โ€žCan you give me the pepper?"
A tired Canadian handed you the Sprinkler while munching on his scrambled eggs, seemingly in deep thoughts.

โ€žCanada it's fine,it's not that bad" You said, having to choke down a laugh while Canadas face began to get red, clearly embarrassed.

You had both woken up because of a loud thud coming from Canadas room ,and when he had frantically tried telling you that he definitely didn't fall from his bed, you just couldn't contain your laughter.

Canada seemed so embarrassed of himself the whole morning you just had to chuckle every now and then, much to Canadas dismay.

โ€žHey Canada did your brother tell you when he'd come here?" you asked, swallowing your food. He thought for a bit before answering
โ€žHe hasn't, but I think he'll come somewhere around noon, maybe afternoon"
You nodded in response. When Canada once again spoke.
โ€žWould you like to maybe," he hesitated but continued โ€žgo into the forest today? Maybe catch some fish in the nearby lake? It must be really boring staying in here all day.." he finished.

Fishing..? Whoa.. I haven't been fishing in a long time. But...

You smiled

It would be amazing to go fishing again

โ€žOf course I'd like to go! You know, I used to go fishing with-" you cut yourself off before continuing, a little quieter than before โ€ž -you know..my dad..." A sad smile formed on your lips. A few moments of silence filled the room before Canada nodded, understandingly.

After the dishes were clean and you had both packed what you needed, you started your little journey into the woods.

Canada said he knew a spot so you were now just walking alongside his much taller figure , chatting about all the fish you could catch.

The trail you were now taking was not the one you had used to get to the house. This one was on the backside of the cabin. It was small but enough to fit 2 people.

Right before you had left Canada put Americas, now dry and clean, shirt on the couch so he would find it in case he came to the house earlier than expected, what Canada hoped would happen so they wouldn't run into him by accident.

โ€žI catched lots of fish before, like trouts, pikes,Blue gills, and many more. I can't even name them all" He responded to a question you asked him, laughing at the last part.

โ€žWhoa! That's so cool!" You said amazed, โ€žI've only ever catched trouts and Bass's. I have managed to catch a salmon before! But mostly with the help of my Dad" You chuckled.

The leaves were crunching under your shoes, but the ground got a bit softer as you walked deeper into the forest. You had now been walking for about 15 minutes but it had felt like much less. Time flew by quickly when Canada was around and you enjoyed his presence. Every second of it.

Canada pointed straight and announced that the lake would be behind a line of trees just little ahead of you, and after you had walked some more you had reached the lake he'd been talking about.

Rocks lined along the edges of the lake, perfect spots to sit and fish. It was beautiful, blue Cristal clear water shimmered in the sun that was coming through the tree crowns. You couldn't exactly see out too far though. Canada set down the beige duffel bag he brought along and pulled out two rods, handing one to you. The feeling of finally being able to do hold something familiar was overwhelming and you were feeling really excited to see what you'd catch. You were familiar with the equipment so you were done fairly quickly setting it up to which Canada complimented your skills.

The sharp edge of the hook almost cut you sometimes, but after putting some corn on it, and throwing it in the water with a *flop*, it didn't bother you anymore.

Canada threw his line out next to yours and even though the risk of the lines tangling was high, you let them be. He sat down on the rocks beside you. The weather was nice, but it was noticeable that it was becoming a bit colder.

Your hair swayed in the wind and the sun shone through the trees directly on to the rocks you were sitting on.

A leaf landed in the water and circles formed around it. What a beautiful day.
The lines were already out in the water and your Dad made sure to check if anything had taken the bait yet.

You were watching him from the camping chair, which was placed so the sun would shine on it. You had just turned seven and your Father decided to take you out to fish. It was the first time he had ever done that and so you were excited to see how it was like.

โ€žPapa?" You asked him with a energetic undertone.
He took a while to respond as he was watching the water intently, waiting for the slightest disturbance of the water surface.
โ€žYes Y/N? Are you hungry?" He asked standing up, ready to get you something out of the cooling box he had brought along.
You shook your head.Staring out at the beautiful lake with rocks at the edges. It looked magical. Like out of a fairy tale.
.
.
โ€žDo monsters exist?"

You remembered how just a week prior you had stayed up past bedtime and snuck into the living room where your parents were watching TV. You saw the disgusted and horrified look on their faces as the lady in the TV talked about something you couldn't understand.
โ€žWhat a monster!" You Heard your mother say, clearly disgusted and your father agreed soon after.

Your father was clearly taken aback by that sudden question but after a few seconds of silence he just sighed and told you what everyone had been telling you.

โ€žMonsters don't exist silly" he chuckled and handed you a granola bar he fished out of his pocket, while caressing your cheek with his thumb.

.
.
.
.

You reached up your hand to touch your cheek, wanting to feel the presence of your father once more, but nothing was there. You sighed, not knowing if you were sad or just disappointed. Or maybe both, or maybe none of these emotions at all?

โ€žAre you alright?" You flinched slightly, You had completely forgotten that you were here with Canada.
โ€žAh- Sorry about that. I tend to zone out sometimes"

Not completely the truth but at least I'm not lying...

