As children you always wanted to be pirates together. He would be the captain; he would always giggle when you always called him "captian Ace" in your high pitch squeaky voice and for you, you would be his right hand man. The two of you agreed that you'd married and have a hundred billion children who can all work on your boat. You wished this was your future, you wish it was him. If things didn't turn the wrong way maybe life would be as simple as you wished when you were young. In a different universe maybe things wouldn't turn out the same; would he still be alive you would never know. Yet you missed him so much it hurts, it burns. When he died it was like a wildfire set off in you by him and only him, disappearing like a candle at the end of its life.

You sat on the edge of the boat, rocking as waves crashed against it almost in a soothing way. Luffy sat next to you, the two of you sat in silence as memories of Ace continued to flood your mind.

'Hey y/n, you okay?'

He was always sweet to you. He had Ace's sweetness to him and his smile was the one Ace gave you when you were children.

'Just miss him!'

He wrapped your arm around you pulling you in a tight side on hug as you looked onto the horizon of the sea.

'Y/n?'

You gave him a small sound as you turned your head, in his hands he held something of the utmost favourable to you. Ace's bracelet. He held it tightly. For if it fell into the water you would never be able to forgive him. He pulled your hand out of your lap slowly placing it upon your arm as he tied it on your wrist.

'He would of wanted to be here with you Y/n,'

You smiled, your head rested upon his shoulder. The three of you were drawn to the water, drawn to the dangerous life of pirating and it was only fate one of you would meet the blade of a pirate, sealing your fate leaving a stain on their hands. Only if it was him, you would trade your place for his. If he got to live it would make you happy to see him alive. Luffy, had no clue about the plans you shared with Ace, nothing of the two of you planning a wedding, planning how many kids you wanted. All he knows is that you were close as could be, closer than thieves in the night, closer than anything.

'He would have wanted to be with us, not just me Luffy.'

You sighed, and jumped back. You ruffled his hat with a sigh, upon one of the crates you picked up Ace's hat placing it upon your own head as you walked up the steps to the ship's wheel placing a hand on it you stared down Luffy with a small smile.

'In the name of Portgas D. Ace!' you shouted,

Together the crew cheered his name which made you laugh.

'Onwards!'

In that moment you felt as if Ace was beside you, sailing the ship with an arm wrapped around you, in that moment you felt at peace of his death, he was going to be there with you no matter what. You were glad you got to meet a man like him, meet your soulmate who guided you this far you were thankful as so, you may miss but he'll be watching you from above.
