendall into the lobby.

"She's so pretty." James says, mesmerized by her.

"Her hair is so cool!" Carlos says.

"She's intrigues me." Logan shrugs.

"Yeah, Lucy's really chill. I see why Kendall likes her." I nod, flipping my hair.

"Wait, how can you be so sure?" Logan asks.

"Um, isn't it obvious by now? He's already friends with her, constantly smiles at her and is already helping her move in." I state.

"Wow, I think you covered pretty much everything." Logan says and I nod.

"You're really not jealous?" Carlos cringes.

"No, why would I be? Like I said, he's not my boyfriend. If he likes Lucy, that's cool. They'd make a good couple. Anyway, you guys know where Katie is?"

"Yeah, she should be in our apartment." James says and I nod.

"Thanks. See you guys later." I say and they nod and I walk into the lobby, heading to the elevator.

I need to talk to Katie, asap.