Canada took that as an answer, when you noticed something and jumped to your feet running over to the fishing rods and taking yours into your hand. A quick movement with your hands and you felt the extra weight on the line.

โ€žI've got something!" You cheered with a pounding heart while Canada got the landing net ready. He reeled his line in to avoid it tangling with yours.

โ€žWHOA!" You almost tipped over.
โ€žIs it a big fish!?" Canada asked as excited as you to which you responded with a pant.
โ€žYep, quite heavy. And strong too!" You reeled the line in carefully and slow as to not loose the fish fighting against it. Every bad thought already forgotten.

After some tiring and exhausting minutes Canada was able to catch the fish with his net and pulled it out of the water.

โ€žWow it's huge!"
โ€žA pike! This is my first ever pike Canada!" You excitedly told him how happy and lucky you were. Canadas smile formed within seconds as to seeing you so happy when's sudden idea popped up in his head and he rushed over to the backpack he brought with him, snatching something out of it and going back to you.

You had removed the hook by now and the pike with its green markings and long slender body was still fighting and flopping around, but not so hard as before.

You held the fish with triumph. Canada placed something on a log not too far away and told you to crouch down as he did the same next to you.

โ€žSmile Y/N! I'm taking a picture, it's on countdown!" Your smile became wider as he told you that. You had something to remember this trip and it made you incredibly happy. Canada smiled and held one of his hands up showing the peace sign while you held the fish until a flash signalled that the picture had been taken.

โ€žOk phew, you can release the fish now" On command you put it back in the water and it quickly swam away into the depths of the lake.

โ€žWe'll have to wait until the picture develops but it should be done by tomorrow"
Canada told you, holding the paper the picture would be seen on later, still having that grin plastered on his face, and so had you.

Eventually you had gone back to fishing and even Canada caught some smaller fish like Blue gills.

Later that day you both packed up and made your way back to the cabin. On the way you noticed the forest had gone quiet.

โ€žIt's eerily quiet, don't you think?" You commented. To which Canada agreed, looking around to see what the cause of it was.
A sudden shiver ran down your back and you turned around at the sudden feeling of uneasiness, but nothing was there. Canada who had turned around at your sudden reaction reassured you that it must be a forest animal watching you, and you continued walking.

But you couldn't shake that feeling until you finally reached the cabin and went inside, only then did the feeling disappear.

You looked over at the couch and ,to your disappointment, The black shirt hadn't moved an inch.
โ€žCanada, your brothers shirt is still here..."

He let out a frustrated groan.
Great just great...

But before he could complain a knock on the door interrupted him.

Both of your eyes went wide as you looked at each other in horror!

โ€žOh shit..." he muttered under his breath while motioning for you to go upstairs. You tiptoed to the stairs and quietly went up to the second floor, carefully avoiding the creaky steps.

Once upstairs you heard Canada greeting someone at the door, you heard the same voice you heard the day before entering the house.

โ€žWhere even we're you Yesterday?" he said and Canada responded by saying that he went to get wood.
โ€žAnd my shirt?"
โ€žOn the couch, let me get it for you" Canada was nervous and couldn't help but shudder at every word coming out of his mouth.
โ€žDude you good? Are you like sick or something?" The man asked as Canada was already at the couch grabbing the shirt.
โ€žN-no why'd you think that haha...?" Canada Voice was stuttering. He was a horrible liar and America immediately noticed that his brother was hiding something from him.

A sudden smirk formed on his face when he noticed the duffel bag containing two rods, rather than normally one, on the floor.
"Do you have a secret girlfriend or something like that?" He asked to which Canadas face became redder than a tomato. Just the thought of having one was weird to him.
"W-what!? No no it's not that, it's -its, ugh," he shoved the shirt into America's arms, "ok I caught a fever.."

You almost laughed put quickly put a hand in front of your mouth.
You definitely had to joke about that with Canada later.

The worst liar ever! Good title, I'll call him that when I go back down!

You mentally laughed to yourself.

Shortly after you heard the front door shut and tires driving away on the dirt and pebble stone road.

You stepped down the stairs not being able to contain your laughter anymore.

"YOUR- HAHA, THE WORST LIAR EVER!"
"You heard us!?" An embarrassed Canada said and you nodded.

You made jokes about that for the rest of the afternoon but Canada somehow convinced you to rather talk about what to make for dinner.

"What about Mac&Cheese?" You suggested to which Canada looked at you with a grin.
"You sound like my brother, he LOVES Mac&Cheese. But who am I to talk, I like it too" he chuckled.

So Mac&Cheese it was. It was done quickly and after dinner you both chilled on the couch, skipping through channels on the Television, stopping after you discovered a cool show.

The day drained and exhausted you, you hadn't realised how tired you were and you certainly didn't realise that your eyes were slowly closing, and the dark took you in.

Canada didn't expect the sudden weight on his shoulder, but when he saw it was you, resting your head against it, he didn't try to protest and just let it happen so to not wake you up. It had been a long day after all and soon after Canada was sleeping himself. The TV was still playing in the background but all noises were drowned as you both slept comfortably and peacefully in each other's presence.
