Chapter 22

While Jackson helped Lydia make a self-igniting Molotov cocktail, Blake sat down at one of the chemistry tables with Stiles beside her.

"I don't get this. I don't get why he's out there, and why he left us," Allison cried. "And I can't-I can't stop my hands from shaking."
"It's okay. It's okay," Jackson said, trying to calm down the girl. "It's gonna be okay."

"Jackson, you handed me the sulphuric acid, right?" Lydia questioned. "It has to be sulphuric acid. It won't ignite if it's not."

"I gave you exactly what you asked for tonight," Jackson hissed.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm sure you did," Lydia muttered.

Blake looked over at Stiles and he looked at her. They both had a weary look on their faces as they looked back over at Jackson. Something told Blake that he didn't give Lydia what she asked for.

After a minute of small talk between Stiles and Blake, she felt the ground beginning to shake.

Her eyes widened as Jackson fell to the ground. Everyone went to help him up.
"Are you okay?" Blake asked.

"No, I'm fine," Jackson muttered. "Like, seriously, I'm okay."
"That didn't sound okay at all," Allison stated.

"What's on the back of your neck?" Stiles questioned. It was then that Blake noticed the claw marks on Jackson's neck.

"I said I'm fine," Jackson snapped.

"It's been there for days," Lydia explained. "He won't tell me what happened."
"As if you actually care," Jackson retorted.

"All right, can we not argue for half a second here?" Stiles demanded.
"Where's Scott?" Allison asked. "He should be back by now."

"He'll be fine," Blake sighed. She was getting slightly annoyed at Allison's constant crying about Scott.

"Scott! Scott!" Allison yelled. Blake turned to look at her as her eyes were focused on the door.
"Where's he going?" Lydia asked.
"Scott. Scott! Scott! Scott!"

"Stop, stop!" Lydia ordered. "Do you hear that? Listen."
Blake listened carefully and she sighed in relief when she heard the police sirens.

But then Blake began to worry. Where was Alec?

"You sure it was Derek Hale?" Sheriff Stilinski asked.
"Yes," Scott nodded.
"I saw him too," Stiles agreed.
"What about the janitor?" Scott questioned.
"We're still looking," the sheriff explained.
"Did you check under the bleachers? Under them?"
"Yeah, Scott, we looked. We pulled them out just like you asked, there's nothing."

"I'm not making this up," Scott declared.
"I know," the sheriff stated. "I believe you, I do."
"No, you don't. You have this look like you feel bad for me. Like you wanna believe me, but I know you don't," Scott argued.
"Listen," Sheriff Stilinski sighed. "We're gonna search this whole school. We're gonna find him. Okay? I promise."
"Sheriff!"

"Stay. All of you," the sheriff ordered after making his way towards the deputy that called his name.

"Well, we survived, dude. You know? We outlasted the alpha. It's still good, right?" Stiles wondered. "Being alive?"
"When we were in the chemistry room, he walked right by us. You don't think that it heard us? You don't think it knew exactly where we were?"
"Well, then how come we're still alive?"
"It wants me in its pack," Scott announced. "But I think, first-I have to get rid of my old pack."

"What do you mean? What old pack?" Stiles and Blake asked in unison.
"Allison. Jackson, Lydia. You," Scott began as he looked at his Stiles and then his sister. "And you."

There were so many things going through Blake's mind. She was part of Scott's pack. But the alpha wants to get rid of them? Is Derek dead? Where the hell was Alec?

"The alpha doesn't want to kill us," Stiles muttered.
"It wants me to do it. And that's not even the worst part," Scott said.
"How in holy hell is that not the worst part, Scott?"
"Because when he made me shift," Scott began. "I wanted to do it. I wanted to kill you. All of you."

"Blake!"

Blake glanced around her and let out a breath as she saw Alec getting out of his car.

"Where were you?" Blake questioned as she enveloped him in a hug. "I was so worried!"

"You were worried?" Alec exclaimed. "You phoned me in the middle of the night, asking me to come to the school. And when I arrive the whole place is crawling with police officers. Who the hell does that?"
"I'm sorry," Blake mumbled, pulling away.
"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Blake nodded.

