"What are you doing?"

"Uh... resting?" Xiaoting rolled on her bed so she can face the standing Hikaru by the door. "Where are you going? Why are you dressed like that?"

"Your ex is coming home today, aren't you going?" Xiaoting shook her head then rolled back to lay on her front.

"I'm sure fansites will be there, you know I'm not a confirmed member yet" it's only been a month and a half since Y/n went to promote. Xiaoting and her new group are still in the process of debuting, the company was still clearing things with the issue.

"You can stay in the car, come on"

"I thought you don't want me to be around your mother anymore? What's with the change, Hikaru?"

"You don't want to get back with Y/n unnie anymore?"

"I want to"

"Then come on!"

The two went to their agency first to notify the manager then rode the Kyungsoo's car with him to Incheon. Although one or two fansites saw a glimpse of Xiaoting in the car, they didn't dare to release pictures of her going with Hikaru. The two said fansites were Y/n's only ones (She only got 2 Korean Fan Sites), and Y/n clearly told her fans not to bring up Xiaoting because the international fans were acting weird whenever the two of them interact. The Chinese fans were the most acceptable fans of the friendship, followed by Korean and Japanese fans. The international fans, mostly Xiaoting's, don't want them together (as Y/n received hate on her Twitter before).

"Hi~ ooh, Hi to you two... Xiaoting unnie came..." Kotone teasingly said that made Y/n lift up her head, meeting Xiaoting's eyes. She was wearing a cap so she didn't notice it at first. Oh, and the cap was Xiaoting's, Y/n is never really into caps but after a month of missing her ex, she wore Xiaoting's that she packed just in case she needed one.

"Hi, girls. Welcome back!" Kyungsoo greeted. Ruan immediately ran to the shotgun and closed the doors even before Y/n could get in. Y/n was planning to sit in front so she could ignore Xiaoting but Ruan noticed it and made a move quickly. "Oops, I'm first here" Ruan stuck her tongue out which made Y/n pout. "Get in, unnie!" Hikaru shouted from the backseat.

The car was almost full, the only seat left was beside Xiaoting because the girl was sitting behind the driver's seat. Y/n got no choice but to seat beside her ex, there's a huge space between them tho.

"Where's Manager Lee?" Oh, the manager... she got no place to sit.

"I arranged their bags, the trunk is now full... still have 2 bags left, boss... oh, I don't think all of us will fit inside the vehicle..." Manager Lee shook her head. "I think I should hire a cab instead"

"Take me with you-"

"No Y/n, we're heading straight to the Company. For manager Lee, you can call our driver nearby... we have one, remember? And you can go straight back home to the group's house... have a safe ride!" Kyungsoo started driving the car away from the airport.

The atmosphere was awkwardly silent. The people at the back were staring at the two figures sitting in the same row in front of them. There was like a half-meter gap between them.

"How's Japan, Y/n-unnie?" Asked Hikaru. "Did you make a lot of friends there?"

"Not that many, only Rimika, Aki and Nako. I talked to a lot though" Y/n smilingly replied, looking at Hikaru who's peeking her head in between the gap of Xiaoting and Y/n's distance. "Aki-chan? You're the same age as her, right?" Xiaoting's ears largen. She remembered something Y/n told her before:

"If I date, I want someone who's my age"

"Is she cute?"

"She is" Hikaru was internally laughing as she saw Xiaoting bit her lip through the rear mirror. "But you're cuter Hikaru, don't worry" Y/n patted Hikaru's head. "I'm not worried," She chuckled. "Ask Xiaoting unnie, she looks worried" Xiaoting turned to her all of the sudden, looking offensive. "I'm not! What are you talking about, Hikaru?!"

"Why are you shouting, Xiaoting unnie? You do look worried. Look at yourself in the mirror. And you sound offensive," The J-Line members laughed with Hikaru while Y/n looked out of the window to avoid laughing with them. Her voice tone also is on the other note, "she's lying" Y/n smiled secretly. It's okay if she misses Y/n because the other girl does miss her too. She can't just say it to her because the other members are in the same car. "What's going on?" Oh, and Kyungsoo, who's unaware of the relationship, was also there.

