Chapter 20

Scott had dragged Blake back to school after school ended. Who does that!? No one.

Scott, Stiles and Blake stood outside in the school parking lot.
"This is a terrible idea," Stiles stated.
"Agreed!" Blake added.

"Yeah, I know," Scott agreed.
"If we are all thinking the same thing, then why are we still here?!" she exclaimed.

"Can you think of something better?" Scott questioned.
"Actually, yes, I can," Blake answered. "Sleeping, watching a movie, eating popcorn, doing homework!"

"Well, personally, I'm a fan of ignoring a problem until eventually it just goes away," Stiles declared.
"Just make sure we can get inside," Scott ordered as Stiles pulled a pair of bolt cutters from his jeep. "He's here."

Blake noticed Derek's car pull in behind her.
"Where's my boss?" Scott asked as Derek got out of the car. Earlier, Derek had knocked Deaton out at the animal clinic.
"He's in the back," Derek answered.

"Oh, well," Scott mumbled, looking into the backseat of Derek's car. "He looks comfortable."

Scott followed Stiles towards the school while Blake stayed where she was. She was nominated to stay behind with Derek because he wasn't trusted.
"Wait, hey!" Derek called. "What are you doing?"

"You said I was linked with the Alpha," Scott declared. "I'm gonna go see if you're right."

Derek huffed before watching the two teenage boys run towards the school.
Blake leaned against Stiles' jeep and her eyes glanced on Derek's car.

"Can I -"

"No."

"How did you even know what I was going to say?" Blake exclaimed.
"Because I can sense what your feeling," Derek explained. Blake furrowed her eyebrows. She still didn't know how he could tell what she was going to say.
"What was I going to say then?" Blake challenged. Derek raised his eyebrow at her.

"You were going to ask me if you could drive my car."
Blake groaned. "Why not?"

"Because," Derek replied. "The only person that drives Derek Hale's car is Derek Hale."

Blake smirked and Derek frowned as he noticed the girl's expression. "What?"

"I have the exact same motto," Blake announced. "And guess what?"

"What?" Derek shrugged.

"You drove my car," Blake reminded. Derek smirked as he knew that the girl was right.

"You're still not driving my car," Derek declared with a dead expression on his face.

"Fine," Blake sighed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I'm sorry," Blake muttered.

"For what?" Derek asked, confused by what was talking about.
"For thinking that you killed your sister," she explained. Derek remained silent.
"And I want to say thank you for helping Scott," Blake added. "Even after we sent you to jail."

"I'm not helping Scott," Derek argued. "I'm making sure he doesn't expose me and the rest of the supernatural world."

Blake pursed her lips. "And I thought you were being nice." She crossed her arms over chest and looked over at the school wondering what was taking her brother so long. "What happens if the Alpha doesn't sh-"
Blake turned back to Derek only to see him staring back at her.
"Derek?" Blake began to feel uncomfortable, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

"Derek?"

Derek's shook his head. "What?"

"You were staring," Blake mumbled.

The ground beneath Blake's feet began to shake and a loud roar erupted from inside the school.

"What have they done?" Derek hissed.
"I have no idea but it sounded awesome," Blake answered as she spotted Scott and Stiles approaching them.

"I'm gonna kill both of you," Derek stated. "What the hell was that? What are you trying to do, attract the entire state to the school?"

"Sorry, I didn't know it would be that loud," Scott smiled to himself.
"Yeah, it was loud," Stiles agreed. "And awesome!"
"Shut up," Derek shot.

"Don't be such a sour wolf," Stiles teased.
"What did you do with him?" Scott asked, noticing that his boss was no longer in the back of Derek's car.

"Where is he?" Blake questioned.

"What? I didn't do anything," Derek defended.

The car door was open and Deaton was nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly, a huge claw came out of nowhere and pierced itself through Derek's chest, lifting him off of the ground.
Blake's eyes widened.

Blood came gurgling from Derek's mouth. The creature threw Derek's body towards the school. Derek's body hit the wall before falling on to the ground.

"Blake!"

Blake had zoned out. The voice sounded distant. Someone was shaking her shoulders.
"Blake!"
The voice belonged to Scott.

"Blake! Come on, we have to go!" Scott yelled as he tugged on her hand.

"We can't just leave him!" Blake shouted.

"We have to, Blake."

"No, we don't!"

"That thing is going to kill us," Scott explained. "It already killed Derek."
Scott pulled her arm and dragged his sister into a classroom with Stiles close behind them.

"The desk," Stiles said. "Stop, stop. The door's not gonna keep it out."
"I know."
"It's your boss," Stiles informed.
"What?
"Deaton, the Alpha? Your boss," Stiles answered.
"No," Scott replied.
"Yes, murdering psycho werewolf," Stiles stated.
"That can't be," Scott muttered.

"Oh come on. He disappears, and that thing shows up ten seconds later to toss Derek 20 feet through the air? That's not convenient timing?" Stiles explained.
"It's not him," Scott declared.

"He killed Derek," Stiles pointed out.
Blake couldn't stop all of the thought rushing into her head. Was Derek dead? What was that thing? Why did it kill Derek? How were they going to get out of the school?

