Wild Dog 17

Blake lifted his fingers to the barrette in his hair for the sixth time since leaving his hotel to meet up with Sage. He was clearly good friends with Wyatt, so he didn't mind accepting his request to take him to an early lunch. Besides, he could use a chance to distract his poor mind. It had been really hard to sleep after seeing those... those...

I really wish I had taken a screenshot of those adorable ears!

He knew that a blush was likely permanently stuck on his face after how many times he'd thought up the end of their conversation, and the image that accompanied Wyatt's farewell, but he just couldn't help it.

Trying not to think about it made him think about it, and as he turned a corner into a crisp, cool breeze, his mind was already beginning to wander back to the man. The image was nearly at the forefront of his thoughts again when he abruptly ran into someone!

"I would say that we really need to stop meeting this way, but I honestly don't mind," came Sage's voice as the man's gloved hand gently caught him around the waist so that he didn't fumble backwards and possibly fall.

Once Blake was steady on his feet the man removed his hand and offered him a quiet, entertained chuckle with a smile almost as white as the snow beginning to fall from the sky.

"S-sorry for running into you again," Blake stuttered, bowing his head slightly even though he knew that Sage probably couldn't see it.

He heard another calm chuckle from the man in front of him before a hand moved into his line of sight.

"May I have the honors?"

Blinking down at the gloved hand, Blake glanced up at its owner, then back down before hesitantly setting his own within it. He wasn't a huge fan of touching people at the moment, but Sage seemed very low key, and he was also one of Wyatt's good friends.

And Wyatt respects him as another master.

That was actually the most important thing to him. Not only did Wyatt accept the man as a person, but he also knew and accepted how he treated people within their lifestyle community.

With a reassured smile, Blake allowed Sage to lead him across the street, then down the long sidewalk. They didn't hurry, but they also weren't walking slowly, either. The buildings were thankfully blocking most of the wind, so it was a pretty pleasant little stroll, too.

Blake glanced around as they walked, taking note of the many different stores lining either side of the block they were on.

"This is part of the downtown area," Sage provided as he tapped his cane on the sidewalk in front of them, the tempo of it leisurely and practiced.

He's using his pole a lot more now than he had before... maybe his vision is okay some days, but gets bad on others?

"Do you have any questions you'd like to ask while we're walking?" Sage offered, making Blake blush and look down.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare," he said awkwardly, earning a quiet hum from the man as he felt him give his fingers a gentle squeeze.

"I am completely blind," Sage said simply, making Blake frown as he looked up at the man staring slightly down at him.

But you were walking past people the other day without using your cane.

"Here we are," Sage said as they turned toward a doorway and he reached for the handle.

Holding it open for him, Blake stepped inside and was immediately met with the delicious scent of fresh-baked pastries.

"Two, please," Sage said as he walked up to the host stand.

The young man working it grabbed two menus and happily lead them to a table, then explained the specials for the day before leaving them to get their drink orders. It was hard not to just order a bunch of pastries, and funny enough, while Blake was going over the menu trying not to drool, their waiter appeared and Sage immediately pointed to four different pastries he wanted, then looked over at Blake with a grin.

"Which ones would you like? Get whatever you want, since we can always take the extras home," he said, making Blake purse his lips but nod as he quickly skimmed over the choices again, then settled with a cheese danish and apple turnover.

"Sounds good! I'll go get those for you, then come back for your main orders?" the guy said, earning a nod from Sage before hurrying off.

Thankfully, he at least knew what he wanted to order, so when the young guy came back with two large plates of pastries and set them in front of them, Blake waited his turn as Sage ordered a meal of bacon, eggs, french toast, and potatoes, before giving his own order of eggs benedict and toast. It was close to lunch time, but the place had quite an extensive breakfast menu and he couldn't remember the last time he'd had a good eggs benedict, so he had to try it.

He normally didn't like possibly spoiling his appetite with appetizers before a meal, but there was no way that he was going to be able to not devour at least one of the treats he'd ordered before their food got there. So, after much planning, and staring, he decided to go for the danish and save the turnover for a snack later.

He'd honestly never had a fresh one, either. His only memory of such things were from vending machines, so when he finally lifted the warm folded dough to his mouth, he couldn't believe how incredible it tasted!

