nami.

**I do not own any of the characters from One Piece. Enjoy the story!!**

There had been this chilly breeze in my room, causing me to pull my blankets over my body. Although, I could feel this light shining on me as I lay in bed. There had been something soft that I had been hugging. I hugged it tighter, then opened my eyes to see that it was the teddy bear Luffy gave me for my seventeenth birthday. The bear's fur had been a golden brown with a red bow around its neck, as well as a tag attached to it. I forced myself out of bed and let go of the teddy bear.

I put on my grey slippers and let my orange hair cascade down my back. Slowly, I walked downstairs, where Zoro had been lying on the couch, watching TV, with Robin in the kitchen, making herself some coffee. Robin noticed me approaching the kitchen and shot me a smile.

"Goodmorning, Nami," Robin greeted, "Did you sleep well?" I nodded my head, then realizing that there had been this sharp pain at the back of my head. Robin saw me wincing and immediately pulled out some ibuprofen from the cabinet above her head. "You don't seem to be feeling well," Robin pointed out, "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, of course," I said, taking the ibuprofen pills from my raven-haired friend, "It's just a little headache, that's all." I smiled at Robin, trying to show that everything is okay. Although, the headache I had wasn't just a little one. It had hurt pretty bad. Had I gotten that drunk last night?

"Dammit, the TV isn't working!" Zoro complained, "Hey, witch! Come fix the damn TV."

"That's not how you speak to me in my damn house, idiot," I snapped, "Unless you want to pay me 5272.73 berries." I walked towards the green-headed dumbass as shot him an evil smirk. "So, pay up," I said, putting my hand out in front of me, gesturing that I wanted him to put money in my hand.

Zoro rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Sorry, witch. Can you please fix the damn TV?" Zoro put the remote in my hand instead of the money I had wanted, but I fixed it for him anyway.

After putting up with Zoro for an hour or two, I decided to finally take a shower and get ready for the day. I put on a cute brownish-orange sweater, along with jeans and brown boots with heels. I put my hair up and put on a silver necklace. Then, I had gone to the cafe to get myself some crepes, where I ran into a certain boy with a straw hat.

"Luffy?" I said, "What are you doing here-"

All of a sudden, a woman, who could've probably been a model, with long black hair and gold earrings, with a cute dress on ran towards Luffy and held onto his arm. It was Boa Hancock. It was like she had a complete glow-up, even though she had already looked like she was 25 back in high school.

"Luffy, darling," Hancock said, "Can we please leave this terrible place and go somewhere more... how do I say this... un-peasant like?" Luffy rolled his eyes and pulled his arm away from his soon-to-be wife.

"You can leave if you'd like, Hammock," he said, "I didn't necessarily ask for you to be here. I'm going to talk with Nami, okay?" Hancock rolled her eyes and walked away as she flipped her hair. Luffy sat down across from me at the table I had been sitting at with a smile. Today, he had worn a white shirt, with jeans. Like always, he wore his straw hat on his head, and his hair had been messy.

"Sorry about her," Luffy apologized, "She's such a pain in the ass. Seriously."

Well, you're going to have to get used to it for the rest of your life, Luffy, I thought. I giggled a bit, causing Luffy to laugh, too. Hearing his laugh and seeing his smile sent butterflies soaring through my stomach. You have no clue how much I've missed him. Dammit, I need to stop this. I'm dating Oliver now. There's no way anything can happen with Luffy and me, especially if he's engaged to Hancock now.

Luffy looked down at my plate of half-eaten crepes and shot me an evil grin. "Are you finishing that?" he asked, gesturing his head towards my food.

I rolled my eyes and pushed my plate towards Luffy. "Have at it, you idiot," I laughed, "I'm expecting a payment though. That cost about 840.80 berries. Pay up." I held my hand out in front of me for the money that Luffy needed to give me. Luffy put his hand in his pocket, then laughed awkwardly.

"Shishishi, well, the funny thing is," Luffy said, "Um, I don't have my wallet with me. Whoops." Before I could say anything Luffy grabbed the plate and shoved the crepes on the plate into his mouth as fast as he could and chewed it up and swallowed.

"You better pay me later," I snapped, bonking him on the head.