"Ah, nothing sunbaenim... it's just these two-" Y/n and Xiaoting covered Hikaru's mouth at the same time that made the both of them touch hands after for so long. They both retreated it at the same time as well and got all flustered.

"What was that, Hikaru?" Kyungsoo asked.

"Ah, nothing, sunbaenim... it's just me and Xiaoting unnie teasing each other" Hikaru fakely chuckled as she stared back at Y/n who was giving her a death glare.

"Teasing about what?"

"Uh... you know, sunbaenim... it's dangerous if you talk while you're driving, you should always focus on the road... and, uhm... we're running out of gas" Kyungsoo looked at the dashboard and Hikaru was right about it. "Oh, thanks for reminding me, Hikaru... we're running out of gas... expensive gas" Kyungsoo clicked his tongue, looking outside to find a gasoline station. "You saved the day, Hikaru" She clapped for herself then sat back down in her seat.

"Ooh, Y/n unnie! Red Velvet!" Y/n shot her eyes open and glimpsed outside of the window. "Where?!"

"On your phone! Their new song!"

"Aiya~ I forgot about today!" It was Red Velvet's comeback day today! Y/n fished for her phone but she left it in her luggage. "Oh no, I left my phone in the bags" Y/n facepalmed. "I got you" Hikaru took out hers then went to the streaming platform right away. "Let's not watch the video, let's listen first" Y/n instructed so Hikaru went to Melon Music App.

After the first chorus, Y/n was completely jamming, memorizing the chorus fast. She can memorize things in just one take. "Red Velvet's music never disappoints" Y/n praised while clapping her hands. "You can pass as Suho's daughter," Kyungsoo told her.

"I think In My Dreams will sound good, play that next" Manami pointed to the last song in the album. "I think so too... the title already sounds ballad-ish" Kotone stated. Hikaru didn't hesitate and played In My Dreams next.

"Omo... this is probably my favorite song this album..." Ruan bobbed her head as the beat starts to hit in the chorus. "The Vocals... THE VOCALS!" Hikaru exclaimed. Xiaoting was silently listening on the corner, not a big fan but appreciates their music. She was slowly dissolving the lyrics in her mind.

"Even though I know it, I still love you~" Y/n then sang in the second chorus. Xiaoting glanced at her. Was it intentional that Y/n only said that part and not the entire chorus? Xiaoting thought. She's sure Y/n still loves her but Y/n mouthing it unintentionally OR intentionally making her heart beat fast.

"You still love who?" Hikaru then butted in. "Me? Red Velvet's Irene" Y/n awkwardly chuckled then fake coughed. Xiaoting fixed her posture, feeling hot on her seat. Y/n noticed her movement the went to look at her in the rearview mirror. Xiaoting was smiling on the other side of her face.

"Sunbaenim, when are you going to get married?" Hikaru out of nowhere-ly asked Kyungsoo. Hikaru was again teasing Y/n and Xiaoting with the words "married"

"Soon... why did you ask, Hikaru? I'll invite the group, of course"

"Can you have Y/n unnie sing there?"

"Of course, if you want the whole group, you guys can sing there too... and there's a flower throwing thing, right? Please don't catch it" The people in the car laughed out at Kyungsoo's statement. "Ooh... I want Y/n unnie to catch that too!"

"Why? Does she have a partner already?" Kyungsoo asked which made all of them panic. The CEO must not know about them... who knows what will be his reaction...

"Of course, none! I just want her to get married first IN THE FUTURE in the group" Hikaru emphasized the words In the future. "And I hope she falls into the right person she'll get married with..."

"I will, Hikaru, I will" Y/n chuckled and again, patted her child's head.