"So, uh, do you still need a ride? Because I'm pretty sure one of these police cars can take you home?"

"Blake, honey, wake up."

Blake rolled over in her bed and opened her eyes, only to come face to face with her mom.

Blake groaned as she realized that today was Monday and that meant school.
"You can take a day off if you're not ready," her mom offered.
Blake's mom had been a bit over protective ever since the incident in the school.

"I'm going to school, mom," Blake groaned.
"That is the first time I've ever heard you say that you actually want to go school," her mom grinned.

"I still hate school, though," Blake groaned.
"Go and get ready," Melissa ordered as she left her daughter's room.
Blake's mom was starting to worry about her daughter's well-being. First the attack at the video rental store, and now both her son and daughter were involved in the attack at school.

Blake sighed before getting up. She showered and got dressed. She threw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and then her white trainers which weren't really white anymore.

After getting ready, she waited for Scott downstairs. When Scott came home last night, he went straight to Blake's room. He told her about Allison and Blake felt horrible. Scott really liked this girl and the only reason that she broke up with him was because Scott wouldn't be honest with her. The only problem is, that Scott can't tell her the truth. If he did, he would expose himself, Derek, and every other werewolf in Beacon Hills, as well as sounding ten times as crazy than he already is.

"Bye, mom!" Scott yelled, joining Blake out in the hallway.
"Bye, guys!" She yelled back. Blake mumbled a 'bye' before opening the door and leading Scott to the car.

On the drive to school, Scott and Blake made small talk. It wasn't about what happened the last night. They would mostly talk about Scott and Allison and how they would fix his problem.

"That sucks," Blake stated.

"Yeah," Scott sighed. "It does."

"Hey, don't worry about it," Blake smiled. "It's her loss."

After arriving at school, Blake hung out with Alec until class started.

"Let's go!" Coach yelled at the boys. "Next! Perfect!"

All the boys were lined up and were taking shots at the goalie.
Alec and Blake were sitting on the bleachers as they watched the boys practice. Alec and Blake were supposed to be studying but Stiles had told her that he was first line and because Blake was happy for him, she told him that she would watch him at practice today.

"Why didn't you ever play lacrosse?" Blake asked Alec who just shrugged.
"Wasn't interested. Besides, my mom would go crazy if she found out that I was doing anything other than studying," Alec answered with a hint of sarcasm.

"When is your dad back home?"

"The end of this week," Alec replied. "Hopefully."
"Are you coming to the game on Wednesday?" Blake asked hopefully.
"I don't know, my mom's not going."

"Oh come on, it's the Quarter Finals," she added.
"I'll see what I can do," Alec laughed.

Blake glanced down at the field and her eyes landed on Scott who looked really angry. He got ready to do the drill and when he did, he knocked down two players and hit Danny. Blake's eyes widened as Danny fell to the ground.
She rushed down onto the field with Alec hot on her heels.

"Dude, what the hell are you doing?" Stiles asked as Blake joined him and Scott. She looked over at Danny and noticed that everyone had gathered around him.

"He's twice the size of me!" Scott defended.
"Yeah, but everybody likes Danny," Stiles explained. "Now everybody's going to hate you."

"I don't care," Scott mumbled.
"Well, you should," Blake shot. "You can't go around hurting people just because tonight's the full moon, Scott."
"I know, I know," he mumbled.
"Is he okay?" Lydia Martin asked.
"It looks like he just has a bloody nose-"
"What?"

Jackson stared at Lydia.
"Your lipstick," he stated.

"Oh, oh, wonder how that happened," Lydia smiled innocently.
"Yeah, I wonder," Jackson muttered.
Blake looked at Stiles who was looking at Scott and then everything came together.

Scott had made out with Lydia.
"I can't believe you would do that, Scott," Blake declared as she dragged Alec off of the field.

Blake really hoped that Scott was only acting this way because of the full moon, because she didn't know how much she could put up with.

What's wrong with Jackson?
