Chapter 7:Darrius Mitchell

I raced back up the stairs to get to my brother. I knew I should have stayed up here to keep an eye on Joshua and I was crazy to think that Chris could take him on by himself. It wasn't like he was weak or anything, Josh had a lot of minions on his side. Pushing through some kids in the kitchen, I could see that my brother was standing off in a corner by himself. I didn't understand. Chris said that Josh was getting handsy but what I'm really seeing was completely opposite.

I saw Chris come up behind me and he had the same confused expression written on his face.

"I swear man, Josh was trying to bump and grind just a minute ago," He stated just as Caleb came up behind us.

"Well, I guess he handled it without us then," I voiced sounding proud of my little brother for a moment until I saw Evan approach him with a drink. The dude was smiling from ear to ear as he stood right next to him. Then my eyes shifted across the room to see Gabi trying to get Ashely to go home with her because the girl looked wasted. I finally realized that she was one of the cheerleaders and she had a serious reputation as being easy. I guess Caleb didn't see it. He was always blind to situations that were in front of him.

"Hey," I turned to Caleb who had put on his clothes but his hair was still wet from the pool. One water drop had me fascinated as it ran down the side of his face to his neck.

"Yea?" Caleb asked me making me focus back on what I was about to say. I shook my head and replied, "Uhm, your girl looks really wasted out of her mind."

His eyes searched for who I could be possible talking about when he saw Ashely and Gabi still wrestling to get Ashely out the door.  Caleb glared so hard that I thought he would be able to cut through a steak with how sharp it was. He must have really been heart broken and seeing her in her true form must have been hard. He shouldn't have even come in the first place. God why am caring if his hurt or not?

"Because he is trying and you should be trying too," I thought to myself. I scoffed and I knew what I should do. Looking at Chris, I sighed and said, "We should get Marcus and get out of here."

Caleb turned to me and he look sadden that I was planning on leaving.

"All of us," I stated touching his shoulder and making Chris look at me sideway, "Including you."

"Really?" Caleb and Chris asked in unison and I nodded to answer them both. Chris arched his eyebrows and asked again, "Did he make you drink chlorine down there or something? Because obviously you forgot who you are inviting over."

I didn't miss the sharp stare that Caleb was giving Chris. Even though I was reluctant to invite him over, if he was trying I would try. I knew that Chris would have a hard time accepting but he will get over it.

"Naw man," I grinned," We cool now, so let's try and act like we are. Okay Chris?"

He rolled his blue eyes and I saw Marcus begin to approach us with Evan by his side. It was something about this guy that I wanted to hate but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"Hey Marcus we leaving," I commanded more than stated, "So say goodbye to your little friend."

I could see the color drain from his face but he didn't protest as he gave back the drink to Evan. He took it slowly brushing his fingers against my brothers. He wasn't slick.

"How about we all go back to my place," Caleb suggested, "I mean my brother wouldn't mind and there is plenty of food there."

I hadn't been over to Caleb's house in years and I'm pretty sure that he told his brother about what I've done to him over the years. Even though I was kind of uncomfortable going there, I knew it was the only way Caleb would feel comfortable. Maybe we could get a chance to talk more. In all honesty, I liked the conversation we had by the pool. It felt like we hadn't even been enemies.

I caught Caleb staring at me waiting for my answer. I just simply nodded and I could see a faint smile grow across his face. Chris looked back and forth between us with a confused glare.

"Oook," He said getting in-between us and slapping his hands together, "So we ready or not."

"Can I come too?" I heard Evan ask and I gave him a sharp glare.

"Oh hell naw!" I stated hearing Chris snicker but Caleb tapped me on the shoulder. He pulled me toward the bar and said, "Why don't you like Evan?"

"Because my brother does," I blurted, "And sometimes he isn't really a good judge of character."

Caleb crooked his neck to the side with an expression that asked if I was serious. I replicated his action and he smiled before speaking," Evan isn't terrible D, he's actually pretty cool."

"No like you don't understand," I came a little closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder, "My brother really likes him."