"Ouch!" Luffy yelped, "Okay, okay! Damn." Luffy then put his plate down on the table and let out a huge burp. "Shishishi, excuse me," he laughed. Luffy's black eyes then stared deep into mine. As quickly as I could, I looked away, down at my lap, and fidgeted with my fingers.

"So, how was your trip out on the sea?"I asked Luffy, trying to spark some sort of conversation.

Luffy leaned back in his chair and sighed. "Great, actually," he said, "I miss it a lot. You should've come with, Nami. There were so many different islands that we visited, and we met so many different people, and creatures. I even brought something back for you." Luffy then put his hand in his pocket and pulled out this little gold necklace with a heart at the bottom. It had been really pretty and shiny. "This thing was expensive," Luffy said, "It was about 1924612.59 berries. I got this for you on the first island I had visited, and I always kept it just in case we saw each other again, and here we are. Can I put it on for you?"

Once again, I got all these butterflies in my stomach. I nodded my head. My face had probably been a big red tomato right now, but I couldn't really stop that from happening, now could I? Slowly, I got up from my seat and walked towards Luffy, who had stood up and got ready to put on the necklace. He took off the other one I had on and set it on the table as he put on the gold necklace he had gotten me.

"Okay, turn around," Luffy said. I turned around to see Luffy smiling at me. "It suits you, that's for sure," Luffy said. He then titled his head slightly to the right. "Why is your face so red? Are you hot or something?"

"No," I laughed, "I don't know why my face is red. Uh, thank you, Luffy. You didn't have to. Really. You should've given this to Hancock, not me." I sighed and sat down at the table across from Luffy. "But, thank you."

"But the thing is," Luffy laughed, "I bought it for you, not Hancock. So why would I give this to her?" I shrugged as I tucked a strand of loose pieces of hair behind my ear. I leaned down and grabbed my purse that had been sitting down by my feet and set it on my lap. "Oh, here," Luffy said, handing me the other necklace I had been wearing before he put the new one on me.

"Thank you," I thanked, placing the necklace into my purse, "Anyways, I think I'm going to get going. Maybe we can talk later." Luffy smiled and we both said our goodbyes. When I had stepped out of the cafe, I placed my hand on where the charm on the necklace had been and looked back. Hancock had already by attached to Luffy's arm when I had looked back. There had been a bit of jealousy inside of me, although I hate to admit it.

Suddenly, my phone started ringing. I picked it up to see that Nefertari Vivi had been calling me. I immediately answered, and said, "Hi, Vivi!"

"Nami!" Vivi said, "Are you busy at the moment?" Vivi and I had become close friends in the past couple of months. We had kind of fallen off after high school, but we recently bumped into each other at the mall a couple of months ago and started speaking with each other again.

"Well, no not anymore, I had just been at the cafe, but I just left," I explained, "Why?"

"Great!" Vivi said, "I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go get our nails done, and then Koza and I will be going out for dinner at the Baratie later tonight. Why don't you and Oliver come with us? It would be a double date, I guess you could say."

"Sure," I said, "There's nothing else I have planned. I'm sure Oliver would love to come to dinner with us. And if not, I could just skip out on it." I continued on speaking to Vivi, planning on meeting up at the nail salon in thirty minutes as I walked to my car.

----After Getting Nails Done----

When Vivi and I had finished at the nail salon, she had gone home and I had started driving off to Oliver's house to ask him about going to dinner. As soon as I had arrived at his house, he had already been pulling into his driveway, arriving from somewhere else. He had gotten out of his silver car after he pulled into the driveway and turned to face me.

"Why hello there, my beautiful girl," he greeted, "You like extraordinary today, like usual." Oliver held out his arms as he looked me up and down. Oliver had been wearing a navy green t-shirt with jeans, as well as sunglasses. He had been pretty hot, I have to admit it.

"You don't look too bad yourself," I laughed. Olly shot me a smile as I kissed his cheek. He then invited me into his huge house and we both walked to the living room where he put his arm around me and pulled me close to him as we sat down. "So, Vivi invited us to go out to dinner with her and Koza later tonight at the Baratie" I began, "Are you wanting to come with?"

