Chapter 9

Blake smirked at Stiles as she watched his reaction.

Just then, Jackson came their way. Lydia stood up and met him.
"Okay. Did he do it?" she asked.

"He said not to make a habit of it, but one cortisone shot won't kill me," Jackson answered.

"You should get one right before the game too. The pros do it all the time," Lydia advised, getting all over Jackson. "You want to be a little high school amateur? Or do you want to go pro?"

And then they started kissing. Blake looked away and so did Stiles.

"Holy God!" Stiles exclaimed. Blake looked over at him in confusion. Scott must of crept up on him because Stiles had his hand over his heart.
"The scent was the same," Scott declared.
"You sure?" Stiles asked.
"Yes."

"So he did bury the other half of the body on his property," Stiles announced.
"Which means we have proof that he killed the girl," Scott added.
"I say we use it," Stiles suggested.
"How?"

"Tell me something first," Stiles said. "Are you doing this because you want to stop Derek, or because you want to play in the game, and he said you couldn't?"

"There are bite marks on the legs, Stiles," Scott answered. "Bite marks."
"Okay, then we're gonna need a shovel," Stiles announced.
"Why?" Blake asked nervously.

"You'll find out," Stiles replied.

"Why the hell are we at Derek Hale's house?!" Blake exclaimed.

"Because," Stiles said as if it werent obvious.

"Whatever," Blake sighed. "Just give me a shovel."

"Oh, I only brought two..." Stiles trailed off. "I thought that, you know, since you're a girl you would, uh, paint your nails or something."

Blake groaned. "I'll just sit in the jeep then."

She made her way towards Stiles' jeep and sat down in the passenger's seat with the door wide open. She watched the boys dig up the dirt of Derek Hale's property.

Blake sat in the car for a while before she started to worry.

"This is taking too long. What if he comes back?" Blake asked.

"Then we get the hell out of here," Stiles answered. They were a few feet down in the dirt.

"What if he catches us?" Scott queried.

"I have a plan for that," Stiles replied.
"Which is?" Scott urged.

"You run one way," Stiles answered pointing at Blake. "I run the other. Scott runs...in another direction. Whoever he catches first, too bad."

"Great plan," Blake exaggerated.

"I hate that plan," Scott agreed.

"You don't have to worry about being caught first," Blake explained. "You have your...super...reflex...speed."

"What?"
"Just shut up," Blake ordered.

"You're the one talking."
"Oh, stop, stop, stop," Stiles said.

"Sorry," she mumbled.

"No, no, no. Stop digging," Stiles corrected as he held his arm out to stop Scott from digging his shovel into the ground.

Blake stared down into the hole. Stiles had started digging with his hands and she could make out brown fabric.

The fabric was tied with rope which was knotted dozens of times.
Stiles tried to untie the knots but he was taking forever.
"Hurry," Scott demanded.

"I'm trying," Stiles defended. "Did he have to tie the thing in, like, 900 knots?"
"I'll do it," Scott said.

Scott untied the knots and pupled back the fabric. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped when Blake saw what was inside.

"What the hell is that?" Stiles exclaimed.
"A wolf," Blake answered.
"Yeah, I can see that," Stiles mumbled and then he turned to Scott. "I thought you said you smelled blood, as in human blood."
"I told you something was different," Scott replied.
"This doesn't make sense," Stiles added.

"Why does he have a wolf buried here?" Blake exclaimed. "Let's go before Derek comes back."

"Yeah. Okay, help me cover this up," Scott asked. But Stiles was concentrated on something else.

Blake followed his gaze and spotted a white flower sitting in the ground. Stiles stared at it strangely and Blake knew that this had something to do with his werewolf research.

"What's wrong?" Scott asked.
"Stiles?" Blake called.
"You see that flower?"
"We see the flower," she nodded.
"I think it's wolfsbane," Stiles stated.

"What's that?" Scott and Blake asked in unison.
"Uh - haven't you ever seen the Wolf Man?" Stiles questioned.
"Uhm, no," Blake answered.

"Lon Chaney Jr.? Claude Rains? The original, classic werewolf movie?"
"No! What?" Scott yelled.

"You are so unprepared for this," Stiles shook his head.

"And I was unprepared for this," Blake declared as she gestured to the big hole in the ground.

However, he ignored her. He climbed out of the hole and pulled the plant from the ground. But instead of a root at the bottom of the plant, there was a rope. Stiles pulled the rope from the ground, which seemed to be buried in a spiral.
He walked around the hole several times as he pulled the rope from the ground.

After a minute, Blake looked down at the hole again.
She stared in shock. And Scott seen it too.

"You see that, Stiles, don't you?" she asked.

"Yeah," Stiles answered. "I told you you'd be unprepared for this."

What used to be a wolf buried in the ground was now a body. A girl's body. It wasn't a whole body though, it was the upper half of the body, and something told Blake that it belonged to the other half of the body that was found out in the woods.

It was the next day. Stiles, Scott and Blake stood outside Derek Hale's house. The police were everywhere.

Derek was being dragged out of his house and he was forced into a police car. Blake got one glimpse of his face before he the police shoved him into the car.

She got a really bad feeling in her stomach just then. A feeling that she never wanted to feel again. She actually felt sorry for Derek. His whole family is dead, he lives in a house without a roof and now he's going to jail for something that Blake, Stiles and Scott turned him in for. And something even worse than that; something told her that it wasn't even him. But it was too late now.
Blake was brought back to reality when she saw Stiles slip past her.

"No. Oh God," Scott groaned.

"Where is he going?" Blake asked.

But before Scott could answer her question, Stiles slipped in to the front seat of the police car where Derek was being held.
"What is he doing?!" Blake exclaimed.
"Just let him do it," Scott mumbled.

After a few minutes, Blake's eyes landed on Sheriff Stilinski.
"He's gonna get caught," she stated.

And she was right. Sheriff Stilinski yanked Stiles out of the car and he did not look happy.

"There. Stand. What the hell do you think you're doing?" Sheriff Stilinski asked.

"I'm just trying to help," Stiles declared.
"Okay, well, how about you help me understand exactly how you came across this," Stiles' dad questioned.

"We were looking for Scott's inhaler," Stiles answered truthfully.
"Which he dropped when?"
"The other night," Stiles added.
"The other night when you and Blake were out here looking for the first half of the body."

"Yes," Stiles nodded.
"The night you told me you were both alone and Scott was at home," Sheriff Stilinski added.

"Yes. No. Oh, crap," Stiles groaned.
"So you lied to me."
"That depends on how you define lying," Stiles said.
"Well, I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?" The Sheriff answered.

"Mm, reclining your body in a horizontal position?"
"Oh my God, Stiles," Blake sighed.

"Get the hell out of here," Sheriff Stilinski demanded.

"Absolutely," Stiles said and then he was walking towards Scott and Blake.
"What did he say?" Scott asked as soon as Stiles was close to the twins.

"He definitely does not want you to play the game tomorrow," Stiles declared.
The more Blake thought about it, the more she realized that Derek is right.

What if Scott does shift on the field? No one is ever going to look at him the same again? How would her mom react? How would anyone react? And if Alison's dad is a werewolf hunter, then what would he do with Scott?
Maybe Derek Hale is right.

Maybe Derek has been right all along and they were denying him because of his past.

Is Blake starting to see through Derek?