It took him a moment before he gasped dramatically and said, "So!"

"You childish," I said as I tried to hold in a laugh but failed miserably, "Still I don't want them to start hanging out and my brother get his little feelings hurt alright?"

"But you never know what could happen," He said walking towards our friends again," Expect the unexpected sometimes."

I didn't know what the hell he meant by all that shit but I knew that I wasn't going to stop not liking Evan. He better keep his hands off my brother or there is going to be serious problems.

****

"This is home," Caleb stated as we stood in front of this castle he called a damn house. I mean seriously I could fit both me and Chris's entire families in here. Speaking of Chris, his jaw looked like it was almost about to fall off any second. So I politely helped him close it by just slapping him a little.

"Fuck!" He screamed, "What you hit me for?"

"I thought I saw a bug flying in so I had to stop it," I expressed. He rubbed his cheek angrily glaring at me. I looked behind him to see Evan get out of his car. Caleb had somehow persuaded me into bringing him along. As long as he didn't try to lead my brother on I'm good.

"You guys ready to go in?" Caleb asked us and we nodded heading towards the double doors. As soon as he opened up the door, the way the house looked on the inside was completely different then it was on the outside. The inside wasn't as intimidating, it actually felt like a home instead of a house to show off. There was a white stairwell not too far from the entrance door and the kitchen seemed to be straight ahead. As we walked in, on the left there was a living room decorated with black and blue. There was a huge TV sitting over a brownstone fire place with the latest speaker system.

The house itself was painted in blue with gray marble flooring and black carpet for the living room. I still remember when Caleb only had a 2 story house that was decorated just like this. I guess they still miss their parents but they seem to have really come a long way.

"Okay guys make yourself comfortable and-," All of sudden there was a huge moan that echoed through the house. Everyone looked around curious as to what it could have been but Caleb instantly face plumed himself.

"Excuse me please," He said as he ran towards the kitchen. We, being nosy kids, followed him. We turned into the kitchen to find I guess his brother and some dude having sex. But not just any sex. His brother had some Latin dude bent over on the counter with his hands tied behind his back just straight smashing. I instantly reached back to cover my brothers eye's from this indecent act.

"Hey!" He yelled in protest as I turned my head from the scene.

"You don't need to see this!" I yelled back as he continued to try to pull my hand away. For a moment I heard pants being pulled up and Caleb yelling, so I took it as a sign that it was over. I turned my head back around and heard the door slam. The Latin man was gone leaving Caleb and his brother to argue.

"I thought you weren't going to be home you little ass," Harry yelled at Caleb, "Plus why am I arguing with you? This is my house!"

"So!" Caleb shouted, "No one wants to come home and see their brother fucking someone else. Especially when they have company."

"What company?" Harry asked not realizing that there were actually people standing there. Caleb took his shoulders and turned him towards us. He jumped back and laughed," Woo you are company."

"Hi Harry," I greeted.

"Can you please take your hands off my eyes now?" Marcus yelled and I removed them and said, "I didn't want to destroy your innocence."

He rolled his eyes at me before he greeted Harry as well. Harry smiled and begin to walk closer to us. He stopped right in front of me and said, "What took you guys so long?"

He pulled us both into a big embrace. I looked at Caleb confused before I decided to hug him back. I thought he would be mad at me for bullying his brother all these years but I guess he is still the same cool dude I knew. He let us go before his eyes shifted to Chris in confusion.

"Now you I don't know," He stated pointing at him before licking his lips, "But the real question is are you 18 yet?"

Chris eyebrows wrinkle in confusion before Caleb tapped his brother shoulder to say," That's Chris. You know the Chris."

Harry's eyes became wider as he let what Caleb said sink in. So he still had a crush on Chris and by the way he was looking at him now, I could tell that he never really gotten over it.

"He-hey Chris," He stammered out. Chris smiled and came closer to him to give him a hug. It wasn't an awkward one like I did and I could tell Harry was rather enjoying holding him. Pulling back, Chris said, "It's really nice to see you! I thought you weren't going to remember who I was at first."