Suddenly, Blake felt like she was back at the video rental store. She was was trapped inside the building with the creature waiting for her.

"No, they don't open," Stiles declared as Scott tried to open the windows. "The school's climate controlled."
"Then we break it," Scott replied.
"Which will make a lot of noise," Stiles explained.
"Then, in, then we run really fast. Really fast," Scott suggested. "Stiles, what's wrong with the hood of your jeep?"

"What do you mean? Nothing's wrong," Stiles answered.
"It's bent," Scott stated.
"What, like, dented?"
"No, I mean bent."
"What the hell-"

Suddenly, one of the windows smashed and a car battery landed next to Blake's feet.

"What the hell? Stiles, is that the battery for your jeep?!" Blake exclaimed.

"That's my battery," Stiles confirmed.

"Don't," Scott warned Stiles.
"We have to move," Stiles argued.

"He could be right outside," Scott explained.
"He is right outside."
"Just let me take a look," Scott offered, taking a few steps towards the door and peaking out.

"Nothing?" Stiles questioned.
"No."
"Move now?" Stiles suggested.
"Move now," Scott answered before opening the door and running out into the hallway.

"This way," Scott announced.
"No, no, no, no," Stiles argued.
"What?"

"Somewhere without windows," Stiles explained.
"Every single room in this building has windows," Scott stated.
"Or somewhere with less windows."
"The locker room," Scott replied.
"Yeah," Stiles nodded.
Scott grabbed his sister's arm and dragged her out of the room, Stiles running behind them.
Usually, Blake would be grossed out by being in the boys' locker room, but right now, it was life or death.

"Call your dad," Scott ordered Stiles.
"And tell him what?"
"I don't know, anything. Gas leak, a fire, whatever," Scott started. "If that thing sees the parking lot filled with cop cars, it'll take off."

"What if it doesn't?" Stiles asked. "What if it goes completely Terminator and kills every cop in sight, including my dad?"

"Stiles is right. We are not bringing his dad into this," Blake agreed.
"But they have guns," Scott added.
"Yeah, and Derek had to be shot with a wolfsbane - laced bullet even to slow him down, remember that?" Stiles questioned.
""Then we - we have to - we have to find a way out and just run for it," Scott stuttered.

"There's nothing near the school for at least a mile," Stiles announced.
"What about Derek's car?" Scott asked.

"If we're taking Derek's car, I'm driving," Blake declared. She thought back to her and Derek's conversation earlier. She imagined herself sitting on Derek's lap as his hands were gripping hers on the steering wheel. Was that such a bad thing?

"That could work, we go outside," Stiles began. "We get the keys off his body, and then we take his car."

"And him," Scott added.
"There's no way we're leaving Derek behind," Blake stated at the same time.
"Fine, whatever," Stiles muttered.

Blake went to open the door but Scott's hand flew out to stop her.
"What?" she asked.

"I think I heard something," he answered.
"Like what?" Stiles asked.
"Quiet," Scott demanded.

Blake stepped away form the door, seeing a figure move from behind it.
"Hide. No, no, Stiles," Scott whispered as Stiles hid in a locker with Scott.
Blake, however, chose to hide behind the lockers. Why? Because by the time she realized that Scott and Stiles were hiding in the lockers, the door was already beginning to open.

She held her breath as she heard footsteps on the ground. Footsteps?
Blake revealed her hiding spot as she saw the janitor enter the room.
However, Stiles and Scott beat her to it and jumped out of the lockers, making the janitor jump.

"Son of a bitch!" The janitor cursed.

"Quiet!" Stiles exclaimed, not wanted the alpha to know where they were.
"Quiet my ass! What the hell are you trying to do, kill me?" The janitor asked as Blake moved to stand beside Stiles. "All of you get out."

"Will you just listen for half a second, okay?" Stiles questioned, the janitor pushing them out of the locker room.

"Not okay. Get the hell out of here right now," the janitor ordered.
"God, just one second to explain," Stiles begged.

"Just shut up and go!" The janitor exclaimed as he closed the door. The janitor's body was thrown against the door as the alpha had attacked him.

"Oh my God," Blake gasped.
"Go! Go!" Scott ordered.
Blake followed Scott and Stiles down the hallway and they pushed at the doors at he end of the hallway, however, they wouldn't budge.
"What the hell?" Stiles asked.

"It's a dumpster," Scott answered.
"He pushed it in front of the door to lock us in," Stiles explained. "Come on, help me."

Stiles continued to push against the door but he was getting nowhere.
"Stop!" Scott yelled, pulling Stiles away from the he double doors and down the hallway.

"I'm not dying here!" Stiles exclaimed. "I'm not dying at school!"
"We're not going to die," Scott argued.

"God, what is he doing?" Stiles questioned. "What does he want?"
"Me," Scott answered. "Derek says it's with a pack."

"Oh, great, a psychotic werewolf who's into team work," Stiles sighed. "That's-that's beautiful."

"Why don't we just let him have you?" Blake suggested, looking at Scott.
Scott's eyes widened. "What? No!"

"That is a plan that I agree with," Stiles agreed.
Blake looked over at Scott.

"It was just a suggestion," she shrugged.

Did Derek and Blake have a moment there?