Is this really what they're supposed to taste like? Those vending machine ones are garbage compared to this heaven.

They both ate in silence, each clearly enjoying their delicious food as other patrons filled the silence around them. They were just finishing their first pastry when their food came out and was set in front of them. Once the waiter made sure that they didn't need anything else, they got busy on their main course, again remaining silent as they enjoyed their meal.

It was honestly quite odd not to feel like he had to fill the silence. Not that it was actually quiet in there, at all, but he didn't feel a need to make small talk while they ate, and honestly, he'd always found such a thing to be a little rude. Sure, talking here and there was fine if you were just nibbling on something after having already eaten the majority of your meal like when he'd gone out with Wyatt and Ravi, but when both you and your partner are hungry and wanting to eat, talking isn't necessary right away.

Thus, they both dug into their meals, and Blake quickly realized that he needed to come back to the little restaurant quite often in the near future. Everything was absolutely delicious. He didn't even realize he was finishing his last bite of food until he went back for more and frowned at the completely empty plate.

Licking his lips in slight embarrassment, he gently set his fork down, then glanced sideways at his remaining apple turnover. He knew that he didn't need it, because he was honestly rather full, but the food was just so darn good that he had to hold his hands in his lap to keep from reaching for it.

"Want to help me finish half of my turnover?" Sage asked with a hint of humor to his words as he nudged the little plate it sat on to the middle of the table.

He'd watched him cut it with a knife earlier, probably in anticipation of possibly not being able to finish the whole thing after his own huge meal. Blake considered it for a few moments before giving in with a small smile and reaching over to take it.

"Absolutely, thank you," he said before biting into the delicious treat.

To his surprise, it wasn't overly sweet like the ones he was used to, but that didn't mean that it was lacking flavor in any way.

So good!

"You're adorable."

Hearing Sage's compliment made Blake pause in his chewing of the last bit of pastry. Then he realized that he'd actually just devoured the thing in less than two minutes!

Embarrassing...

Sage nonchalantly crossed one arm on the edge of the table and leaned forward the slightest bit, a warm smile on his face.

"I apologize if I'm too forward. Please feel free to tell me whenever I say something that makes you uncomfortable," he added, making Blake slowly nod, then remember that the guy couldn't see it.

"Yes sir," Blake replied, then felt his face warm.

Sage tilted his head slightly at hearing that sir word, making Blake want to press a hand over his face to hide.

"I don't mind if you address me like that. In fact, I like hearing that word come from your mouth," Sage said, making Blake's face heat further.

He really is extremely straightforward.

He didn't mind, though it would take some time to get used to.

"Um, could I ask you something kind of personal?" Blake said nervously.

He honestly didn't know the man at all, but since he was good friends with Wyatt, he kind of wanted to know more about him.

"Of course," Sage replied with clear interest.

Blake swallowed down his nervousness and licked his lips.

"Can I see your eyes?"

He really hoped that the question wasn't considered rude. It was just that he was super curious since he'd only see the guy with sunglasses on so far.

To his relief, Sage's smile widened as he lifted his hand and nonchalantly removed his sunglasses. His eyes remained closed until he lowered the item to the table, then, ever so slowly, they opened.

Oh wow, they're gorgeous.

"Thank you," Sage replied, making Blake immediately purse his lips as he realized that he'd let his telepathic ability slip again. The guy had heard his thought.

"That's a very interesting ability you've got there, sweetheart," Sage said, making Blake's heart stumble a bit in his chest as he looked down at his hands in his lap for a moment before forcing his attention back up to the other man's face.

"I'm sorry, I don't usually have so much trouble controlling it," Blake said awkwardly, wanting to simply whisper and mumble the words, but feeling that doing such a thing was not be appropriate, so he spoke clearly.

Sage didn't seem bothered by the slip up at all, in fact, he looked intrigued as he moved his hand away from his sunglasses, allowing Blake to stare at his beautiful light blue eyes to his heart's content.

"I don't mind. Talk to me whichever way you wish. I like hearing your voice, both audibly and inside of my own mind," he said, then leaned back a little to settle against the back of the booth.

"Would it be alright if I asked you a personal question now?"

Blake hurried to sit up straighter and nod as he replied with a hurried "of course!"

Sage chuckled at his enthusiasm, then tilted his head slightly as he spoke.

