The special night had rolled in like any other year, it was a Sohma tradition for every Sohma to come to celebrate the New Year including those Sohma's who didn't live within the main estate. Yet for those living with zodiac spirits it was a draining experience to keep on Akito's good side for the whole night and impress the head of the family. The new year beginning was the year of the rabbit, meaning Momiji had to present the New Year's dance to all of the zodiac spirits except for the cat.

y/n let a small sigh escape her lips as she put on a happy face. She opened the traditional Shoji door to the main house where only the zodiac members and a few maids and butlers were allowed at this time if any. The hallway was extremely quiet apart from the sound of her kimono as she moved down the hall around the corner to see other zodiac members like herself. Momiji bolted straight for her, pulling her in for a large hug with his closed eyed grin. "Y/n! Is that the kimono Akito picked for you?" Momiji stared at the girl who nodded her head placing a hand in the boy's hair "Yeah it is, oh Momiji happy year of the rabbit." Momiji smiled as he played with the sleeve of the kimono. "Thank you Y/n, your kimono looks-" he was cut off due to the abrupt opening to Akito's room by none other than Akito herself.

Akito smiled as she leant against the doorframe, "Y/n, come here sweetie." Y/n nodded her head, momiji let go of the girl as she followed Akito into the room with Akito giving the rest of the zodiacs a scary smile. Akito tackled Y/n to the floor, her arms enwrapping the young girl "Akito, you seem good." Y/n smiled turning to the head who didn't seem too impressed. "You know your like a little sister to me right," Y/n nodded her head as Akito placed her forehead to Y/n's, "I didn't like when you followed the rest to that public school, with that stupid cat there." Akito spat the last few words making Y/n shiver at her coldness towards him. "He's not a bad person, u know that." Akito smirked as she placed her lips to the girl's ear lobe "You're so innocent my dear Y/n,"Akito smiled against Y/n's ear holding her slightly tighter so that her nails began to dig into her skin. Yet the younger girl couldn't reply due to the Shigure entering with the sly smile of his, "Akito you better leave poor Y/n alone the banquet is about to begin." With that Akito took the younger girl and the older gentlemen off the the zodiac banquet with the rest.

The banquet had finished a while ago, the Zodiac members were gathered around a large table of food chatting away with everyone. Y/n stood to the side, her mind raced over the things Akito had spoken about, Kyo wasn't a bad person was he? She stood puzzled for a moment before she spotted the large stack of colourful mochi balls, her eyes glittered at the sight Y/n remembered when she was given her first mochi ball by none other than Kyo when the two were about four. She smiled yet that changed when Akito took grip of the girl, wrapping her under the girl as her head sat on Y/n's shoulder nudging it into her neck. Shigure stared at Y/n noticing how she kept staring at the mochi, he quickly grabbed Y/n out of Akito's hands, bending down to her ear level. He continued to smile at the angry head of the family while he whispered to the girl, "I think it would be nice if you got yourself and Kyo a mochi ball and ran along to find him. I got Akito don't worry about her." Y/n nodded as Shigure let her go. She wandered up to the food table slipping two mochi balls, one coloured orange and one coloured purple into her hand hidden in her sleeve.

Y/n opened the traditional shoji doors, she slipped out closing the doors as she did. She wandered through the night, it took her awhile but she finally found the zodiac spirit of the cat leaning on the railing of one of the small bridges in the estate. He stared at the small water stream below, with a sad look yet that changed when his eyes landed on the girl who gave him a small smile. Y/n walked beside the boy, "I wouldn't think Akito would let you go." Kyo stared at the girl as she pulled two mochi balls from her sleeve pushing them close to him as he took the orange one with a smirk. "Shigure, covered for me." Y/n smiled taking a bite from her mochi ball which caused the boy to do the same thing but with his, "So Akito doesn't know that her 'pet' is with the monster i guess."Kyo stared at the girl who had stopped eating her mochi ball at this point. "But you're not a monster Kyo! You're the opposite in fact you're the sweetest kindest person ever-" she was cut off by his lips pressed against her own and it stayed like that till for a while.

Kyo pulled apart staring at the girl until he realized what happened, he turned his head to the side blushing as he brought the hand holding the mochi ball up to his face. Y/n bent forward eating the rest of his mochi ball in the process "Hey u can't do that!" Kyo blurted out, making the girl giggle "Sorry Kyo," she turned her head seeing angry Akito pushing Shigure out of the way to get to the girl. Akito's arms wrapped around Y/n making the girl go silent as she stood there "Why is the cat, speaking to my Y/n, Shigure?" Akito gave the boy a glare before Shigure butted in. "Y/n was just getting some fresh air, I guess they bumped into each other." Akito went with Shigure's idea of how things went down as she pulled Y/n behind her. "Fine then, come on let's go back." Akito wrapped an arm around the younger girl pulling her away with Shigure on the other side. Y/n turned to the side giving the boy a sneaky air kiss which he pretended to catch and sent one of his own back at her, he smiled even though she had disappeared back into the main house, he was happy that he finally told her his feelings in some way or another.