Xiaoting's POV

After a short time at the company, I went back to our house to check the other members, even though they still hate me. The members who just arrived back didn't have to quarantine as instructed by the government to all returning passengers. As I reached the house, the Chinese members were unhappy to see me but the other remaining members, except Dayeon, welcomed me with a hug.

I went up straight to my bedroom and as I opened the door, Y/n was there- wait, Y/n? Oops! I went to the wrong room. I used to stay at Y/n's a lot.

"Sorry-"

"No, come in. Close the door" She told me. She was opening her window and in the other house right in front of ours was my previous room. It's kind of creepy to see the house empty.

I waited for her to talk but she didn't. She was just crouching in front of her dresser, organizing her clothes back. I think she went to Japan without a bag but she returned with 2 big pieces of luggage? She perhaps bought a whole clothing store there...

I was silently sitting on her bed, waiting for her to finish. It took her long enough until I got a call from someone. It's from Mashiro.

Third Person's POV

"Where are you and Hikaru? The manager is looking for you guys, come back as soon as possible. Have a safe trip!" Y/n heard the conversation and halted doing what she was doing earlier. She thought Xiaoting was staying in for the night so she made her wait.

"You're going home?" Y/n asked as she went to sit beside Xiaoting who scooted away a bit. "Hmm" Xiaoting hummed. "Why are you inching away? We're still good friends, remember?" Y/n scooted near her, their elbows touching.

"How are you? In your new group?" Y/n asked.

"Good... all of them talks comfortably with me... unlike some here..." Xiaoting silently talked. This isn't like her, Y/n thought. Xiaoting is a person who talks happily whenever she's in front of Y/n. She sounds sad now after their breakup.

"Sorry for Su Ruiqi, she was... protective, I guess... but everything will be fine one day" Y/n caressed Xiaoting's back which made the girl tense. Her heart starts beating fast again. "Don't be sad, I'm here" Y/n told her. "I'm not" Xiaoting fakely chuckled but it was too obvious to her ex.

"Then face me and smile" Xiaoting's eyes wander around. "Did she just asked me to do that?" She asked herself. "Hey, look at me" Y/n poked her cheeks.

"I am looking" Xiaoting turned to face her but their eye contact didn't last long after Xiaoting broke it. Her cheeks turning red as she met Y/n's gaze.

"Yah, why are you shy all of the sudden?" Y/n grabbed both of her faces then brought it up back. "Now, smile" Xiaoting felt more embarrassed, she held both of Y/n's hands and then took them down. "Why?"

"You shouldn't be sad, you should always be happy no matter what happens"

"No... I meant... why are you doing this to me? After breaking up with me?" Xiaoting was confused. Y/n was displaying she's fine for them to break up and then giving Xiaoting mixed signals. Her gesture was like when they were together but Y/n doesn't clearly say what is her real intention doing these things.

"Just because I broke up with, I'm not a friend anymore. We were always like this even before we got together. I can touch your face, make you smile, and everything. What's wrong with that?"

"Do you still love me?" Xiaoting boldly asked. "I know you were referring to me while you were singing earlier"

"Come on, Shen-"

"Answer me"

"I do love you... but as a friend at the moment. I'm not ready to take you back, Shen Xiaoting. Let's give each other time to reflect and change ourselves. Let's treat each other as a friend, not as lovers this time. Please" Y/n brought her hands back to Xiaoting's face. "Please smile. For your fans and everyone around you. They don't want you to be sad. I don't want you to be sad" Xiaoting doesn't know what to feel. She was so confused why Y/n is doing this.

"I can smile but not right now, not in front of you. I'm sorry. I still haven't gotten over you. I still look at you as my fiancee, Yang Y/n" Xiaoting shook her head then stood up. "I'll tell you when I'm ready"

"I'll be waiting" Y/n smiles as she watches Xiaoting walk out of her door. Her words have two meanings.

"I'll be waiting until you're ready" And "I'll be waiting until you're free again"