"Sure," Olly said as he took off his sunglasses, "Why not?" Oliver then glanced down at my necklace that Luffy had given me earlier today. "Where'd you get that?" he asked me, gesturing his head towards it.

How was I supposed to tell him that Luffy gave it to me? Maybe I just don't? No, that's not the right thing to do. But I didn't do the right thing, and I lied. "I bought it," I lied, "Isn't it pretty?" Olly gave me a weird look. He could tell I was lying, couldn't he?

"Yeah," he said, "Anyway, I heard Luffy was in town, huh?" My heart completely dropped for a second. How the hell did he find out?!

"Well, yeah, I guess so," I laughed, "We hung out yesterday. Not alone, of course, but with Sanji and Zoro and Robin. You could've stopped by yesterday if you wanted." Olly shrugged and took his arm off from around me.

"Okay," he said, blowing a piece of hair that had been hanging in front of his eye out of his face. Olly then stood up as he yawned and stretched. "Well, until we go out to dinner, can I have some alone time? Just come pick me up."

I slowly got up from the soft, grey couch that had been sitting on and nodded my head. "Of course." I then stood up on my tippy toes and kissed Olly's cheek. "I'll see you later then."

As I exited Olly's house, I let out a huge sigh. The voice in the back of my head had been driving me crazy, saying Just end it with you two already. He's not the one. They wouldn't just shut up. I walked to my car and drove off from Olly's house back to my own home.

My house had been empty: No Robin, no Zoro, no nobody. The atmosphere had been strangely quiet. I put down my little purse on the coffee table and took a seat on my couch. There had been no noise in the house whatsoever. It felt nice. I slowly closed my eyes, hoping just to rest them a bit, but I easily fell asleep.

----2 hours later----

Knock.

Knock.

"Come in," I shouted as I opened my eyes, startled by the sound coming from my front door.

"The door is locked," someone said. I groaned and got up from the couch and unlocked the door. As I opened it, I had seen Vivi standing there. Her light blue hair had been pulled up in a ponytail. She had been wearing small, diamond earrings with a cute red dress on. Her hands were on her hips. Vivi had an angry expression on her face as well.

"Why haven't you been answering your phone?" Vivi asked, "I mean, we were going to go to dinner about two hours ago but that's going to have to wait I guess."

I facepalmed and sighed. "I'm so, so, so sorry, Vivi," I apologized, "I must've fallen asleep." Vivi took her hands off of her hips and pointed to my car.

"Koza is in my car right now," she said, "So go get into yours and get Oliver, okay?" I nodded my head and grabbed my purse from my couch and walked outside. When I had gotten into my car, I pulled down my mirror to see that my hair had been a complete, frizzy mess. I took it down from the braided bun and put my hair into a quick braid.

As quickly as I could, I drove off to Oliver's house and picked him up. Both Olly and I drove off to the Baratie as quickly as possible. When we had arrived, both Koza and Vivi brought us to a table, where Sanji had been in a fancy outfit. He had a cigarette in his mouth, and his hair had been covering his right eye.

"Hello, beautiful ladies," Sanji said, pulling out two chairs for both Vivi and me I. Us women had thanked him as the two men sat down in their chairs. He had let us all look at our menus for a bit, then asked, "What can I get for you today?"

"I'll have some Udon," I explained, "With sake, please." Sanji nodded his head in understatement and wrote something down on a little notebook.

"Same thing here," Vivi said with a smile. Once again, Sanji wrote something down in his tiny notebook.

Oliver set down his menu and looked up at Sanji. "May I have some Hitsumabushi?" he asked, "With some wine, please."

"I'll have wine with ramen," Koza said.

"Alright then," Sanji said, "I'll get your order as soon as possible." Sanj then turned around and walked away elegantly. I sat back in my seat and looked up at the ceiling. Honestly, I wish I had declined the offer of going out to dinner with Koza and Vivi. What I really wanted was to stay home and lay in my bed doing nothing.

Oliver and Koza and Vivi had all been talking away while I let thoughts run through my head. No one had bothered to ask if I was okay, which was alright with me. I'd rather stay quiet and be in my own little world right now.

Suddenly, I looked in front of me to see Vivi staring at the necklace I had on. "It's so pretty," she said, "Tell me, where'd you get it?!"

