The atmosphere in the Ubuyashiki household was unsettling as darkness began to stretch over the sky like tiny spiders coiling their web. There was something odd about the night that would soon dawn upon the household, something Y/n couldn't put her finger to it. She could feel a demon lurking around the estate, though the border was covered with wisteria trees for protection. She pushed open the fusuma door, stepping out the cold wind hit her body as her toes curled around the edge of the porch. She stared upon the sky for a moment longer watching the shadows begin to get bigger and bigger, stretching darkness further from her sight.

'Kanzaburo!' Her voice was soft but it was loud enough for the old crow to soar through the sky and land on her arm as she stretched it out to it.

It cawed to her as she placed her finger under his beak giving him gentle scratches as she smiled to it.

'Giyu...' the bird squawked,

Wrong. Y/n stared at the bird, did he just call her Giyu? She let out a loud breath bringing the bird closer to her.

'Send for Giyu and ask for his presence immediately.'

The crow nodded his head as he set off to find his owner, before he repeated her sentence though it was incorrect.

'Send for Tanjiro ask for his presence immediately - Squawk-'

Y/n smiled though it soon turned into a frown, she felt the demon getting closer and closer though it was still far away. She slowly sat down, closing her eyes, hoping Giyu would get here before things got too far out of hand.

Giyu stood in the middle of the forest, surrounded by bodies of deceased demons he had slayen. Some demons were decapitated, others were cut up into small thin slices. He stood silent for a moment before the sound of a familiar squawk made him turn the same way he heard it from. He watched Kanzaburo, placing his arm out as the crow landed upon it before he spoke.

'-Squawk- Y/n... presence immediately at Ubuyashiki mansion.' Giyu looked worried,

Y/n never asked for his presence immediately which made him worry. He let Kanzaburo fly once more, as Giyu began to run to the mansion.

Y/n's worry only got worse as she heard the fall of one of the wisteria trees directly in front of her. She slowly got to her feet staring at what she could make out to be the fat blob of a demon that lurked where the tree had fallen. She made eye contact with the demon seeing it grin ear to ear. She knew she was a sitting duck, her body weak, she was a easy meal for him to gobble up.

'Dinner time.' The demon chuckled,

She watched the blob get bigger and bigger, she let out a sigh as the thing began to run at her to devour her whole. She shut her eyes, yet instead of being grabbed she heard the clean cut of a demon's head being decapitated. She opened her eyes to see Giyu placing his katana back into its sheath.

'Giyu..' she whispered,

She placed her toes off of the porch, Giyu moved forward he held his arms out holding the girl as he placed her on the pebbles below.

'Are you okay?' He asked,

She gave him a smile, nodding her head before she bowed to him. She stared at him with a blush upon her face, Y/n liked the boy the two were of similar age and she was the only one she favoured.

She grabbed the sleeve of his hatori before her hand slithered to grab his, placing her hands around his she held it up between the two.

'Will you stay the night?' She asked,

He nodded his head, picking the girl up. He carefully leapt onto the porch before placing her back down and letting her go. She waddled into the room, where the futon laid in the middle of the room, she sat down on the mattress, the blankets were snaked beside her. Giyu sat beside her, he reached over and placed the blanket up to her knees, staring at the same slain demon in the garden as she was in comfortable silence.

'Do you,' she paused, turning her head to stare at him, 'Do you think demons and humans could one day be friends?'

She bit her tongue for a moment, she knew he didn't slay Nezuko because she was Tanjiro's sister, she wondered what he felt about demons now.

'What do you think?' Giyu asked,

He heard a chuckle from the girl, before he felt her head be placed into his lap with her staring up at him.

'I ask you... but perhaps you don't know the answer... either.'

Her voice was soft, almost unhearable as she felt her body become washed over with sleep. She gave him a small smile before she nodded off. Giyu stared down at the girl, pulling the blanket to cover most of her body. He gave her a smile moving a few stands of her hair out of her eyes.

'Goodnight, y/n.' He whispered.