"What is your relationship with master Wyatt?"

Blake froze as his mind processed the man's question. It was the same one that he'd asked himself several times since leaving Kansas. Of course, the answer was obvious, and it was that there was no relationship, but even as he went over the question in his head again and again, he couldn't make his mouth confirm the fact out loud.

"May I change the question?" Sage asked abruptly, snapping Blake out of his depressing thoughts.

"O-of course," he said quickly, glad that the man wanted to ask something else.

Sage waited a few moments before speaking, clearly going through his thoughts and taking his next words seriously. It was something he'd noticed Wyatt do sometimes, too. It wasn't too odd, though, since dominants words generally held quite a bit of weight. It was only logical that they'd be careful with what they said.

When he finally seemed to decide exactly what he wanted to say, Sage offered him a more serious grin, then leaned forward onto one arm as his bangs gently swished in front of his beautiful eyes.

"Would you consider accepting me as a master?"

Blake felt his mouth suddenly go dry. He had not expected the guy to be that straightforward! Instead of sputtering out whatever came to his mind first, which would have likely been a request to abstain from such questions for a while, since he hadn't even gotten settled yet, but instead, he bit his tongue and forced himself to think through the man's request seriously.

He really hadn't planned on even going to look at the local BDSM clubs until he had a house and was comfortable with his new life, but then to just be asked if he wanted a master so abruptly?

Wait a minute...

Looking up, he replied, "but you don't live in this area."

He remembered that Sage actually lived back in Kansas  and was just visiting family.

He lives in the same area as Wyatt.

"Distance can be overcome," Sage said without an ounce of hesitation.

Blake's fingers fidgeted with each other in his lap.

"True..." he said after a few more moments.

He remained silent for a bit longer after saying that one word, glad that Sage was letting him think about what he said as long as he wanted to. As he got toward the end of his consideration, Blake actually felt relieved when he looked back up to meet Sage's calm eyes.

"I don't think I'd be able to be away from my person for any extended period of time, though. Especially not if I decide to accept one right now. It's hard enough not being able to be around Wyatt, and I'd only been with him as a friend, and only for a few days, at that," he said, then realized that he was talking about another dominant when one was sitting directly across from him, asking if he'd like to be his sub.

He's straightforward, but you shouldn't have been that straightforward!

Instead of seeming annoyed that he'd talked about another dominant right in front of him, and as a response to such an important question, he was actually smiling a little wider and the edges of his eyes crinkled the slightest bit with humor.

"There it is," he finally said, making Blake tilt his head in confusion.

"What, sir?" he questioned, not understanding at all.

Sage took out his phone from where it had stayed in his pocket during their entire meal, and after tapping a few spots on the screen, he set it on the table facing Blake, then nudged it closer.

"I know he's still being stubborn and has probably told you that he's not ready for another sub, but I could hear right through that nonsense when he was talking to you over the phone the other day. And I think you already know what Wyatt is to you, sweetheart," Sage replied as Blake leaned forward to look at what he was trying to show him.

He immediately leaned back against his seat with a blush warming his face as Sage chuckled quietly and withdrew his phone. On the screen had been a picture of two very handsome men in bathing suits at the beach... shirtless. The ocean had been behind them with a tiny hint of sand near the bottom of the photo. Sage had one hand on Wyatt's head and was messing his hair up jokingly as the other guy tried to stand properly for the photo, but eventually ended up with his head bowed forward and his mouth parting in the beginnings of a laugh as his buddy was all smiles.

"Let me rephrase my words a bit. I'm not interested in keeping you away from him. I might be blind, but I can read situations extremely well and I'm one of his best friends... though I do feel like I am the best of those friends. I'm not sure why you have decided to come up here, or why you aren't running back to Wyatt because that guy is one fine, domineering piece of man, but I'd like to be part of your life, too. I'm not interested in stressing you out with this, though, so answer however and whenever you'd like. Take as little or as long as you want to think through my request. And if you decide that you don't want to consider me as a master, then I'd be more than happy being a new friend, instead."

He paused for a moment before adding one more thing as he lifted his sunglasses back up to cover his gorgeous eyes.

"And if you do decide to consider me as a possible master, I'm more than willing to share with Wyatt..."

Blake blinked once, then twice.