"Well Luffy he-"

Uh oh. Was I really about to say that?! In front of Oliver?! Oliver immediately turned his head to look at me. All of his attention had been turned towards me. I sighed and smiled at Vivi.

"Luffy had told me about this one store that had a lot of stuff that I would be interested in," I lied, "So I bought this necklace from there. There had actually been a lot of pretty jewelry there. It's kind of sad though: the shop is closing down next week. Of course, I had to buy something from there before it closed."

"Oh," Vivi said, "Can you show me this store before it closes?! Please?! That necklace is beautiful!" Oh god. Maybe I should've thought this through before I lied like that. Maybe I shouldn't be lying at all. Maybe I should've told Oliver that Luffy had given this to me.

"Well-"

"Here you go, beautiful ladies!" Sanji had come over with a tray that had two bowls of Udon and two glasses of Sake. He placed it on the table. Both Vivi and I grabbed our meals as quickly as we could and started digging in. "I'll get your guys' meal in a bit," Sanji said. He then started walking away.

Luckily, Vivi hadn't brought up the necklace again. I guess I wouldn't be lying my way out of this one much more, now would I?

After everyone had gotten their meal and finished it, I had got up from the table and took a walk around the restaurant. This had been the nicest restaurant I've been to in ages.

"Luffy, darling! Please, try being a bit more polite when you're eating." I turned around to see Hancock sitting at a table with Luffy, who had been shoving his face with ramen. I giggled a bit as I admired the idiot until he turned to look at me with a goofy smile.

"Nami!" Luffy laughed, waving at me. Hancock turned around and gave me a nasty look as she rolled her eyes. "Come here!" Luffy yelled. I looked back behind me where Oliver and Vivi and Koza had been. They hadn't even noticed I was gone, so it wouldn't be bad if I chatted with Luffy, right? When I had made up my mind, I walked towards Luffy and Hancock and pulled up a chair.

"What is she doing here?" Hancock asked. She made it sound like I was a pain in the ass as she said "she."

"I just came out to dinner with some friends," I explained, "Sorry if I ruined anything."

"You didn't, don't worry, Nami!" Luffy said. I smiled at him as he shoved more food into his mouth. Hancock huffed and crossed her arms.

Both Luffy and I talked and talked for a long time. Hancock had ended up leaving at one point, leaving both Luffy and me by ourselves. Oliver and Vivi and Koza even left, too. I allowed Oliver to take my car, but he'll be returning it soon. I guess that means Luffy will be taking me home.

Slowly, everyone else in the restaurant left. It hadn't necessarily closed yet, but it had been pretty empty. The moon and stars had already been out. Have Luffy and I been speaking for that long?

"Nami-Swannnnn," a certain swirly-eyebrowed chef sang, "Would you like any more sake, my beautiful angel?"

"Hey brat!" someone hollered. A tall man with a braided mustache along with one missing leg which is replaced with a peg, and a tall chef hat on and a chef outfit and yellow hair came stomping towards Sanji. That must be Zeff.

"What is it, you old geezer?" Sanji snapped, immediately changing the expression onto his face to an annoyed look.

"It's time to close up, you damn brat," Zeff sneered, "Get your friends outta here and help me clean this place up, you hear me?"

"I don't want to leave, though," Luffy pouted. Suddenly, Luffy then sat up in his chair with a smile and said, "Actually, nevermind. Come on, Nami! Oh, and, uh." Luffy pulled his wallet out of his pocket and pulled some money out and handed it to Sanji. "Here. Okay, come on, Nami!" Luffy grabbed my hand and practically dragged me out of the restaurant.

"Where are we going, Luffy?" I asked. Luffy just shushed me and we both got into his car. Luffy drove off as quickly as we could and refused to let me ask any questions whatsoever.

Finally, we stopped at some sort of dock by the sea. The moonlight had been shining onto the sea and the stars were sparkling in the sky. It had been a beautiful sight, and for some reason, it had looked more beautiful than ever. As Luffy and I exited the car, Luffy kicked off his shoes and ran into the sand. I did the same. The sand had been so soft and squishy beneath my feet. Luffy walked onto the dock with me behind him and sat down. He dangled his feet in the water, as so did I.

