Chapter 4:Caleb Johnson

Waking up for school was never easy, however my older brother never made anything easy to do. Harry Johnson was a certain kind of man. Harry was one of those men that had to grow up too fast but what made him very different, he never forgot that he was a big brother.

"Hey fart!" He yelled into my room making me bury myself into the covers further, "It's breakfast time!"

"Can you please just leave me alone?" I groaned at him but he couldn't hear me, seeing as he kept hitting the door way louder than he was supposed to screaming, "CALEB IT'S BREAKFAST TIME!"

"FINE JUST GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY ROOM!" I shot up in my bed throwing everything I could at him. He ducked but my pillow caught him by the head.

"Thank you for your cooperation," He smiled taking a bite of a bagel. He was wearing his usual gray business suit with his signature light blue tie. It was the tie my dad gave him before he passed away and he wore it every day. I stepped out my king sized bed and walked towards my closet only to remember my brother was still standing there like he was watching some type of TV show.

"Do you mind?" I asked before directing him to go down stairs and he looked as if I had utterly disrespected him with his eyes wide and his hand on his chest.

"Excuse me, who house is this?" He stated coming into the room, "I pay the bills, you don't so I get to do what I shall please. If I want to watch my brother get ready for school, I'm going to watch him get ready for school."

"That is creepy and disturbing Harry," I said taking one of my shirts from the drawer. That's when I heard him sigh.

"Why don't you ever wear the clothes I buy you?" He asked seriously, "I mean look at me I can dress."

I rolled my eyes and grinned," Yes I agree but your style is different than mine."

Here is the thing. Harry has gotten me multiple outfits ever since the summer. He said I should start dressing like I was going somewhere. During the summer, he stocked my entire walk in closet with button down shirts of every color imaginable and dress pants. When he showed it to me I instantly flipped out.

I thought he got rid of all my old clothes but he put them in my drawers around my room. To his dismay, I ended up still wearing my old clothes.

"You should have never taken my clothes out of my closet," I voiced picking out the shoes I was going to wear. He scoffed and started to walk towards the door, "I'll be waiting downstairs."

As I made my way to the usual hardwood kitchen counter, I looked around and just thought about how far we have come. When my brother was 18, he didn't know whether to move somewhere else or stick it out here. We had some pretty bad years before my brother got into investing. He ended up having luck with all the stocks he chose and instantly became the richest man in our state. However, he never liked being the center of attention and neither did I, so we decided to not have everyone in our business. Well, I decided while he just went along.

He became co-owner of a big clothing and shoe company, and he used the extra money he got from investing for me and his living. We weren't big spenders but we did like to have a few nice things around the house. There was a time I thought I never see clean counter tops because my brother had to move us out of our parent's house into an old apartment. Now that we are actually doing very well, I think my parent's would be proud of us especially my brother.

"Eat!" Harry yelled as he came into the kitchen buttoning up his blazer. I rolled my eyes and went to see what he had prepared this morning. He always cooked for me because he said I was too lazy to get up and do it myself.

I opened up the oven to see a plate of eggs with beef sausages and three blueberry pancakes. Now you see why I don't rush to make my own food. Like why should I when I have a chef in my home?

"I'm going to be late getting home today," Harry stated getting a small piece of extra sausage from my plate, "We have a meeting with some overseas investor's today and if we get it. We might be going on a little trip to Japan. What!"

I watched my brother hump the air about 4 times while biting his lips. When he was done, he slammed his hand down on the counter smiling. I took a bite of eggs and then said, "How are we related?"

He just shrugged and told me to be on time or else he was going to embarrass me in front of the whole school. Another thing Harry knew was the way to really punish a teenager was to do it in front of his peers. With a smile and a hit to the head he was out the door leaving me thinking how I was so misfortunate but still so blessed to have a brother like him.

"Hey Cal," I heard Evan yell my name as I slammed my locker shut. He ran down the hallway almost bumping into some freshman but they didn't really say anything considering he was kind of big. He seemed happy as he approached me with a huge grin plastered on his face.

"Hey Evan," I said back as he got closer, "What are you so happy about?"

"Well I found out some great news," Evan begin as we walked towards the cafeteria, "Marcus is in the new photography class I'm taking."

I stopped my best friend from literally jumping out of his clothes. This was obviously big for him considering everything that's going on. At least something good was happening for him even though it seemed little.

"Wow," I said surprised, "I did not know that you were into photography though."

"Yea I've always liked taking pictures as a kid but my dad thought it was too feminine," He said opening up the doors to the cafeteria and what I saw was pure and utter chaos. Everyone was celebrating the first football game tonight. There was screaming and cheerleading from every corner of the cafeteria. I looked over at the basketball table as they booed joking around with some of their football friends. I saw Darrius with Chris as they playfully tried to tackle their friends.