"I could never forget you, "Harry stated but then Caleb said, "You just did."

We all laughed but then I felt my stomach growl. I asked, "Y'all know how to cook because I'm starving man."

Harry continued to stare at Chris like he was a new car or something. Then Caleb spoke up, "Yea we could make you guys something to eat. Right Harry?"

"You are so sexy," Harry said to Chris making my friend blush as Caleb smacked him on the shoulder letting him know that they weren't alone.

"What?" Harry said out of frustration.

"We are going to make something for them right?" Caleb said already getting some things out of the fridge. Harry groaned and answered, "Yes."

Now that we got that settled, I turned to go to the living room before I noticed something.

"Where the fuck is my brother and Evan?" I asked Chris who shrugged and asked, "Do you think Harry likes me?"

I scoffed at his question before I pulled him to go find my brother.

****

This house is a maze I swear. I think I saw the same door twice already. We were on the third level of the house still trying to find my brother before they finished making the food.

"Bruh, what you think they doing?" Chris whispered as we were quietly sneaking around a corner.

"They better not be doing nothing," I stated and Chris stopped me.

"Sit down bro," He commanded taking a sit first.

"Chris, I don't have-"

"Just sit down!" He said more forcefully without yelling. I did what he told me and sat right next to him.

"What man?" I asked picking at my shoelace.

"Don't you think that it's time for us to let Marcus date? I mean obviously he likes Evan and girlfriend or not...Evan likes him too."

I shot him a strong glare before he continued, "You can see it too D so don't play dumb. What's really going on man?"

"You already know man," I stated looking at him now, "I mean I can't get over what that bastard did to him."

It was a story I never wanted to remember because both me and aunt Ruby caught one of my mother's boyfriend's molesting Marcus when he was only 12 years old. Thank God, he never raped him but that shit scarred both me and him. I trusted no one to come close to him and when I saw that he started liking this guy, my guard instantly went up and I just didn't want him to get hurt again.

I saw Chris's face somber up, "I'm glad you and aunt Ruby was there to catch him though and I can't believe your mom got mad at you two."

"Yea that shit trip me out," I expressed leaning back against the wall when Chris said, "but Marcus is older now. He can protect himself. "

For a moment I wanted to be a smart ass and say something but thinking about my brother smiling when he's around Evan had me rethinking. Then I remembered he had a girlfriend and it made me put up my guard again.

"The thing that's upsetting me is the fact he has a girlfriend and his pushing up on my brother," He stated honestly, "My brother isn't meant to be a side dish or hidden. I don't know if that is what Evan is intending to do but I ain't having it."

Chris was about to say something when we heard voices.

"Hey why won't you give me a chance?" I heard Evan ask. I turned my head around the corner to see that he had my brother against the wall. It wasn't like he was pinning him but he looked like he was just resting there waiting for my brother to answer.

"You have a girlfriend," Marcus answered, "And plus I'm out already and you aren't."

"But I really like you," Evan stated bringing his face closer to my brother. This dude is bold. No wonder they call him Prince Charming. Still, my brother was not budging as he mushed Evan's face.

"Evan I like you too but I'm not a closet case," he said sadly removing his hand. From what I could see Evan really did like him. His body language said it all.

"What if I didn't have a girlfriend?" He asked and my ears perked up even farther, "I broke up with her tonight."

If my brother's eyes could get any brighter they would be stars. I saw him move in just as Evan moved in. I was ready to get up when Chris pulled me back.

"Just look don't move," He told me as we watched my brother get tongued down by this pretty boy.

It wasn't the fact that they were kissing, it was the fact that they looked hot kissing was what I was bothered with. I swear being around him and Chris is making me think this shit is normal. Beside from that, seeing my brother willingly let someone touch him was making me happy.

"Food is ready!" I heard Caleb yell from the bottom level. Evan and Marcus stopped sucking face and they came headed towards the stairs. Chris and I hurried to hide behind a wall before they caught us.

"So," Chris whispered, "I guess Marcus isn't going to be a virgin for long."

"Shut up!" I yelled not caring to whisper.