"Isn't this beautiful?" he asked me, "I mean, look!" Luffy put his arm around me and pulled me close to him, tightly, and pointed out to the sea.  I couldn't help but smile a bit, and move closer to Luffy in his arms.

"Yeah it is beautiful, isn't it?" I said, slowly closing my eyes. There had been this weird feeling in me that I haven't had for a long time. The feeling of true happiness with the person I cared about the most. The person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. As I sat there with my eyes closed, I felt Luffy's hand push a strand of hair out of my face, gently and tuck it behind my ear.\

"Just like you," I heard Luffy whisper. That immediately made me open my eyes and turn all of my attention towards him. His face turned a bright red, and he immediately pulled his arm away from me. "Wait, uh, I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine, Luffy," I laughed, "I promise not to tell if you pay me for the crepes you had at the cafe." I winked at Luffy, causing him to groan and roll his eyes.

"That's not fair," Luffy complained. I ruffled Luffy's hair with my hand and laughed.

"You idiot, I'm joking," I laughed. Luffy then laughed also. We both then stood up and searched for our shoes to put on. Luffy had driven me home, but the whole drive had been completely silent. It felt weird, but it just gave me more time to keep glancing back at him without him noticing.

When we arrived at my house, he helped me out and walked me to my doorstep. We both sat there staring into each other's eyes for a second. You have no clue how much I wanted to crash my lips into his once again, but I knew that wasn't right. I sighed and hugged Luffy while thanking him for driving me home.

I walked into my house, where Robin had a huge smirk on her face. Zoro hadn't been anywhere around, so I guess I had the freedom to have a girl talk with her.

"So, Luffy brought you home?" Robin giggled. I laughed and sat down next to her on the couch with a huge smile. "What happened? You seem pretty happy."

"Nothing really," I sighed, "We just, i don't know, sat down at the Baratie and talked for a while. Vivi and Koza and Oliver had been talking by themselves and I wasn't really in the conversation much. I decided to walk around and there was Luffy and Hancock. Hancock got annoyed with me and left while I sat down and talked to Luffy for hours. Oliver took my car and went back to his house and everyone else. Then it came to the point where only Luffy and I were in the restaurant. Then, he brought me to the sea, or dock, or beach? I don't really know. But we sat there and just stared out into the sea and he kind of side hugged me. At one point, after Luffy said, 'Isn't this beautiful?' and then I said, 'Yeah, it is beautiful, isn't it?' and he replied with, 'Just like you.' God, Robin, what I'm doing and thinking is so bad, isn't it? Why do I even still like this idiot?! It's been five years, Robin. FIVE. YEARS. I have a boyfriend and Luffy has a fiance, this isn't right."

Robin gently set her hand on my shoulder and shot me a shy smile. "Hey, calm down, Nami," she said, "Listen, I personally think you two are soulmates, fufufu. Maybe you can end things with Oliver. He'll understand. Try and help Luffy with Hancock."

"I can't," I sighed, "I couldn't. It's not like I don't have any feelings for Oliver."

Robin then raised one of her eyebrows and crossed her arms while giving me a look that said, Oh really? "Uh, huh," she said, "Well, then, I guess you're going to have to keep on dating Oliver and have the urge to stick your tongue into Luffy's mouth but not being able to do it-"

"Robin!" I snapped. I could feel my whole face turn into a giant, red tomato. "What the hell?! That's not something you'd say at all!" Robin then started laughing hysterically, almost falling off of the couch. "It's not that funny," I snapped.

"Right, right," Robin said, "Anyways. Would you like to take a bubble bath? I have this new soap that I tried earlier and it's really nice."

"Sure," I said, "Well then, you know where to find me." I then picked out some pajamas and walked into the bathroom and made my bubble bath. There had been fairy lights hanging in the bathroom so I could relax in a more darker atmosphere as I took my bubble bath.

As I slowly got in, I then relaxed and closed my eyes. All these thoughts ran through my head as I laid there. The moment of Luffy pulling me close to him replayed in my head over and over. It felt like old times again. I missed it so much. But, I don't know if things can ever go back to the way they were in high school with Luffy and me.