For a moment as I saw Darrius smile, I just stared at him. Happy looked so...good on him if that makes sense. The way his eyes opened up and the way his smile was so real that it kind of made me want to smile. Then I noticed he had waved at me. I looked around to see if there was some one else behind me but all I saw was Evan standing there in his blue t-shirt and white shorts. I cautiously waved back and then he turn away to continue taunting his friends.

"What was that?" Evan asked me as I seemed to recognize him talking. I shook my head and walked towards our table and luckily we were the only ones there because I could tell Evan wasn't finished. When he thought he had something, he asked more questions than an interrogation office.

"Don't shake your head," he continued sitting his backpack on the table, "The way you looked at the little ball dribbler over there..."

"I have you know that little ball dribbler is the older brother of your love interest," I interrupted him, "And I was just staring at him because they were the main part of the chaos going on in the cafeteria."

Evan analyzed me for a second but then the guys showed up with Michael leading them in. Right behind them I saw Gabi and my number one girl, Ashley Mahone. We had been dating for two years now and she was perfect.

She had that American girl look to her with her long blonde hair flowing down her back. She was also head cheerleader and the coolest girl I knew. She was wearing her cheer uniform today with her hair up in to a ponytail. Usually seeing her like this would get me hard as a rock but I guess since I've seen her in it so many times that it was getting old.

As they approached the table, I saw Ashley smiling as she gave me a flirtatious wave. Gabi waved at Evan smiling as well but I can tell by the way he waved back that he wasn't really feeling the same thing she was.

"Hey guys," Ashley greeted and she sat down in my lap and Gabi just sat next to Evan. I planted a kiss on her pink lips as she wrapped her arm around my neck, "So are you guys coming to the game tonight?"

"Yea as long as you guys are cheering," Michael shamelessly stated earning him a hand slap from our other friends. The girls blushed and I just rolled my eyes. It was obvious that Michael was a player and that he could get any girl he wanted in school. However, these girls were too smart for his stupid little games he played. Ashley curled more into me, moving her slim fingers along my neck. One thing I knew about Ashley was that she was always ready. When she wanted it, she wanted it no questions asked.

However, I wasn't really into a lot of sex. I mean don't get me wrong I'm a teenage boy but I just feel like there should be more to a relationship then just sex. Ashley and I talk but we never really get the whole deep conversation thing. She doesn't try to probe for any critical information on me either.

"Evan," I heard Gabi say, "What are you looking at?"

Evan seemed to not care anymore as he watched Marcus walk towards his brother's table. He was wearing a shirt that was ripped opened at the sides showing off his slim waist. Then he had on tight blue jeans that were ripped at the knees with his curly hair in a huge bun. Chris approached him putting his arm around his shoulders as the big table made a big commotion about him coming over.

"Evan?" I yelled making him wake up from his trance.

"Huh?" He stated turning towards with an angrily, "I was thinking about something."

I rolled my eyes knowing what he was thinking about and apparently Gabi did too.

"You were looking at that fag over there," One of Michael's friends, Danny stated making everyone laugh except for me and Evan. Surprising me and the whole table, Evan swiftly reached across and snatched the black haired boy from his seat. Everyone in the cafeteria was now staring at us as I tried to get my friend to loosen his grip, "Hey Ev! Calm down."

Evan looked from me to the guy and then I looked behind me to see Marcus staring at him as well. He immediately dropped the guy and walked out of the cafeteria.

"Didn't know Evan was so sensitive about the gays," Michael joked but his smile faded when I glared down at him, "Oh come on we are just joking."

"Well I think we have two different meanings of a joke," I said while Ashley held my hand. It wasn't soothing me like usually but I tried my best to calm myself down.

"Come on honey," Ashley cooed standing up, "You know how Michael and his friends are. Just ignore them."

She glared down at Michael as he blew her a kiss. I was really getting pissed at his openness to flirt with my girlfriend. But then I saw Darrius and Chris approaching our table. Darrius was hella pissed off as he ran towards Michael's friend.

"The fuck you say about my brother!" Darrius yelled while Chris tried to hold him back and telling him to let it go. Darrius wasn't giving in moving around his friend. I got in front of him and he instantly stopped as I put my hand on his shoulders.

"Darrius," Marcus yelled from their table, "He's not worth it."

He turned back to his little brother and then at me. I agreed with Marcus, "Yea Darrius, he's not."

I let my arms fall as he walked away with Chris. Seeing him stand up for his brother had me remembering the time we jumped a guy for bullying him. It also had me missing the fun times I used to have with them and that no matter what we always had each other backs. Sitting down with my table I begin to think, did I make a mistake in losing his friendship?
