━━━ 03. distraction

|chapter three:: distraction|

"I swear, detective, if you interrogate me one more time, you'll be hearing from my lawyer." I sighed as I took a seat in the empty classroom.

"Hopefully, Adriana, this will be the last time," She assured, "Plus I just want to ask you some things."

I let out a scoff, "Last time you said that, I was stuck in the interrogation room for hours and placed as a suspect for the murder of my sister."

"And I apologize for what you had to go through," She said, sitting across from me, "And this time it's different."

"How so?" I asked, though I already knew.

"Your classmate, Samuel Garcia, has been missing for two days," She informed me, but I sat unfazed. She furrowed her brows, "You don't seem surprised, Adriana."

I let out a dry laugh, "That's because I have bigger shit on my mind than a boy who ran away from home."

|three months ago|

"I didn't see you at the mass," I mentioned, glancing up from my textbook and at Ander, who met my eyes as he sat on his bed and I sat in his chair, "But I did see you in the background of a video where my brother is sucking on that new girl's toes."

"I went, but then I seen how fucked up Guzman was, so Polo and I took him home," He explained, glancing down at his textbook, "I didn't want to put something else on your shoulders."

"I wish I went," I commented, kissing my teeth, "Guzman is out here fighting everyone and getting wasted while I'm here having to pop meds all the time like some addict just because I feel like a piece of shit every night." Out of sudden anger, I slammed my textbook closed, but let out a huff as I rubbed my eyes with the palms of my hands, "I'm sorry, I'm supposed to be helping you study."

"It's fine," He shrugged, sitting silently for a moment, before closing his textbook, "My parents are getting a divorce." Instantly, I meet his eyes, "I think it's because of me. Me playing tennis was the only things keeping them together and now that I quit-"

"You're not to blame, Ander," I assured him, "It's not your fault."

"It sure feels like because I'm supposed to help move his shit out in the next couple of days," He groaned, laying back in his bed. Ander was afraid of quitting tennis until I told him to do what he wants instead of what other people want. Though, when he did finally quit, his parents argued more until the divorce was finally put on the table. Ander then propped himself in his elbows to look at me, "People say there's an upside to a divorce."

I furrowed my brows as I reopened my textbook, "Which is?"

"There's two of everything," He emphasized, "Two rooms, two birthdays, two Christmases."

I let out a low chuckle as I began reading the text, "I guess that's one way of looking at it."

He then groaned again, "I'm thinking about it too much. That's why my grades are dropping like this."

"And that's what I'm here for," I smiled, looking over him, "To help you."

"But I don't want to study," He sighed, "I want to do something else to get my mind off of it- a distraction."

"What's a better distraction then learning the periodic table?" I joked and he let out small laugh.

"I can only think of one," He said, "You."

I looked over at him to see a smirk on his face. I quickly shook my head, "No, Ander, don't think about it. I'm supposed to be your tutor."

"Well, I can't focus because my tutor is so hot," He explained, a smug look on his face as he scanned my body, "And she's wearing a very short and sexy skirt."

I looked down at my skirt, noticing that it rose up a little, so I push it back down, "Ander-"

"Please, Adriana," He begged, "I promise we'll get back to studying. And plus, this is also for educational purposes."

I raised a brow at him, "'Educational purposes'?"

He shrugged slightly, "Yeah, sex ed." I gasped and tossed my pen at him, only for him to dodge it, "Now look, you have no writing utensil, so you have to quit studying."

I chuckled, "You're not going to quit, are you?" He shook his head eagerly and I sighed before placing my book down on the table.

He was quick to clap his hands when did, and I playfully rolled my eyes as I walked over to him, "You did say you always found my determination attractive."

"I think you're getting it confused with annoying," I retorted as he sat up to put his arms around my waist, so he pull me onto him.

"You're acting like you don't need this too," He laughed, before kissing me deeply. I did need it, even though I would never admit it to Ander.

I straddled his waist as we continued kissing, despite him purposely putting his hands higher to where he knows I'm ticklish at. Though when I felt him apply slight pressure, I slapped his hand away after letting out a light giggle, "Stop that!"

"Stop what?" He wondered, an evident smirk on his face as he tossed up his hands briefly before putting them back on my waist. I give him a warning look before he put his face close to mine, "You mean, stop this?" He inched closer to me, having his lips brush against my neck as he began to unbutton my top, "..Or this?"

"Okay, maybe don't stop that," I laughed lightly, letting my eyes slip close when I felt one of his hands move slowly to my thigh and up my skirt. I'm sort of glad I wore it now. My breathing hitched when his lips travelled to my slightly exposed collarbone and grazed it with his teeth as my fingers twisted themselves within the hem of his shirt.

He chuckled into my neck, "Eager, are we now?"

I rolled my eyes at him before he raised his arms up for me to pull the shirt off. When I got it off, I shoved him back on the bed before leaning down to his ear, "You want a distraction or not, MuΓ±oz?"

{author's note:: i'm low-key pissed because i wrote a lot of stuff in this chapter, but it didn't save, but it was more of a filler anyways. i hope you guys like it still, even though i don't because it's short and not what i wrote the first time which was my best work because i didn't stop writing it until i went to save and it didn't}
