Cronus X Reader (Homestuck)

You didn't know Cronus that well. The two of you rarely talked to each other, aside from you telling him your order. You see, the two of you worked together at a local coffee shop. You two rarely worked together but when you did you usually had one or two other people working with you.

Today was different.

Today it was just the two of you. It was Christmas Eve and the shop was open but would close early so everyone could spend time with their families. The shop, however, was as empty as an abandoned town. He sat on the counter as you swept the floor for the fifth time that night.

"I don't see vwhy you're svweeping" Cronus said as he rested his chin on the palm of his head, he watched you intently. You glanced at him before going back to sweeping.

"Well- I don't like not doing anything. It makes me nervous when there's nothing to do. Besides, we still have two hours to go" you said as you nervously began to sweep again.

"Do you not like me?" He asked as he jumped off of the counter. He stalked closer to you before he was towering over you. Your grip on the broom tightened as you pulled it closer to you. He was much taller than you, much to your displeasure.

"Why would you think that?" You questioned, your voice quavered. He took a step back when he noticed your stiff posture. He didn't want to scare you, he only wanted to talk but that seemed to backfire. He sent you a lopsided smile before he sat down on one of the chairs you had been sweeping under, that way he would be shorter than you, maybe he would seem less intimidating.

"You nevwer look me in the eyes, like right novw, you always seem nervwous around me. Am I really that scary?" He questioned as he leaned against the table. You quickly shook your head. You turned to face him, showing that you weren't scared of him.

"I just don't want you to feel as though you have to talk to me." You sent him a nervous smile before going to sweep under another table. Cronus frowned as he sat back in his chair.

"I like talking vwith you" he said as he stood up. He walked over to you, moving so that he was standing in front of you "You're one of the only people who aren't annoyed by me." you stared at him, frowning at his comment.

"I've always wanted to talk to you. I just can't reach you" you said before turning away from him. He opened his mouth to say something but suddenly, the door opened and Cronus slipped behind the counter, his usual smirk on his face as he took the customers order.

"(Name) don't you havwe a ride?" Cronus asked as he unlocked his car. You stared at him before shaking your head. You shoved your hands in your pockets and puffed out a breath of air before replying,

"No. The breaks on my car weren't working so I handed it into the repair shop." He frowned and motioned with his head to his car.

"Come on, I'll givwe you a ride" he opened up the passenger side door. You pursed your lips. You weren't sure if you wanted to get in this guys car. "It's minus tvwenty degrees. If you vwon't let me drivwe you home then at least let me call you a taxi"

"Oh! No it's fine! I don't live that far away actually- just a few minutes- I wouldn't want to impose on you..."

"You won't be. Jump in. I'll drop you off." He said as he motioned to his car. You slowly walked towards his car before ducking in. He closed the door and walked to the other side before opening up his door and getting in. "Alright- so where to?" He asked as he turned his car on.

"Take a left at the exit" you said as you pointed towards the exit. He nodded and drove towards the exit.

"So- doing anything fun for the holidays?" He asked as he took a left. You took a moment to think about what you were doing.

"No, just spending time with family and working. Take a right right here. What about you?" You questioned.

"No. I'm not doing anything. I'll be working on some school work and working but other than that nothing." He said as he took a right. You directed him the rest of your way before the two of you stopped in front of your house.

"Thank you for the ride Cronus" you smiled at him before climbing out of his car. He watched you walk up to your drive way before he called out to you.

"(Name)!"

You turned to look at him. He had to confess, you looked gorgeous with the Christmas lights illuminating your face. He bit his lip when he saw you told your head to the side in confusion.

"Yes?" You questioned, staring at the boy. He was leaning against his open window, his skin was paler due to the cold.

"... havwe a good night" he as he waved to you. He rolled up his window and drove away. You waved back and turned to walk to your door.

A week later you came into the coffee shop. Cronus was working, his eyes twinkled when he saw you. Before anyone else could go to the counter he jumped at the chance.

"Hey. You vworking today?" He asked as he leaned against the counter. You smiled at him and tapped the counter.

"No- not today. I'll be working tomorrow though. How have you been?" You asked.

"Good. Mostly vworking. The holidays are almost ovwer" he said, the ends of his mouth twitched down at the thought of going back to school. "VWhat about you?"

"I've been good. I finished all my work so I'm free for the rest of the holidays"

"Maybe vwe should-"

"Are you going to order?" The girl behind you growled. You turned to look at her before blushing in embarrassment. You nodded and looked back at Cronus.

"Just a medium chestnut latte please" you put the money on the counter before mumbling, "keep the change"

"Yea- okay" he said as he put in your order and grabbed a cup to write down your order before slamming it down on the counter beside him. He stared at the girl who interrupted your conversation. "VWhat can I get you?" He asked, unamused.

You grabbed your cup of coffee and moved to leave when you glanced up at the cup. You raised your eyebrows when you saw there were numbers peaking out from beneath your hand. You pulled your hand away while holding it in your other hand. You turned to look at the male who sent you a wink behind the counter.

"You do realize I have you're number right?" You asked, holding back at laugh. You couldn't believe he actually wrote down his number on your cup.

"I know. This vway it'll be more casual when I ask you out on a date, but vwe'll discuss that later" he said before sending you another wink. You smiled at him before leaving the building. Maybe he wasn't as hard to reach as you thought.
